On the second night I accidentally discovered that my capsule was infested with tiny white insects. I found them crawling on the walls and ceiling of the capsule after shining a light. They fit the description of bedbug larvae, but I am not sure if they actually were. The staff member did not understand me when I informed him of the problem. Luckily my Japanese friend was able to explain the situation over the phone. I was moved to a different floor, but I don't know if they did anything to combat the infestation. It kind of seemed that the staff member did not really care about the seriousness of my complaint. This was on the 3rd floor, capsule 28. Another point I really dislike is that guests don't have a personal luggage locker and are expected to just leave their stuff unsupervised in the dorm room at their own risk. The tiny locker inside your capsule is only large enough to store your passport, wallet, etc. I had an expensive camera with me, additional lenses and a Nintendo Switch. Luckily the other guests were honest people, it still made me feel a bit uneasy to be honest. Even though the rest of my stay was reasonably comfortable, I really would not recommend Hotel Tomariya Ueno and would probably not stay there again. The whole bug fiasco kind of traumatized me and lowered my review score significantly.
