Finca Carpe Diem Ecolodge

A lot of people might get lucky and have a great time, but myself and four other guests (that I know of) got food poisoning here. This food poisoning is a major issue, because you’re only your only source for food while staying here is their restaurant. They don’t give you a kitchen, a microwave or even a fridge to store your own food in, so there is no safe alternative. The nature and pools are really nice, but overall not worth the risk.

Qué decepción este hostal. Ya había ido a Minca hace algunos años y quería regresar. Al final el hostal no se ubica en Minca, no hay vista al mar y las actividades son pocas (por ejemplo no se puede arrendar una bicicleta). Las habitaciones privadas no valían la pena. La mayoría de la personas del hostal no hablan español (hablo español pero la personas conmigo no así que tuvieron dificultades para comunicar). Sin embargo, la persona que se ocupe del bar de arriba es maravillosa!!

Absolutely the worst experience we've had so far. We were forced to pay for motorcycles that we asked to be exchanged for a taxi. The receptionist didn't cancel them and we were forced to pay, we were unable to solve the issue and we received hostile and xenophobic treatment. We felt completely unsafe at the taxi. When we wanted to write our review we figured out they canceled our trip so we wouldn't write, we looked everywhere to write this. Many others share our experiences (Google reviews)

Het hostel is mooi gelegen op een mooie locatie. Echter, de prijzen die ze rekenen om er te komen is belachelijk. Vanaf de airport naar het hostel was het €50. Toen ik vroeg om mij te brengen naar Palomino vroegen ze meer dan €100. Terwijl ik er met de bus ben gekomen voor €6. Je bent gebonden aan de locatie, om die reden rekenen ze ook bizarre prijzen voor de maaltijden, de maaltijden zijn erg magertjes voor wat je betaald.

Honnêtement je ne vois pas pourquoi c’est Hostel est sur ce site. Il travaille avec des agences de voyage donc ce n’est pas une ambiance Hostel mais plus des groupes de voyage voyageurs de 50 ans. Le restaurant est extrêmement cher et aucune possibilité de manger autre part. Je trouve que la disposition du restaurant par rapport à la piscine et étrange je ne recommanderais pas cet Hostel pour des voyageurs seul comme j’étais

NOT in Minca (despite being listed there it is over 1 hour away). It is very remote. The transfer from the airport costs 190,000 COP and taxis for other trips also cost a lot. The hostel offers tours, but these are expensive and the hostel takes a huge cut from local guides. The food is overpriced and poor quality and there are very few options for food nearby so you’re trapped into paying over the odds. The rooms are clean and the pools are lovely but overall wouldn’t recommend.

Location is amazing in the mountains. However, it's not a hostel I can recommend. 2 out of 3 in our group got food poisoning at the hostel which affected a significant part of our trip

The place is beautiful but too far away from Minca. One of the young waiters was unprofessional and disrespectful with my girlfriend and I in multiple occasions. He was never smiling to anyone and not even looking at you when you were talking to him. It is a shame to feel uncofortable during your vacation because of someone that does not like his job.

Jessica (cocktails) was amazing, other service was usually very slow. Value for money for rooms was ok, for food and activities it wasn't (some food portions are very small as well). The location was beautiful, but just for clarification minca is not easily accessible, meaning some types of tours are not achievable from this hostel (eg bird watching, mtb).

Rats and birds live in the accomodation. the owner runs around the prproperty like a mad man and is always in your private balcony space. stastaff could of been more friendly

Such a lovely and relaxing vibe! Really loved it and would have liked to have more time. It’s so green and much to do (hiking options, coffee/cacao tours/chilling at the pool…). Getting there is also fairly easy (drom santa marta), just take a public bus to Bonda and then a moto for 25k from there that takes you up to carpe diem!

Beautiful lodge and very clean. The staff are all very helpful and attentive and the food in the restaurant was delicious and freshly made. Would 100% stay again!

Super séjour de trop courte durée. Nous avons été super bien accueilli par José! De la hutte à la piscine avec vu sur toute la jungle nous avons été surpris par la beauté de l’endroit. Petite mention au filet mignon fait au petit soins. Merci

lovely place to stay, in the middle of the jungle. Beautiful scenery, lovely accommodation. Just be aware it’s hard to access via a normal taxi as the roads are not suitable.

Finca Carpe Diem is an absolute gem if you’re looking to unwind and reconnect with nature. The place is beautifully maintained and very clean, with stunning views all around that make it hard to leave. Food was delicious and made with fresh produce. —there are easy walks nearby that lead you to waterfalls and lush jungle areas, perfect for exploring without needing to go far. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, thanks to the genuinely friendly staff who make you feel at home.

Fantastische oase van rust midden in de natuur, maar met genoeg activiteiten in de buurt! Ik ben langer gebleven dan gepland, omdat ik zo genoot van de 3 zwembaden en het heerlijke eten! Echt een aanrader!

We loved our stay here! The privates are very affordable with a huge king bed. It’s a bit of a trek getting to and from but definitely worth it if you spend a few nights. We wish we could’ve stayed longer, it’s the perfect place to relax by the pools, in the hammocks and you’re over looking the most beautiful views. And the food was delicious! Highly recommend.

Such a wonderful place! Really felt more like a luxury hotel stay. The pools are so nice and the rooms (we were in a cabana) were the best we had so far in Colombia. We also did a lovely coffee tour with one of the family members. Overall I would certainly recommend!

One of the hostels I’ve ever stayed in! Beautiful views, really helpful staff, good food, great vibes. Only thing that could potentially be improved was maybe some evening activities as there’s not tons to do after dinner

Despite stressing ourselves out about how we were going to get to this hostel, it was actually very easy and affordable to do so! Our mototaxi drivers also gave us their details so we could get to Minca town after here. We really bonded with the hostel pets— the two dogs came on the waterfall hike we did and were very lovely. The staff were helpful and the food was good with many options for vegetarians and meat eaters even if a little on the pricier side. Loved it here. Wish we stayed longer!

This was a fantastic hostel. We spent 4 days here (2 in he twin room and 2 in the cabana) - we loved both for different reasons. We particularly loved the king size bed in the Cabana. We enjoyed the hiking tour and heard great things about the other activities. The staff were lovely and we enjoyed the food. The whole experience was great for a rest and very calming - we would recommend! 10/10
