Hospederia Thiamalu

Whilst the accommodation was clean and comfortable, with a lovely host our experience was marred by the payment process. Our hostelworld deposit was not a deposit but in addition to the room cost as asserted by the host. Then instead of credit card we were pushed to use PayPal and made to pay the 5% PayPal service charge fee! This made the accommodation expensive for us and considerably more than it was advertised for.

The owner is great. She is very helpful and knows a lot: very friendly lady and also provides you with her phonenr to contact her via whatsapp if needed. The room is basic, but clean. Very outdated. Breakfast is basic but fine (she does serve croissants, so that's nice). My stay was nice here, but I do think the room is relatively expensive for the very basic facilities. There is a space (at the reception) where you can sit and hang out, but it's not a very nice space to hang out. Wifi is very...

More a b&b than a hostel with comfortable rooms, close to the bus station and the starting point for lots of walks. However, there are no self-catering facilities despite what is advertised on Hostelworld; this was described as a misinterpretation to us when we asked to use the kitchen. The host is very nice and provides a good breakfast, however, often appeared stressed. The payment process was complex as PayPal had to be used and we were taxed an extra 18% that was unexpected.

Alejandra made our trip, she was great. Breakfast was pleasant and the room and location were good. There is no access to the kitchen facilities for guests despite it saying that on the description, however Alejandra will cook something for you if you provide ingredients. Spacious rooms,good breakfast, feels like you’re staying with your mum!

SUPERB breakfast! We were extremely disappointed at payment that the deposit - paid in our home currency ($26CAD) - was not deducted from the total price, which the owner insisted was always the case (we double checked with HW - it's not). With the 10% tax added at reservation - only at this hostel, not at others in town - we ended up paying 62,000ARS plus the deposit rather than the listed 50,000. Also a 10% fee to pay with card - crazy! Could have been great but instead we left feeling sad...

Great location, very comfortable bed, great shower. The host was lovely and helpful, even gave us and early breakfast and took us to the bus station. El Chalten is expensive throughout the resort. Initially we thought the room was on the small side but it was so comfortable it was actually perfect especially the location. Views of Fitz Roy. Totally recommend this hostel.

Der Check-in war sehr flexibel und die Lage ist sehr gut: Supermarkt, Restaurants und Cafés in direkter Nähe. Es gibt ein sehr gemütliches Früstückszimmer, in dem ich von der sehr netten Gastgeberin ein leckeres Frühstück bekommen habe. Zudem habe ich dort auch sehr gut arbeiten können.

Really nice homely property. More of a bnb than a hostel. Just 4 private rooms off a house with doors straight to the outside. Breakfast was provided every morning. Alejandra was a great host and couldn’t do more for you!

Alejandra is a very friendly and helpful host! Breakfast is very delicious and has many options. She knows all about the trails and provides very helpful recommendations. We would definitely stay here again!

The owner was so welcoming and helpful. She makes a packed breakfast for guests who have early hikes. The room itself was cosy, clean and had everything I needed. Would highly recommend staying here

Das Hotel ist sehr gemütlich und sehr ruhig gelegen. Was uns aber sehr gefreut hat war der Service von Alejandra. Sie ist eine super freundliche Frau und hat uns bei allem geholfen! Sie hat uns auch jeden Tag Frühstück serviert, auch wenn wir teilweise sehr früh los sind. Die ganzen Wanderungen in El Chalten sind auch zu Fuß von dort aus erreichbar! Wir würden auf jeden Fall für die Gastfreundschaft wiederkommen!

Absolutely loved our stay here at Thiamalu, Alejandra was an incredibly accommodating host. Thiamalu is classic Bed & breakfast in a truly wonderful town. Our 5 days here were a real highlight in our time in Argentina! Muchas gracias, Alejandra! 🥰

Hospederia Thiamalu was great for our stay in El Chaltén. It was clean, calm, comfortable and had everything we needed. Our host was super nice and friendly and super helpful. I recommend.

Alejandra is so genuine and so kind, I love her passion. This is a small business and she has the sense of hospitality. She will make sure you have enough food and will give you plenty of local recommendations. Honestly the portions for breakfast are amazing. Close from the Main Street. 2 km walking distance to the head trail of Fitz Roy.

Die Gastgeberin Alejandra ist super hilfsbereit und hat sich sehr gut um uns gekümmert. Das Frühstück war fabelhaft. A backt sogar das Brot selber. Der Gemeinschaftsraum lädt dazu ein sich abends dort aufzuhalten und sich z.B. noch eine Pizza im Ofen aufzuwärmen. Eine Küche in der man selbst kochen könnte gibt es nicht. Wir können die Unterkunft nur empfehlen. Allerdings würde ich nicht mehr gerne über Hostelworld buchen wegen missverständlichen Preisangaben

Das Hostel ist wunderbar und die Besitzerin sorgt für ein rundum sorglos Paket. Also ich an einem morgen bereits vor Frühstücksbeginn los bin für eine Wanderung hat sie mir eine Lunchbox gerichtet, sodass ich trotz dessen Frühstück hätte. ☺️ Das Zimmer war auch super sauber und schön.

We loved our stay here!! Alejandra was so sweet and nice and provided such a welcoming and cozy atmosphere. Great breakfast and a perfect area to chill and drink mate while waiting for the rain to pass. Her son also gave us a mate making demonstration. Thanks for everything!

Alexandra was a really great host! She helped us with all our issues, checked the weather on hikes we were planning to do etc. all in all a great experience!

Alejandra was a fanastic host! Easy to find, close to bus terminal and hiking routes. Bed was comfortable and bathroom super clean. Also able to rent ice cleats and poles if needed. Highly recommend a stay with Alejandra!

Nice room and centrally located

I had a fantastic stay. Alejandra is a warm and welcoming host, and prepares a great breakfast every morning. accommodations were clean and well taken care of. The hostel is located on the other side of town from the major trailheads, but its not a far walk and it was nice to get to explore the totality of El Chalten. I highly recommend and would absolutely stay here again.
