THE PLACE Hostel Siem Reap

On arrival at the hostel , the staff were really friendly and the facilities looked great. They also had a lot of tour options. However once we got to our room we found bed bugs in both our beds. Therefore we decided not to stay here and went to another hotel that night. We explained the situation to the staff and they gave us a partial Refund.

There were bed bugs & the sheets were disgusting - I slept on the floor.

This is the third time I came The Place and I still recommend it. The rate is still ok despite the inflation and the current situation with the Iran war. We had 2 private rooms with my friend and it was ok. Of course it is very simple and I think it should be renewed in the bathroom because it is getting old (bath tub and sink). The air con is working well (but you cannot leave it if you are not in the room, but as almost all the hotels), no issue with the bed bugs in the 2 rooms, and the new staff is very nice: my friend's credit card had been catched by the ATM at night and they called the help number for us and helped us to get it back smoothly). They provided the guide and tuktuk driver and they were great! You are at 10 to 15 minutes walking from the pubs area, and the first temples at 15 minutes with the tuktuk. Of course I still recommend The Place.

DO NOT STAY HERE! They had bed bugs that luckily we noticed on the first night and left immediately. Staff were in denial and tried to blame us for bringing them with us!! They refused to give us a refund or let us talk to the manager. Our friends then stayed here 2 weeks later and saw bed bugs in two separate rooms. We now have met 5 separate groups of people along our travels who have stayed here and had experience of bed bugs. DO NOT STAY HERE!! The staff made us believe we had brought them with us and we believed them! Even though we had no bites we had just spotted them in the room. The staff were very helpful in washing our clothes but denied that they had bed bugs at all. When now we know this is not true from all the people who have said about it! They all had the same experience where the staff denied it and blamed it on them.

they have bedbugs... When I told them they denied it and tried to blame it on the last hostel I stayed at. But it was pretty clear that I got the bites that night and actually killed two bedbugs in my room.

After staying my first night at this hostel I woke up with bites from BED BUGS over my arm and back. I had friends staying in another room who seen an adult bed bug in their bed also. After talking to reception about this. They refused accountability and said that we had ‘bought’ the bed bugs with us. They refused to give us a refund and said we are ‘lucky’ to be able to have half our laundry done for free. This was handled appalling. And I wouldn’t recommend stay here unless you want bed bugs

Great ! A girl in my room had a suspicion of bed bug (false alarm) and the staff handle things well

No idea why it’s rated so well… The rooms are dark and small, the bathrooms dirty. No AC in most rooms, after upgrade with AC it was still so hot, just a little air coming out of the machine. The staff is very slow and not enthousiastic to help. Food also not great. We had to change rooms couple of times: disturbing other guests and suddenly a deep room cleaning without any information (bed bugs?). We also tried to book a tour with tourguide to angkor wat, only late in the evening before sunrise tour we got a message that they didn’t found a guide for us. Although our tuktuk driver was amazing i think the service of the hostel is just really bad. When we asked to cancel the next booking because we were unsatisfied with these things they were very impolite and didn’t want to give back any booking costs. There a way better accomodations for similar prices.. would not recommend
