Unfortunately there were bedbugs. I informed the receptionist the next morning. This is a 4 star hotel, so bedbugs shouldn’t be acceptable.

I didn't find bed bugs but I did find Carpet beetle larva crawling on the floor of my room (see photo) I took one to the reception and gave it to the young woman in a cup. The room had been cleaned but I found what appeared to be a grain of black rice on the floor and the vacuum cleaner used by housekeeping doesn't get close to the edge of the walls so the was a 1-2 com rim of dust built up around the edge of the room. On check out a surly young man with a contemptuous smile refused point-blank to cancel my pre-authorised £50 deposit. He was rude and quite frankly obnoxious even when I showed him the T&Cs that the K hotel had sent me which stated that the deposit would be canceled on departure (he kept inserting 'on the day of' before departure which clearly was not what was written (See photo). I am a 50-something non-drinking, non-smoking businessman traveling alone on business not an 18-year-old group of backpackers, I asked if the room could be inspected now and he refused. I received a message the next day saying the deposit had been canceled. The view from the window was another window about 2 meters away and enclosed in the building thankfully the blind worked so I just closed it. I will not be staying at this hotel again and would not recommend it.

Hotel is infested with bed bugs and refuses to refund. On arrival I inspected my mattress and found a bed bug shell, I was offered a second room 2 floors down from the first and found another bed bug shell, I was then offered a third room which I did not inspect on the basis that if there are 2 rooms with bed bugs in a property that are far apart then a lot of the rooms will have bed bugs. I then checked out. Hotel staff did not appear to understand that bed bugs were an issue nor that “thorough cleaning” would not resolve the bed bug issue. After checking out I attempted to get a refund as the room was not fit for purpose (the property is infested with bed bugs) and was denied. Currently in the process of investigating my options.
