I’ve stayed in a few hostels, often budget ones where you can overlook an uncomfy bed or the facilities aren’t great but this hostel truly is the worst I’ve stayed in. Both overpriced and a terrible place to be. The only good thing I can say is the guy behind the desk was chill. 90% of the people I saw in there were pissed old men and a literal schizophrenic woman screaming in the bathroom. The facilities were disgusting and the beds were stained and you couldn’t even close the curtain. ...

Ziemlich abgefucktes und zwielichtiges Hostel. Wir hatten einen Polizeieinsatz während unseres Aufenthalts. Sehr dreckig. Ich glaube, es leben viele Arbeitslose dort. Das Gym ist verfallen und rostig und nicht wirklich brauchbar. Auch wenn es günstig ist, würde ich nicht nochmals dort hin. Ich bezweifle, dass die Bettwäsche jedes Mal gewechselt wird...

This hostel was the most unsafe I've felt during my 6 months in New Zealand. I think it is a halfway house where homeless people/people who have just got out of prison stay. Why the word 'backpackers' is in the name is beyond me, it is so misleading. Do NOT stay here. I had to leave as I felt too unsafe. It was also filthy. My 2 star review is 2 stars too many - I am giving them ONLY because the staff were so nice. I'm glad there are bars at the reception to protect the staff

These guys need removed from your website as a hostel option, more of a half way house/homeless shelter. My room mate was long term resident. Room was more of his bedroom than a hostel environment. Rubbish everywhere, broken scooters/repair workshop in the room, all shelf’s full of personal belongings, figures, poster up. Refused to turn the lights off at midnight, bringing hot meals in the room at 2am. Dodgy people in corridors with mental health issues. I had to book a new room for the 2nigh...

31 Dec 24 a guy was smoking in our room. He was a friend of someone in the room and didn’t even stay on the property. He was drunk, bottle of vodka and a smoke in his hand saying he’s going to stab someone, I went to reception and asked to relocate room which I was able to do as me and my partner felt unsafe. Another guy in the room told us to f**k off as we were packing, it was a horrible environment. We changed to a bigger room and felt safe but got no discount. My headphones were stolen.

Soon as we entered, we felt unsafe. Place is filled with older men (40s/50s), no backpackers. the reception has bars up (clearly for a reason). we were shown to our room which smelt of BO. The corridoors smell of damp, dirty odor. the toilets were okay, but we wanted to get out as soon as possible. my girlfriend said she would never come here alone as a female backpacker. It is clearly a halfway house, not a hostel, filled with dr*****s and homeless people.

Extremely unsafe. Full of d**g addicts and alcoholics. If you are below 40 years old you are really not welcome here, seems like a place only for homeless people to have a place to stay for the night or for permanent residents.

To start this place is more like a prison than an accommodation. The moment you walk in there are bars on the reception and locks everywhere. The smell is like old curry, and the whole place is dirty. There were many people that looked like they lived there. At one point I noticed a male staff member that went into the female restroom while there was a person in there, and he did it knowingly. Overall I would not suggest any backpackers to stay here.

Do not go here! Definitely not a place for backpackers or female travelers. It was rank and had a certain crowd of people that were all older or living there long term. It was very dirty and not a place we wanted to stay. Had to watch someone get taken out by an EMT. The vibe was sketchy and creepy. The front desk staff were helpful but the maintenance was horrid.

This is the most sketchy place I have been. Do not go here if you’re a woman, very unsafe vibes. The staff are nice, but the other people living there are not friendly or clean. Everything stinks. Wouldn’t go here ever again

Very nice hostel

Super nette Mitarbeiter, leider nicht so coole Jungs in unserem Zimmer gehabt aber ansonsten hat es da echt Spaß gemacht. Ein paar sehr coole Leute getroffen aus aller Welt, die sehr viele Tipps und Geschichten auf Lager hatten. Würde ich weiter empfehlen!

I stayed just for one night. Check-in was easy, and the staff were friendly. However, cleanliness was an issue. While my room was relatively clean, the bed linens had hair on them. Also, there was no fan or air conditioning, just a window. The kitchen was very dirty, no space in the fridge, everything disorganized and messy. On the positive side, the price was great, and the location was excellent, so it’s good for budget travelers. Overall, I recommend it. I give it a 6/10.

Dirty Weird people Bed bugs!

Very polite personal giving of positive vibes. The kitchen was a little messi once, but overall worth every dollar :)

What a strange experience. Very dirty throughout but also had a lot of mold in the bathrooms which I am extra sensitive to. Some older characters living here.

There was a group of men gathering around the entrance. When I had to pass thru them, they came unnecessarily close, one of them touched me and the group laughed. It was really uncomfortable. I had the feeling a person was sleeping in my room who sneaked into the hostel. Most of the people staying there are longterms. No backpackers. After the experience in my first night, they dont seem trustworthy and I didnt feel save. The staff is friendly, the showers are more like showers in a pool.

Many people living in the hostal, smelly room, dirty and desorganized kitchen. Staff is fine but I guess it is what it is for the price you pay.

there's many people living there long term and it gets a bit messy if you are trying to Finde room for your belongings in the shared spaces

No frills hostel, simple room and facilities but good value. I was in a private lockable room for 1 night which was great :) reception staff were lovely and really helpful giving me advice about where to eat and shop. I would say the vibe of other hostel stayers was slightly off and I didn't feel massively comfortable in the kitchen. It seems like lots of kiwis live here longer term so maybe not right if you are looking for social backpackers.

Yikes… kinda surreal experience. People wandering the halls at night laughing to themselves, playing music, clutching their hair… A solitary bathroom with the sink out in the hall…. And the dorm room? Please let me never smell that smell again. Maybe it was the giant bag of onions and rice being stored in there but probably not. People turning the light on and yelling in the night… Bars on the reception desk window… I mean, good to get out of your comfort zone, I guess.

Well placed in Auckland but facilities are not as good as some backpackers I have stayed at.

I really liked the hostel, I was a bit scared because lf the other reviews , I take my chances and booked and I was really surprised, Enrique the manager was so helpful and nice , the cl3aners as well ,you cam tell them spend some money to make the hostel looks better, price/confort I can defenitly not complain, nothing luxurious but cheap and safe

Wouldn’t recommend this to any solo female traveller, or perhaps any backpacker in general. The place was dirty, smelt bad, and was mostly occupied by homeless people. This wouldn’t have been an issue if it wasn’t advertised as a hostel aimed at travellers. Just outside the hostel a woman tried to rob me and someone else was getting arrested from the hostel in the evening.
