George was one of the best employees that we have encountered while staying at any hotel. We were very impressed with his outstanding customer service that exceeded our expectations in every way. Every encounter with him was above what we expected from one of your staff members. The manager that hired him hired an outstanding representative for your establishment! He was always positive, cheerful and apologized to every guest waiting in the lobby that checked in before my companion. She was amazed at how efficient, organized, and pleasant he was with every guest in the queue to check in. He answered every guest politely on the phone, and apologized profusely for the wait. The location was in central Mission Valley, which is about 15 minutes to The San Diego Zoom Balboa Park, Sea World or other major attractions in San Diego. There was plenty of free parking on site. There was a very nice cafe located in the complex within walking distance with a very nice selection for breakfast or lunch, even though we did not have time to experience their cuisine. The Atwood had ample available free parking in the complex. Overall, the location, the proximity to major attractions, the easy access to the beach and downtown were very advantageous. 1. There was mold in the bathroom in room 106. There were roaches and (bedbugs?) in the coffee prep area. 2. The noise through the windows were excessive due to the double pane windows needing replacement or upgrade. There was a lot of street noise and excessive noise from the parking lot in the morning. 3. A black out curtain that covered the whole width of the windows would have also helped. 4. Adequate staffing available to check in guests to minimize the wait time would have been preferred.

like how big the area was and how it gave apartments vibes. and love crust is right there found a bed bug on the one of the queens' mattresses at first, it looks clean and very open concept for the facility. tons people walking around by the liquor store. a lot of people are just out an about in the complex. noise, and parking was bad as well.

Location and affordability This was my second stay and they really shouldn’t call themselves a hotel it’s really a motel. I gave you them a second chance because I got a good rate to book Direct and I have to find a place to stay weekly for two nights for the unforeseen future,so I thought I’d found a place but after this last visit arriving with four police cars there and then I couldn’t find anywhere to park for check-in. It was 11 o’clock at night and the there was nowhere to park to carry my stuff to my room there was no security. I had to park in front of the liquor store. I asked the hotel staff if someone could escort me because there was people all over(hence police presence) and just not a very safe situation and there was no one she was alone. The poor thing! Especially for a late check-in when there’s no guaranteed parking it’s just not safe and there were no security guards or other staff insight. Then as I was sleeping I felt something bite me and looked to find a pincher bug in the bed! I thought oh this has to be a fluke but no fast forward to night two and I’m bit again and lo and behold there’s another bug in my bed! Then when I returned after being gone for the day and I carry all my stuff up the stairs to my room and then my darn keys were not working. Thankfully I called the front desk and a staff member brought me a new key. I wasn’t about to walk all the way back down with my stuff. No elevators and nothing to help you carry your luggage from the car. Again that’s a motel! It appears clean upon first glance but then when you look closer you can see the dirty handprints, just nasty looking things on the walls and doors, and broken floorboards, deadbolt didn’t work. I could keep going.

Location and staff I stepped in glass in the first room, the water didn’t go down in the tub. In the second room there was blood on the pillow and bedbugs.

It's unfathomable, that a business that gave you one of the worst cases of bed bugs I've ever heard of, not only NOT apologize, but NOT refund as AGREED by management. I stayed at the Atwood one weekend, while looking for apartments after landing a job in San Diego. The day I checked out, I saw the wreckage left on my body and knew it was obviously not mosquitos, but bed bugs from my stay there. I contacted Sophia at the front desk immediately, with pictures of what I received during my stay there. Anthony never replied to any emails and phone calls, I knew the type of person—and hotel—I was going to deal with. The script was always, "He's in a meeting, would you like to leave a message?". I finally said I'd hold until he was "done" with his meeting after trying to reach him for weeks. I eventually reached him, and instead of what I thought any decent manager would do after seeing my pictures—offer his sincere apologies and refund my stay—he argued and asked why I never said anything DURING my stay. As if bites reveal themself immediately. I couldn't believe he was even arguing to begin with. Especially, after wanting to level with him and not make a big deal as a manager myself. Somehow he agreed to half my refund (around $150). To me, the amount refunded was nothing. It was the principle of it all. But when he never paid it, and after several emails and phone calls following up on it, I knew the game this hotel plays to not pay out. Hope that we just go away. I had to put myself out here in humiliation and say I stayed at a roach motel. No one wants to post and attach pictures of themselves like this and say, "I'm cheap and had to stay here". But the pictures of this place duped me into thinking it was more than what it actually is.... a low-class hotel. The scars that remain on my entire body after the bites left my body, prove this.

The staff were extremely friendly. They really did make us feel welcome upon check in. The rooms weren't as clean as I would have liked. The floors were extremely dirty. We had to use a towel to sweep up the floors and try to make them semi clean. We definitely needed a mop and bucket. Within minutes of walking with no shoes our socks were extremely dirty. It looked like we step on the road with our socks only. The restroom wasn't as clean as it should have been. There was sitting water in the tub and once the drain was pulled out (by myself not staff) clumps if other people's hair came out with the drain. It was so disgusting. But we drove 7 hours with 3 kids we were all exhausted and I didn't have the energy to wait for someone to come and clean it up, don't know that anyone would seeing as we ran out of towels and were told they only had pool towels available. Housekeeping didn't clean the room so we didn't get new towels and we needed new towels because everyone one of us took a shower and we lost a towel to being used to clean the floors. Knowing the floors were dirty and clumps if hair were in the tub I throughly checked the beds for any bed bugs and thankful there were none. We also had our own blankets so it made me feel a little more comfortable about sleeping on the bed because if the floor and restroom were dirty we figured the beds weren't to clean either.
