Hostel New Ipanema

Awful experience at this hostel. The staff were so rude, the room was pretty unpleasant, you had to pay if you wanted to leave your bags and the next day when waiting for our taxi, the staff told us to get out. Would not recommend.

This was the most horrendous hostel experience I’ve ever had. The male staff member was truly appalling. He was rude, unhelpful, disrespectful, and totally unpleasant. He walked in on me completely naked, without knocking, to my female only dorm. He did this, so he could reprimand a friend for accidentally leaving her towel outside the room. He then sent us a message warning that we would be fined if god forbid we left a towel on the railing again. Horrific. Don’t stay here. So small as well...

Très déçue de cette auberge dans laquelle je suis restée une semaine. Bien qu’elle soit bien placée, les dortoirs ne sont pas de 6 mais de 8 et donc certains lits n’ont pas de prise. Lors de mon départ, on m’a demandé de payer un jour supplémentaire car j’avais laissé mon backpack rangé, vers le lit de mon amie qui elle restait dans l’auberge. Vous devez également payer pour utiliser les toilettes après le check out. Et la gérante se moquait de moi ouvertement en portugais...

Hacinamiento total, wifi muy lento y fue el unico negocio en brasil que me cobro un 5% de recargo por pagar con tarjeta de credito.

Close to the beach, but they do not have lockers that you can lock your suitcases in! There are some smaller lockers for personal belongings, but not for even a carry-on suitcase. Also there is a fee for storing your bags if you arrive early or are checking out but have time before your flight, every hostile I’ve stayed in watched them for free.

It was fine! The kitchen and rooms are very clean and the location is perfect. The issue is that the hostel is swarming with mosquitoes. After staying here for almost a week, I was told I had to pay half of a nights stay to leave my backpack for a few extra hours, despite other guests checking out and leaving their bag for days. I’ve stayed in many hostels and I’ve always been allowed to leave my bag the day I check out. Staff was no considerate and a lot of things felt like a cash grab.

With the price point you might as well get an airbnb, they charge for everything! Towel not included, they won't hold on to your things like most hotels normally do without any problems. Only one bathroom for the whole floor of 12 beds, no working AC and pretty sure there was bed bugs. The location would be the best part of this hostel

Staff play loud music all day which can be heard in the bedrooms, so not recommended for those who want to relax or have some quiet time. Air con in my bedroom was outdated and very loud when turned on, which is disturbing during the night. Kitchen facilities are good and the hostel is generally clean. Some staff were nice, others quite unpleasant. Overall I would say I did not connect with this hostel.

I quickly understood that this hostel was not what I normally go for. If you want a social, vibrant place with energy, a receptionist who can speak english or big lockers to put your things in, this is NOT the place. Other than that, location is very good, the place is very clean, good beds, and okay kitchen facilities. Would not stay again though. Met some amazing people there, so that saved me.

This was amazing. Had a great stay. The people working here gave great recommendations for us in Rio. Loved our time there and was very close to some great restaurants and the beach. Also a nearby nightclub which was close (has a purple Rio sign above it). I would 100% recommend.

Really chill hostel! The staff was so friendly- thank you Pedro, Arturo, and Flor for being so kind! Great area, very clean, very safe. Will definitely stay again next time I’m in Rio.

Buena Ubicación. Cama es cómoda. Espacios comunes y patio. La cocina es un poco sucia, sobre todo xq los huéspedes no lavan bien sus cosas. No hay jabón para lavarse las manos, eso me pareció raro. El hostel en si es lindo, cómodo. calidad-precio me parece bien.

Mon séjour dans cet hostel s’est très bien passé. L’hostel est parfaitement situé en plein milieu d’Ipanema avec un supermarché dans la rue, des cafés et restaurants et à 2 minutes à pied d’Ipanema. Ce fut très agréable. De plus, le personnel est très armable et pour d’éventuelles recommandations. Le lieu est très propre, c’est très apréciable. Je recommandation vivement ! Merci :)

Posizione ottima e staff super gentile e disponibile, danno consigli su quello che c’è da fare in città. Ottimo per viaggiatori singoli, è facile conoscere persone. Letti comodi, ambienti puliti. Nonostante ci siano solo due bagni non l’ho mai trovato sporco o occupato troppo a lungo

If I could give 11 stars I would! I had the best time at this hostel. Great advantages are the location, in the heart of enchanting Ipanema, 5 minutes walking by the beach, the cleanliness and the staff that was always helpful, sharing the best advice and involving the guests in cool activities. I was travelling solo and as soon as I arrived, I was totally absorbed by the great atmosphere and company, 6 days flew by :) Highly recommended, looking forward to going back!

We loved our stay at Hostel New Ipanema! The rooms and public areas were so clean and the staff (especially Maria) were so friendly and helpful, and gave us amazing recommendations for our travels around Brazil. Thank you!

A great layout and location. A small shared room, but a place to sleep. The social side depends on other people staying there. But a great place to stay!

L’hostel est top mais vraiment cher et en plus du prix, le jour du Check out, ont vous demande un supplément de 40 réais si vous voulez laisser vos affaires avant de prendre votre bus ou de 70 si vous voulez utiliser les équipements (comme le wifi). Pour la laverie aussi très très cher, 50 réais par kilos
