St Christopher's Inn Liverpool Street

Nice workers. Front desk jammed in corner of bar, bar is hot, traditional pub. Narrow Stairs to room only. Rooms 2nd floor, Private room doesn’t have personal bathroom, Good shower, comfy bed, bad beer choices, nice bartenders, room hot and sweaty. Not Hostel vibes, 90% was old business men.

Wouldn't recommend, so noisy had no sleep at all between the street noise/construction/people in the room not being considerate. Was a complete waste of money and hostel refused to refund. One of the staff wasn't too friendly. Felt so uncomfortable going into the 'hostel' you walk into a busy pub where there's no separate reception area it's attached to the bar you're having to queue with people looking to get a drink and then one was talking to me while serving drinks not professional

I really didn't enjoy my stay there. For me, it's not an hostel. Hostels are made to meet people. Here, there isn't even a common area. There's a kind of common room that's an extension of the bar below, and on the 3 nights we were there, the room was privatized 2 nights for office events, so inaccessible. Rude staff. No common area so it was really uncomfortable if you want a place to sit & be on your computer or to make calls, its near impossible.

Staff was horrendous to work with. Rude beyond words. Clearly underpaid.A/C didn’t work. Literally over 100 degrees F inside the room when it’s 65 F outside. Lock box didnt even fit under the bed, worst design for a layout I’ve ever seen. Outlet by bed didnt work. The “breakfast” was pieces of cheese and fruit. No meat. Oh and some white bread. Lock on room door was broken. Stayed at this hostel on two separate occasions. First time the lock was iffy - annoying but it could still be used. Second time it was completely broken. Staff were completely unwilling to acknowledge the problem or be of any help. Also had my laptop and tablet stolen. Breakfast starts too late. ZERO facilities, and the price does not reflect this. The staff do not bother to man their post and there was no means of getting their attention (like a bell or buzzer).

Really unpleasant experience. Air-con wasn’t working and it was too hot to sleep. The door lock was broken and hence no security. Staff were ok. It’s also a nice a pub and you get all the noise. The reception is also at the bar and hence don’t expect a proper check in experience.

Great Pub downstairs and still quiet in the rooms. Good place to stay and explorer East London.

I was a woman travelling alone and felt good staying here! I was in a mixed room with I think only men but honestly it was fine- each bed has a storage area below it (bring your own lock) that was plenty of space for my stuff, the bed had the nice privacy curtain and a light and outlets. There’s an individual bathroom for men and women (so had it to myself lol) and mirrors with shelves and hairdryers in the hallway. Easy to check in late and out early.

Very good location to catch early morning stansted express. Overall very nice hostel, will return.

Helpful and friendly staff. Unfortunately, I only stayed for one night, so I couldn’t fully experience the vibe. However, I noticed there isn’t much of a social atmosphere, there were no activities or common areas apart from the restaurant/pub downstairs to hang out. The toilets are quite small, and there are only narrow stairs to go up and down, so keep that in mind if you’re carrying big or heavy luggage.

The property was overall amazing! The hostel rooms were very nice. The bathrooms could have been kept cleaner and stacked with supplies (toilet paper, soap), but were overall ok. The staff was always available which was quite nice. The property was only about a few blocks from the Liverpool station. I would definitely stay here again!

Ideal location, friendly and accommodating staff, excellent pub food and drink (incl discounts!). I encountered a problem in my shared room and I was moved to another room quickly, no questions. One quibble which I didn’t mention to staff (so in all fairness they didn’t have a chance to deal with it - ideally this will have been rectified by the time you read this) is that there was black mold visible around and in the shower curtains in 3 different shower stalls. For using Stansted airport, this hostel is the best. Nice staff, cozy bunker beds, and handy location.

Research before you book, the amenities described in the property details are what you get. Don’t expect a kitchen! Furniture placement in the room kept me from fully opening underbed locker. Late checkout at cost is advertised , but housekeeping came and told me to leave anyway. I got sick from a nearby swimming pond and made a mess in the room, and alerted staff. They helped quickly , much appreciated. But the trash bag with puke splash was used in bathroom trash bin all day.

It was good for what I was after as I was only there for a concert. Not very social at all.

Good bar, clean and comfy rooms and good showers :)
