L’auberge était très sale (salle de bain très sale, odeur très désagréable dans les toilettes et dans la chambre, réfectoire sale.) Attention punaises de lit ! Mon amie s’est réveillée avec plein de piqûres sur les jambes. Il faut faire et défaire nos lits nous-même… Et tout ceci à un prix égal aux autres auberges qui proposent un service de bien meilleure qualité.

The kitchen is far too small for the number of people the hostel has capacity far and the quality of the rooms was very low, my pillow was thinner than my duvet, the head board of my top bunk was missing so my pillow also fell through in the night and I woke up with lots of bites on my ankles and legs that have swollen massively, the only thing I have ever reacted like that to is bed bugs and from reading other reviews I'm not the first person to mention this problem.

Bed Bugs. Went there about a year ago and didnt want to spend the night there because i found bed bugs in my room, so i left early and slept in my car. In the comments on google maps they said that they had recently fumigated all the buggy rooms, but obvoiusly this wasnt effective or new ones were brought in. Pricing is very cheap though, so if you dont mind a thousand stitches, go for it

Bedbugs, filthy toilets,unfriendly staff,not cleaners ,got a list 40 bites of bed bugs since they move people around the rooms because they don't have cleaners and the only thing I got was an apology??? Not even change the room just clean your own bed and move to another one I got pictures and videos with all of this bedbugs walking on your bed !!!!

The hostel is okay but I felt a little mislead by its high ratings. The first night I got bitten by so many bed bugs it woke me up. I know bed bugs are a difficult problem for hostels and many have them, but it did affect my experience sadly. The kitchen and dining areas are far too small for a hostel of its size. It would be good to see another kitchen installed on another floor as I had to wait until gone 9pm until there was enough space to cook my dinner. The staff were okay. I was also put in a room with long term guests so it was hard to make friends. Not terrible but I've stayed in much nicer places.

Tall building going up to 10. floor i think, equipped with these huge windows all the way round the building, so the whole place is very humid during summer months, no ventilation in the whole place, kitchen and rest of areas on each floor is very humid during summer. descent TV, common area on ground floor. Had bedbugs on sheets i got, problem was the sheets where dirty, and i was given these, very unacceptable. toilets and showers are not the best, was clean enough though.

Kitchen was too small and poorly later out with most of the cooking tops broken and the dinning area being separated. There was a flood on my floor. And worst of all there are Bed Bugs. And after speaking to others they seem to be on every floor. And it's probably because the mattress cover is never cleaned and the rooms are never actually deep cleaned. Unfortunately this place doesn't offer refunds so book less than a week before committing.

Bedbugs!!! Bedbugs in almost ALL of the rooms!!!

The room opposite to opposite to ours has a notice to say that the room needed to be evacuated the next day to have a thorough clean and all bags, clothes etc. for everyone would b washed at the hostels expense. Clearly there are bed bugs here and they were foolishly trying to eradicate them from the one room. Lots of long term and students living there, kitchen was tidy, blinds in the room only worked over half the window, bathrooms were tiny and you could see into the windows from the outside. Left soon after and will never return. Later found that the BED BUGS had spread to our room. One of the girls had bites the next day and then we all had them. Had to get rid of my backpack, suitcase, some shoes and other items to get rid of them. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. The hostel don’t even care and just let more people stay there every day DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

Infested with bed bugs and they make no attempt to solve the issue and check people into the room after I informed them about the situation. I literally have 1000 bites all over me.

My bad has a lot of bedbugs ... After 5 days I can’t sleep at all ... One of the worst experience of my life.

In an objective way I could say there is always better place to go but also worse place too. Choice backpackers is one of or maybe the cheapest hostel that you can find in town. Easy to get around to. Bus stop pretty much outside the hostel. Skybus is approximately 300 meter away from the hostel . I have seen this place improving a lot over my stay there. + You can chill out in the lobby play pool table, Foosball, read on the sofa or just tchatting with people around. + Free Wi-Fi + Netflix, amazon premium are available in the TV room. + possibility to change you linen everyday as long as you bring it down between 5am and 11am if I am right. + Bathrooms and toilets as far as I am aware are cleaned twice a day. ( when people complain that it's dirty I probably wouldn't blame the hostel as they try their best to keep it clean but a minority of people who can not clean after themselves but as we say common sense is not common for everybody ..). + rooms are cleaned every day . + Personally I've never ever experienced any problem with bedbugs... -- The down point for me would be the kitchen. It's too small even tho they have a dining area now. It's difficult to cook when "hundred" People are trying to cook at the same time. -- Two washing machines and dryers are maybe not enough. Overall, I have never had any issues and if I had one the staff is always more than happy to help you out . I have plenty of good memories and I have met so many nice people. I am not giving 5 stars because improvement is the key and result matters... x

Easy going. Perfect opportunity to meet a lot of people from different countries. The staff is also nice and funny. The lobby is a nice spot to chill out. All in all it's clean and the bathrooms are good. The showers are very nice. The kitchen is ok, but really small. The only bad thing is that the hostel had a lot of bed bugs. Also in my room. All in all, there are maybe better hostels in Auckland. But for this price and this location, you can't find something else. Especially with cool people. I really appreciate it and that was the reason why I came back after 6 months.

The staff was in bad faith, didn’t even apologise and tried to retort the situation by saying that we were the ones who brought the bedbugs (while the dormitory next to ours was closed for desinfection....!) Plus kitchen is very small, as the dinning room ..

Ich würde definitiv nicht wieder kommen. Aber erstmal zu den positiven Dingen. Die Lage ist wirklich perfekt, direkt an der Queenstreet bekommt man alles was man braucht. Supermarkt auch direkt in der Nähe. Zudem ist das Personal sehr freundlich und Hilfsbereit. Also jegliche Kritik ist nicht an das Personal gerichtet, jedoch... ... leben in dem Hostel Bettwanzen. Ich habe über 100 Stiche am ganzen Körper und es juckt extrem stark (ähnlich wie ein Mückenstich). Das Hostel hat wirklich alles getan, was nötig ist, um diese Parasiten zu bekämpfen und haben uns in ein anderes Zimmer gebucht (zudem wurden unsere Sachen kostenlos gewaschen), aber ich denke, dass dort immer noch welche leben werden, denn überall wo kleine Ritzen sind (sei es herausgefallend Steckdosen, die es oft dort zu finden gibt) leben sie. Des Weiteren ist an der Decke häufiger Schimmelbefall zu finden, ist wirklich kein schöner Anblick, besonders nicht im Essenszimmer. Die Küche ist eine Katastrophe. Jeder lässt dort seine Sachen liegen und bringt sie nicht an den Platz zurück (da frage ich mich, was sich die anderen Gäste eigentlich denken, denn das ist ein Hostel und kein Hotel, wo die Angestellten die dreckigen Teller zurück bringen). Es sah deshalb immer chaotisch aus in der Küche. Hinzu kommen kaputte Herdplatten, ein nicht funktioniernder Ofen, und zum Teil auseinander fallende Töpfe und Pfannen (kein Scherz, mind. 50% haben keinen Griff mehr) Zudem ist der Platz in der Küche ungenügend, Abends ist es zu oft komplett überfüllt, da mag man einfach nicht mehr drin kochen. Einige Zimmer rochen extrem muffig, jedoch noch positiv anzumerken sind die doch bequemen Matratzen gewesen. In der vierten Etage, in dem Zimmer nachdem wir umgebucht wurden, konnte man die Tür nicht schließen, da das Holz vermutlich inzwischen verzogen war und aufgequollen ist. Die Toiletten sowie Duschen war eher unteres Mittelmaß, nicht schön, Toilettenpapierhalter teilweise beschädigt, aber nutzbar. Die Dusche hatte einen vernünftigen Druck und die Temperatur war zufriedenstellend. Staumöglichkeiten für Wertsachen gibt es nicht, außer man gibt sie an der Rezeption ab, das hat mich aber nach 3 Tagen schon etwas genervt. Generell gab in den Zimmern keine Staumöglichkeiten für Rücksäcke oder ähnliches. Fazit: Ich würde 2 Sterne geben, aber aufgrund des Bettwanzenbefalls ist es nur einer. Für kurze Aufenthalte in Ordnung. Preis Leistung ist dennoch etwas zu hoch, aber noch okay. Ich war eine Woche mit meiner Partnerin in einem gemischten 8 Bettzimmer, nach 5 Tagen Zimmer Wechsel und ich bin froh, nicht mehr dort sein zu müssen. Sorry Choice Backpackers, aber das hat meinem Erwartungen so gar nicht entsprochen.

Parfaitement situé. Première impression en rentrant dans la chambre: une humidité et une odeur plutôt gênantes car les fenêtres ne s'ouvrent pas. Les salles communes sont plutôt propres, tout comme les toilettes. Mauvaise rencontre avec deux personnes extrêmement bruyantes et malpolies (à 3h du matin), bien que l'hostel n'y soit pour rien. J'ai été piqué par des punaises de lit, très certainement ici.

First of all , i had stay 2 weeks second week i changed my room but room air condition doesnt work.. Room was all dirty and... Bed bugs eaten my all neckle area , ankles and wrists! I still try to rid of them.. , toilets also dirty, always pubes hair in the shower area, this was my one of the worst accommodation experience ever!

I usually don’t do reviews but this place really had me tear out my hair. When I first arrived they were completely full, but after 15 min waiting, they found me a room so good so far. As I arrived in my room on the fourth floor I noticed severe amount of mold on the tiles and the air was very dry since there are no openable windows. When I started talking with my roommate she mentioned that another guy had left the room because of bedbugs and that a desinfection was planned for the day after tomorrow, so they deliberately put me into a room which allready had bedbugs in it. I waited for the desinfection, woke up every morning with a sore throat, got all my things washed and went to another room, turns out it had bedbugs aswell so I changed my hostel and bought my own bedbug spray. The manager was really friendly though and you could see she made an afford to control the problem but that afford was not enough. Kitchen is very small for so many people and half of the reception staff is unfriendly as.
