Hostal Central

I'm rating the lower score just because THIS HOSTEL IS NOT A 9.7. First, they canceled my trip so I can't do this review but my reasons: 1- This hostel is not central is 5 blocks from downtown and at night you can't walk from the city center to the hostel because is not safe, so I had to come home by taxi and I paid 70 pesos extra each night 2- It's dirty and old 3- You can hear everything from the street, with no isolation 4- is expensive 5- it's not sociable 6- free unhealthy brea...

When I left at 8:30 am on February 13th, a female employee at the reception called a taxi for me, clearly telling me the fare was 200 pesos. I confirmed twice that there were no extra charges. When I got out of the car, the driver wanted 300 pesos.I called the female employee ,she changed her mind and said it was 300 pesos. The breakfast were quite nice. In addition, the hostel is located right next to the street, The deafening roar of the engine was extremely loud.

nice hostel, my private room was odd, tiny and stuffy, outside is a bit rough with bums bothering you, 2 blocks to big gtrocery store, enjoy!

Pros: - easy to meet people in the common areas, at breakfast or during the free activities the hostel organises. - The staff are friendly and help you with anything. - Free breakfast! - Good communal areas. Great place in Oaxaca. The breakfast is amazing, the staff is out of this world friendly and the beds were comfy. I'd stay here again in Oaxaca.

This is the most out-dated hostel I’ve stayed at in Mexico yet. Our dorm door didn’t have a lock, or even a latch, so we had to bar it with a suitcase, one bathroom for loads of people (with the loo in too, which was annoying if someone was showering) and our room didn’t have a window to outside. Moved hostels for my other nights in Oaxaca.

We stayed in a private room which was quite expensive considering there was no aircon and shared bathroom between 7. Free breakfast and evening activities. Location is pretty poor compared to lots of other hostels in the city - It’s about a 15minute walk into the center up a not so nice road. Overall good stay

Kind of a good hostel in probably the sketchiest part of Oaxaca. Really surprised by the reviews and rating. But indeed very clean, great beds, staff is very nice.

Awesome hostel !! I had the best time staying at Hostal Central :) the included breakfasts and the daily+nightly activities are amazing, I got to learn a lot about the culture and food of Oaxaca. The staff is invested and attentive. Would definitely recommend to solo travelers and would absolutely come back !

Great Hostel

by far the best hostel on my whole trip in mexico. Very friendly staff, great activities and easy to get to know people. Super nice breakfast!

A really positive place where the staff are responsive and welcoming, creating daily free tours where people can easily meet, interact and have fun together. Dorms are safe and spacious, with adjoining bathrooms and lockers, and very clean. Breakfasts were freshly cooked daily and delicious. Not a place to get s******** drunk, but where you can easily meet other travelers and share stories/tips and fun, and feel at ease and 'at home.' Viva Hostal Central, viva Mexico!

It was so great we booked it 3 times during our vacation. Staff was so friendly and helpful. Let us leave our bags as we roamed around before checking in. The breakfast here is awesome! It's different everyday. When I come back to Oaxaca I would stay here again. Thank you for the great hospitality and events available with the hostel.

We had an amazing three-day stay. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome and part of a real community. They go above and beyond to create a warm, social atmosphere. The activities are fantastic and thoughtfully organized. We truly can’t recommend this place enough.

The best part of this hostel was the genuine warmth of everyone who works here. You’re able to truly feel the care and love they put into everything they do. Every breakfast is delicious and thoughtfully prepared, and the activities are always fun, well-organized, and just a lovely to place to vibe with other guests.

Je ne peux que recommander cet hostel, tout était parfait : l’accueil, l’emplacement, les chambres, la cuisine, les activités. Tout est fait pour que tout le monde se sente bien et merci pour là gentiment et le sourire de chaque personne travaillant ici ! À bientôt !

The quality of this hotel is astonishing, probably the favorite I ever stayed at. From the staff, to the location or the facilities, everything is a 10/10. Every morning, breakfast get served on a plate, prepared by the chef. The common area makes it easy to get to know people, just as the (free) activities proposed everyday. One the morning, to visit Oaxaca and it’s suroundings, and one during the evening to learn more about the city’s culture and food specialities. I loved it, thanks
