Hostal La Isla

The private room is a very tiny, weirdly shaped room. Thin, stained and pilled sheets. You hear the bar next door booming music and screaming until literally 3am. The atmosphere is very weird. Volunteers live there and do everything together. I guess you join in, but if not you are very alone. They live like it's their own place leaving stuff in the shower and taking over the kitchen for their group meals. "Breakfast" is chia seeds and coffee- bring your own milk.

Sociable hostel, dorm with pods is a bit cramped but the beds are comfy and big lockers are provided. Small outside terrace is night to hang out in, nice people and good vibe. Good breakfast and excellent location.

It's a really nice hostel with good vibes and nice volunteers. You can find other travellers to go around. They do have yoga classes but they are at 11 in the morning so kinda in the middle of the day. And they were to have a family dinner in Sunday evening but that didn't happen

It is overall a nice hostel. The owner is definitely super nice. Breakfast is quite small but it tasted good. The room with the pods is hilariously small. The staff was so and so.

Hostel was in good location, but the bed was so bad that I couldn’t sleep there. Worst in the upper bed. Also breakfast just leaves you hungry, because of the small portions. Although good place to socialize with people and volunteers were friendly.

It is a lovely place, good vibes and very clean. The only thing to keep in mind that there is no hot water until 8 am and the kitchen ipens for personal use only at 10.30 am. They serve breakfast, but I would not be relying too much on it, the portions are small and you only get 1 cup of coffee that is not strong. There are free yoga classes for the guests every other day at 11 am.

Good location and staff were friendly. Beds were really uncomfortable and the light in our dorm didn’t work on the first night, which someone said seemed to be an ongoing issue.

Goed hostel

We stayed here for a total of 5 nights in a private room Pros Free breakfast Hostel is super chill, lots of comfy seating Great location Lots of trips on offer with great prices ! Cons Sheets had holes in and were nearly falling apart. Could do with some more hand towels and shower mats, also falling apart and looked dirty. No curtains on 2 sets of windows which were facing to court yard with motion sensor light. Mould growing on the Celing of private room 2

Loved the vibes of this hostel - the volunteers and free yoga were the personal highlights for me! Thank you to AK and Marian for curating such a wonderful space! I hope to be back :)

One of the best hostels I’ve stayed in for sure. Spotlessly clean, great facilities, consistent hot water, plenty of comfy communal areas. The best thing about the hostel though is the really homely feel they have cultivated, it has such a lovely atmosphere. The owners were really friendly and all of the volunteers and staff were too. It has a really social vibe but not party. I kept extending as I just didn’t want to leave!

I liked this place a lot, was exactly what I was looking for. Only improvement: curtains in the dorms, sheets that don't slip off as easily and stricter rules for smoking (closing the doors, so the smell doesn't go to the dorms)

We had an amazing time at la Isla. The staff is super friendly and helpful. We loved the free yoga classes. The space is very clean, everyone staying there was very kind and it’s was very easy to connect with other people. La isla has a huge list with recommendations where to eat and what to do. Every place we tried was very good. We can only recommend!

Hostal la isla is a very cozy and welcoming place to stay. The location is great. You have restaurants and bakeries in walking distance. The bus station is 15 minutes walking distance. I really enjoyed the yoga clases, there are amazing (Thank you Mariam 🙏🏻)

A lovely, homey hostel filled with super kind volunteers and travellers. Everything was kept very clean, breakfast is good and I really can't find anything to compain about 🤷‍♂️ I would definitely stay here again if end up back in San Cris!

My favourite hostel I stayed at in Mexico. The manager and volunteers are really lovely, and it had a great calm social vibe. The breakfast was always really good. The four person dorm was really quiet at night.

Nice location, one block from the main walking street. I booked a shared room with ensuite bathroom. There was an odor in the room, and they moved to another bigger room with more beds and no ensuite bathroom. The room did not have bed curtains. Otherwise, my stay was good.

I switched to this hostel after being at puerta vieja (lovely party hostel) for a few days and WOW what a welcome change it was. A truly chill vibe, both the atmosphere and the people. Has everything you need, great location, free breakfast, and free yoga on certain days! Love this spot

L’emplacement de l’hostel est idéal, en plein centre. Les lits capsules et la chambre sont vraiment parfaits, avec en plus une petite salle de bain privée super pratique. Le personnel est très agréable et répond à toutes nos questions. Les équipements sont fonctionnels et facilitent vraiment le séjour.

Un esprit calme et reposant

Personnel aimable, tout était propre et bien entretenu au cours de la journée. Lieu sécurisé. Petit bémol sur la qualité des draps et des oreillers. Mais globalement j’ai passé un très bon séjour et je recommande car très bon rapport qualité prix !

Cool hostel with a good vibe. staff were great (most through workaway I think). we were in the double room with a 270° view, which was really cool. Breakfast was excellent, though doesn't start until 8.30.
