Tropical Oasis

I hate giving a bad review to a place where the staff is very helpful in friendly and it's a great location. those are the pros. cons: The facility is not very good. my bunk was saggy and hurt my back. pulled bed shirt when someone got up above because there were no ladders for them to get on top. The electrical expander was pulling out of the wall. dirt was tracking it. one of the showers was not working but was not post as as such. this was a poor experience.

I left my clothes in the room when I checked out and I was gone 3 hours, yet when I came back my clothes were gone. The hostel worker was rude and unhelpful and all he had to say was it must have been stolen.

Hostel had very poor security. Easy to enter rooms off street. Cleanliness was poor and there was no hot water.

Not safe, u can just walk into the property, and the dorm. One of staff was unprofessional and yelled at us, threatened to call the police and to throw us out. Was so unprofessional that the rest of the staff told her to walk away and told us that we were ofcourse welcome to stay. Also this staffmember is targeting and acts unfriendly towards locals.

Really basic. A wooden shed with a fan and beds. Mattresses are worn out to the maximum and you feel the wooden planks you are sleeping on. Booked 2 nights and left after 1. no refund.

Similar price to Bella's but facilities no where near as nice. Dorm in need of a clean. No soap by bathroom sink (which had beard trimmings the whole time I was there). Bathroom bin not emptied often enough (over-flowing with toilet paper). No atmosphere when I was there. No locks on hostel or dorm but there is lockers to store valuables

Je kan er slapen, maar de kwaliteit is echt slecht. Het is een soort sloppenwijk. De kamers ruiken muf en zijn schimmelachtig en de douches en toilet zijn minder goed dan op de gemiddelde camping. De lockers werken niet en om de kamer koel te houden blazen er vele ventilators wat enorm veel herrie maakt. Het slechtste hostel wat ik tot nu toe gehad heb. Zeker geen tropische oasis ook al heet het zo. Wel leuk dat het een beetje schoolkamp gevoel geeft.

Auberge beaucoup trop vetuste : c'est une épave qui prend l'eau : les portes ne ferment pas, eu sable partout, dès qu'il pleut un peu tout est inondé (surtout la cage à dortoir de 4 lits qui n'a pas de fenêtre : on dort dehors) pas d'ambiance ni d'aide ( la famille qui y vit, impression de déranger) Le pire jamais fait en Amérique Ils le savent (au vu des précédents commentaires) mais ne changent rien...donc fuyez

Just go somewhere else really. For me,the worst hostel of my 2 months trip. Dirty, really all over the place owners and just an unhelpful and couldn't care less vibe. I have low expectations from hostels and I am easily pleased, but this was bad even for me.

Great little hostel, the owner was so welcoming and we were able to check in early! Would recommend staying here

The hostal is decent, but if there are other options I would consider it.

Good location, clean , chill vibes

I had a great time in this hostel. The environment is more quiet but more intimate. The beds were comfortable but the outlets in the walls need updating. I couldn’t find an outlet that my charger would stay plugged into. I would stay again.

It was ok, basically a basic wood shack, I guess that’s all you need on a tropical island. Looked better in the pictures and expected more for the price.

Had a lovely stay at this hostel! Not too loud and crazy which for me personally made it nicer. Right in the heart of town with lots of activities and local restaurants nearby and a little supermarket less than a minute away which was really handy. Kind staff too. Keep an eye out for the little black and white cat, she’s adorable (but dosen’t belong the hostel). They didn’t know her name, so I called her Clementine

Great little beach vibe hostel. Far from luxury but it feels super fitting on such a laid back island. Everyone we met here was lovely, the staff especially, they did all they could to help out, answer any questions and give us recommendations. The private room we had was literally just a beach hut. Which I loved. The only downside was that it was rather susceptible to mosquitos coming in on a night because it wasnt very air tight at all. Rough around the edges but overall very fitting.

It’s not expensive and really ok for 1 night !! But for long is better to paid more and get huge quality or hostel sociable

Super nice hostel right in the middle of Caye Caulker. The private room was one of the cleanest I’ve been in in all of Latin America. The shared bathrooms were also always very clean

There were ants in my bed and the staff was never around to talk to about it...

Decent hostel but would recommend staying at Bella’s if you can because it’s more social and has more going on. This would be a better spot if you want a much more chilled vibe

It was a great island but Bella's backpackers was so much better than this one!

A lovely quiet base for a stay in Caye Caulker. We had a private double and it was super basic but everything you needed. Secure and comfortable and in a great location. Don’t expect a party atmosphere - it’s literally a base to explore but we met some lovely people there. Staff weren’t super proactive or present but frankly didn’t need to be. Great spot for a good price. Would recommend!

An amazing place to stay while living the island life. The location is awesome, right in the middle of the pier and lots of restaurants and shops. Although no hot water the facilities were still great including the very functional outdoor kitchen and the beds were comfy! Loved chilling on the hammocks at tropical oasis.
