The hostel has bed bugs and they charge $50 a night per bed. Literally stay anywhere else

The 3C room has many bed bugs. Wasn’t the best experience trying to kill bed bugs and trying to sleep.

Sadly got bed bug bites while there for a single night. Friendly staff but the bed was not cleaned.

Nice atmosphere, very attentive staff, except my bed I killed 3 blood-filled bed bugs 🪳in my bed and now I'm covered in welts and itchy. I have videos of the insects. In short, everything was fine except for the cleanliness 👎🏻

BED BUGS Woken up at 3am by two bed bugs having a feast at my expense. No staff on duty at that time so I had to deal with the situation myself and sleep without the blanket. Expect bed bugs to be a constant issue at this hostel, unless they somehow vacate the dormitories entirely to do a thorough extermination. Staff didn’t seem surprised when I informed them of the bed bugs when I was checking out. The rooms stink of sweat and dampness. There’s no proper storage for shoes, so they’re all over the floor. Imagine the stench. Towels never dry because there’s no active ventilation except for an overworked air purifier too small the space it’s in. Imagine the stench. The male bathroom stank of piss for the whole duration I was staying there. It didn’t matter if it was right after they cleaned it in the afternoon. The mixed shower room was alright. The floor mats were always soaked or damp, but that’s the smallest issue I had at this hostel. The staff who checked me in was less than professional—brown skinned Southeast Asian-looking woman heavily faking an American accent. I observed a 180 degree change in attitude, from laughing and smiling to a Caucasian guest, to monotonous non-service attitude to me—East Asian, arriving drenched in the rain. Did not appreciate that. If you’ve read until the end: PLAN and stay somewhere else!

Bed bugs in the room so unclean in that sense. Loud Americans on the final night about 1-2am drinking so that ruined the final night sleep.

Good location, big issue is there was bed bug in my bed, and staff didn’t really seem to care they offered a refund but i want people to know this is an issue at the hostel. I always paid for towels when I realised I didn’t need them they said they would refund me. The refund never went through I spoke to staff and they said it would take a few working days it’s been two weeks and no refund. I understand it’s cheaper Accomodation but bed bugs is a real issue

DO NOT STAY! Has bed bugs and cockroaches in the bed! When communicated to them staff wasn’t shocked and I had to ask to move bed. When asked about a refund (as I wasn’t happy I paid for it) - my emails got ignored. The beds aren’t comfortable at all - especially the bottom bunk. Other people told me they had bumps on their skin after staying here. It’s a social hostel but please stay elsewhere- why jeopardise your health while travelling!

Do not stay!! I woke up itchy at night to find a cockroach on my bed. Spoke to the staff who weren’t helpful. I had to ask to change bed. When asked about a refund didn’t get that either. I spoke to other people who thought there might be bed bugs too as they woke up with bite marks. If you look at previous reviews they’ve mentioned bed bugs too. Would not recommend solely based on cleanliness why jeopardise your health?

Found a bedbug climbing on my shirt in my bunk in the mixed dorms. Fortunately I was able to switch rooms to the female dorm, the staff was very quick to help move me, but not sure if they've dealt with cleaning that room or floor. Hopefully there is a response and update as I really liked the location and amenities here and would have wanted to book here again :(

Stayed in the female dormitory. The bathrooms are disgusting, with weird brown stain on the walls and bar everywhere. There is little room to put on your makeup or items, and everything around the sink is wet. the toilet cannot flush, so there is feces and piss smell the entire night. Loud people at the entrance who are inconsiderate. Even as a tourist, they are inconsiderate and also make noise within the hostel room. They also charge you 100¥ for toothbrush and small toothpaste, shocking. It’s cheap quality and given for free at most hostels? Why so cheap? I told the staff who struggle with English, that I no longer wanted the toothpaste and couldn’t understand me. Not only are they bad with English but also have problem understand people. This place is poorly manager and unhygienic, also see the recent review of bed bugs of another poster. disgusting.

i don’t recommend this place. this place gave me bedbugs. checked in april 19th. woke up the middle of the night because i was super itchy. i was half asleep so i thought it was just mosquito bites because it’s been hot during those days. april 20 i got back to the hostel and took a shower, not only are my arms extremely itchy, i also look at my legs and on my right leg alone i probably had 10 bites. in total on my entire body i had 20-30 bites. i told myself theres no way it’s mosquitos because it’s late april in japan. so i had to come to the conclusion that it was bed bugs, it only happened when i slept there. so, it’s 11:30 pm and i told the staff that i need a bed change because there i have bedbugs. he said he was very sorry and i will be getting a full refund but there was no other beds open that night so he told me he can change the sheets. change the sheets? is this a joke? i wanted to tell him to sleep there tonight. he didn’t offer to help me in any other ways, didn’t check in on me, didn’t offer to help me find a place to stay for the night, he just kept running around and it seems like he was dodging me. anyways, theres no beds open so he tells me my only option is so wait in the lobby until someone checks out the next day, which was 11 hours later (it’s probably midnight at this point). i walked around the area and there are no other vacant hostels. i had a taxi to the airport and the scheduled pickup was at unplan shinjuku, so i didn’t want to stay far away from there. i stayed up until 9am that day because i was forced to stay in the common area. i stayed up long enough until they turned on the lights in the common area and many people were also hanging out in the common area so it was even harder to sleep. manager comes in at 11am, i’m exhausted, itchy, and very pissed at this point. i tell him i need a new bed. he says of course but theyre cleaning it right now so it wont be ready for a bit, no problem. and then i bring up the full refund. he says no i’m only refunding you one night. are you serious? you give me bed bugs, all of my luggage possibly has bedbugs, make me sleep in the lobby, don’t help me at least try to get some sleep, and youre going to refund me one night? really? thankfully it didn’t take much convincing to get him to give me a full refund. however afterwards the manager starts to go on about “oh when we checked the beds it didn’t have bedbugs” ok so what? thats not my problem. i pay you guys so i can sleep in a CLEAN BED. and then he goes about “oh maybe you had them from a previous place” no i was in a private ryokan in kusatsu, and i was perfectly fine before that, nice try buddy overall i think they handled the situation extremely poorly. the only saving grace is they gave me my money back (after some convincing). i have some photos of the bites, but i am heavily tattooed so alot of them wouldnt show up in photos. dont stay here unless you want to have bedbugs. just go to imano hostel down the street. maybe if the staff slept in their own beds they provide for their guests they will handle it better next time

Location is great and the price. Not happy about the bed bugs though

Bunch of 18 year olds, dirty rooms and bathrooms, people yelling outside and in the dorms till late at night, unhelpful and uninterested staff, bedbugs. No positives. Joke of a stay.

there are bed bugs lmao. save yourself the visit to the laundromat at 2am and stay literally anywhere else

There were bed bugs all over. I was bitten so much and they got into my suitcase so it became a difficult trip. Would recommend staying somewhere else for that price

The rooms were infested with bedbugs. On my last night I found and killed 5 large and fully mature bedbugs, which were full of blood from feeding on other guests. Staff took *no action based on my telling them about the infestation* and the part time night staff had no ability to contact management or ownerships. Unsanitary and lack of competent management and processes to deal with serious health issues. I left immediately. Refer to photos for one live bedbug and the bloodstains left by several I killed.

Expensive for what it was. I did hear from other travellers in the mixed dorm that bed bugs were spotted.

There was a bed bug outbreak in my dorm. When I left they were cleaning specific beds but I fear it will be hard to completely eradicate without shutting whole room

The first night we both woke up itchy from bed bug bites. Staff were helpful and changed our bunks, but when we came back later to move into them, they were occupied. They again reassigned us but there was only 1 bunk available (there was 2 of us) so they assigned me a bunk that belonged to someone who hadn’t checked in it. Hope they got a bed when they arrived! There was also quite a few sick people including the staff, and hardly any hand sanitiser available. Also a low level of cleanliness.

Unfortunately I think the hostel has bed bugs, I’ve got bites all over me and it’s the only place I’ve stayed so it must have come from there.
