⚠️⚠️ PUNAISES DE LIT ⚠️⚠️ J’ai passé 3 nuits dans cet hôtel (chambre double vue mer) et j’ai malheureusement fini recouverte de piqûres de punaises de lit - malgré un séjour agréable avant cette découverte.

Alojamiento con un buen embarcadero y buenas entradas al mar, además de contar con actividades, bar, restaurante y todo lo que puedes necesitar en una isla. El personal es muy amable y servicial. Nos picaron chinches en la habitación a los 5 que fuimos. De hecho, nos fijamos en que en una de las habitaciones la fumigación estaba caducada desde hacía unos días antes de nuestra llegada.

Nice ecological hostel, hammocks, swimming, activities. Dorm was very small.,we were 3 girls in a 4 bed dorm and there was hardly any space for luggage. and we could not be in the room at the same time, apart from sleeping as there was no space Apparently some rooms had bed bugs. I got bitten by some insects, but hopefully only mosquitoes.

⚠️ PUNAISES DE LIT ⚠️ La vue est belle. La nourriture, bonne et à prix raisonnable (pour autant que vous ne preniez pas du poisson) pour le lieu et pour être sur une île. Mais ça ne compense pas les nombreux désagréments. ⚠️ PUNAISES DE LIT ⚠️ Chambre infestée de punaises de lit : mon compagnon a été piqué à plusieurs reprises. Quand nous avons signalé le problème, la responsable s’est moquée de nous en prétendant que c’étaient des moustiques. Après insistance, on a obtenu une nuit gratuite (sur 3) et 100’000 COP pour le lavage de nos affaires, ce qui reste très insuffisant vu les conséquences (nous devons ABSOLUMENT TOUT laver à haute température voire jeter). En plus de ça, pas de rideaux dans la chambre donc réveil à la lumière du jour, pas de porte pour accéder au balcon ce qui laisse entrer toute la poussière et le vent (très désagréable le premier jour avec un gros orage), et pas assez de pression pour se doucher le premier soir — on a dû aller aux douches communes. Après plusieurs remarques, une intervention a été faite mais sans réel changement. L’organisation générale laisse à désirer : le bar a les mêmes horaires que le restaurant donc impossible de boire un verre l’après-midi, la réception est presque toujours vide.

It’s a really nice and friendly hostel with consciousness about the resource usage. The views and access to the sea is really cool: we did snorkeling (I find 20+15 COP quite a fair price for 2 h of exploring the reef) and saw almost all the fishes from the species card at the hostel 😅 the room was clean and tidy but somehow the Moskito net hasn’t protected us that much: we saw 4 🦟 full of blood in the morning inside it but it was not that bad. The stuff was also very helpful with organizing the return boat ride: we could just pay 80 COP during the check-out and all the organizing was done by them. I recommend opting for this, because from the experience of booking the boat ride by ourselves was more stressful (we bought tickets online with Juan Ballena) and we ended up with the guys from Mary Travels (the company that cooperated with Hamaquero hostel) anyway and paying more. Minor difficulty at the hostel is the drinking water: to refill it at the bar you need to ask the stuff, who was not there quite often. So make sure to bring a bigger bottle and not struggle with the smaller ones like we did. The atmosphere overall is very chill there: it allows you to relax but also sometimes it leads to the lack of organization. For the check out we were told initially that it’s 10:30 so we were ready to give away the keys at that time, waiting near the reception and only around 12 we heard from the other guests that today it will be much later at 13. Again, it’s nothing too bad: you can always chill in the hammocks and enjoy the view but the uncertainty and lack of communication made it’s slightly stressful. The food in restaurant is not great (as we learned from other reviews) but if you go swimming the whole day and come back hungry it’s quite good :) drinks were great though. the place might have bed bugs or other blood sucking insects in the furniture. I discovered a typical ‚bite line‘-patterns right below where the shorts fabric ends in the evening after we left (we slept one night there). I was sitting in the hammocks, chairs with pillows so it might be from there and not necessarily from the bed.

Cool place and one of our favourites in Colombia. The food is decent, service is good, staff are lovely, snorkelling is great. Bed bugs unfortunately. They dealt with the bed bugs okay, after a bit of confusion/denial at first they then changed the mattress for a new one on our second night, but we got bitten more, so they must just be in the wood and the room in general. Both nights we got bitten very, very badly and it takes time to heal. We also then found them in our luggage which hadn’t been near the bed so had to deal with that costing us more time and money. Hamaquero refunded us a night but in hindsight it should have been both nights given the added expense, time and injury on our part. They had fumigation people there straight away so I hope they can get on top of the bed bugs.

The place is amazing. Arguably the best location in the entire island. The sea and the sunset were just magical. Also the staff was amazing. Special mention to Felix! He took us around the town to get to know how locals live in the island. He made our stay a lot better! MOSQUITOES. I got severely bitten by mosquitoes. At this point I'm not sure if it were mosquitoes or bed bugs. I checked the mattress and it looked fine, also, the hostess told us they do pest control regularly.
