Raindance Hostel

The facilities here are definitely on the more limited side, but the social vibe is great. Despite being in the jungle and having lots of bugs in the toilet/shower area, never really had an issue with bugs in the beds- the cages keep them out pretty well. I do wish there was a kitchen on the property, however.

Everyone that we interacted with on the staff were super friendly and we had breakfast one morning that was really yummy. However, overall we weren’t impressed. Our room did not feel or look as clean and fresh as it looked in the pictures when we booked. The beds did have bug nets, but they had noticeable holes in them and I woke up each morning with more bug bites than I went to bed with. Would not recommend this hostel to a friend unless you are solely coming here for the party on Wednesday.

Generator turned off in the middle of the night, and was off for 3 hours without being turned back, so it was impossible to sleep. I even called reception without getting a reply. Even when the fan is on it's hard to sleep. I found a lot of bugs in my bed (not bedbugs). You can hear everything going on in the rooms next to you. Food is good, and staff is friendly even though some of them only speak spanish. Overall I would only stay here again if I had AC room.
