Hostel Pastoral

The hostel was dingy and filthy. Bedding was dirty. Entrance hall had no lights making it unsafe and it smelt of wee like an underground station. Bathrooms and floor were disgusting. Not suitable for single female travelers. I have stayed in many hostels and this was by far the worst.

The shower in the mixed room smells like mold. The beds are low quality resulting in squeaking sounds all night. There are no hooks anywhere to keep your stuff in the washrooms to change. There are only two washroom stalls for all of the hostel rooms very inconvenient. The AC did not work well it got pretty hot at night which was uncomfortable. On the bright side, the staff is very polite and the location is great.

This place has a lot of room for improvement. The mattress are so worn out and some even broken. I had the chance to sleep in 3 different beds and only 1 mattress was ok. The bed frame was so dirty, I believe it has never been cleaned. There was a dead insect in the shower and it wasn’t washed off in one week, until I got fed up and washed it off. BED BUGS! Do not stay here. I have never paid so much $ for such a filthy, run-down, hostel in my life. The walls next to the bed had snot on them, the bathroom had mould growing everywhere, the toilet had not been cleaned, the shower had a big clump of hair that was still there after the cleaner came thru. We were booked for 4 nights, but our bunkmate showed us bed bug bites on her arm in the morning, so we packed up and had to pay more $ for a hotel last minute. Book a hotel, not this place.

Je ne me sens pas en sécurité la bas , et quand je voudrais donne ma place à ma copine qui besoins de place pour dormir , le manager est pas d’accord . La place est déjà payé mais je veux partir parce que je déteste l’endroit. Très sale !!!

A very very bad experience in this hostel. It was extremely dirty, the showers stinks. And my friend got bitten by bugs in bed. They have this kind of bugs which lives in bed. If I could give 0 start I will. And I strongly don’t recommend this place.

J AI ETE ETONNEE le décompte des lits etait faux les chambres ou nous étions 6 n avaient pas meme une chaise et surtout il y avait des punaises de lit sur les murs 2 garcons sont alles coucher ailleurs dans la nuit et moi qui avait paye d'avance ai été facturée de 61.20 euro je n'y comprend rien et fais réclamations merci

Worst hostel I've ever been in my whole life. MUY, muy sucio, tanto la habitación como el baño (hacía un ruido raro todo el tiempo). El colchón de mi cama estaba muy viejo, por lo que me hundía toda y ahora tengo un fuerte dolor de espalda. No hay seguridad para tus cosas, los lockers son muy pequeños y obvio no caben las maletas. No hay ambiente social, la cocina un asco con cosas podridas e insectos en la máquina de café. La ubicación es buena pero el barrio no es el más seguro. ...

Geht nicht ins Hostel Pastoral! Man fühlt sich absolut nicht wohl und es gibt Bettwanzen in den Zimmern. Ich hatte direkt nach der ersten Nacht Bisse am ganzen Körper. Wir haben das Hostel dann gewechselt.

Very old and there have been some rumors about bed bugs. There some videoes about that for like a mounth ago. I was asking about it, and they said 'allegedly' they had some last year. So they didn't do anything about it. I just think if you have bedbugs you need to get professionals out and I don't like be lied to. Made me feeling unsafe. It is also a very old place with only three toilets on the whole hostel without any sink. I would recommend anotjer place to feel more comfortable in Nice.

We had such a great time in this hostel! We were two girls staying in a 6 bed female dorm, it felt very safe and we also enjoyed the outdoor space and communal areas a lot :). It’s a super social hostel and there are lots of chances to meet other travellers! It’s not the most pristine in terms of cleanliness but would definitely recommend!

It’s a decent hostel. It is in need of a lick of paint and renovation but essentially everything works. It has a kitchen with a microwave, fridge and cooker. It also has cooking utensils. It’s on the first floor and has an elevator. It has several long-term residents ie workers staying at the hostel. This hostel was decent for the price. Inexpensive, but it was not the cleanest. The bathrooms were a bit dirty. It was also challenging to find. The building was marked Hotel Pastoral on the outside, but it was difficult to find the entrance. Location was pretty good, only 20 min to Old Town Nice. Overall, had a fine experience but it was not the best.

Overall experience at the hostel was mixed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. However, there is some clear cleanliness and security issues that could be significantly improved.

Loved this place. Nice clean rooms, full equipped kitchen, great staff too. Tom at reception was really knowledgeable and helped with whatever questions I had, fun to talk with as well. I can definitely recommend this place.

Very run down and dirty but also cheap. I did not experience any bed bugs like other reviews did. I would not recommend that you pay more than 20 euro a night to stay here. Would not recommend staying here if you like being comfortable and social, however if you need something cheap it works fine for a night. My suggestion to the owners would be to repaint everything and replace the furniture and dishes.

Gut zum Schlafen, Dusche im Zimmer kein Warmwasser. Gemeinsame Dusche nicht wirklich sauber. Ein paar kleine Dinge defekt wie 1 Licht, Toilettenpapierhalterung etc. Lage top.

Le staff est super et l’emplacement aussi, mais côté propreté oufffff 0/10, quand je suis arrivée sur ma couverture il y avait un bandaid souillé, ça sent l’urine dans l’immeuble, la cuisine c’était horrible, personne ne se ramassait, donc il n’y avait jamais de vaisselle propre. J’ai quitté les lieux beaucoup plus tôt que prévu parce que ça me dégoûtait trop. J’ai fait beaucoup d’hostel et celui là était un des pires.

Really nice hostel, just moved to a different one closer to the center because it was cheaper! But this hostel is pretty cool, didn’t meet many people tho but the staff is nice!

Really amazing staff felt super looked out for as women and in a great place.

I had a wonderful stay at Hostel Pastoral. The location is great. As I was journeying to surrounding areas a lot, being so close to Nice-Ville station was a life-saver. The staff are awesome; super friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Lovely terrace and well-equipped kitchen. The dorms are decent and a good size. Not all have toilets so that was one slight issue, but you only had to wait a bit for communal ones to become free. Overall, really great place to stay and nice atmosphere.

Sometimes you’re just looking for a place to stay but on a rare occasion you come across someone like Tom in Pastoral. The friendliest, most helpful most knowledgeable and engaging type of person. Having stayed in over 100 hostels around the world, Tom is the pinnacle of a hostel host. Good, youthful vibe in the hostel but if you want to know anything about anything in Nice or around the world - Tom is only too happy to indulge. See you in Ireland, brother!
