Si vous ne voulez pas retrouver des cafards ou des moucherons dans votre nourriture, ni risquer de dormir dans une chambre infestée de punaises de lit, passez votre chemin. La cuisine est dans un état déplorable, l'ascenseur dégage une forte odeur d'urine et, comme cela a déjà été signalé à de très nombreuses reprises dans les avis Google, il y a des punaises de lit. Malheureusement, je n'avais pas consulté ces avis avant de réserver, car Booking ne met pas toujours tout en évidence. Fenêtre cassée et bloquée (Ouverte) impossible de fermer (signaler à la réception). Trop de bruit, impossible de dormir. Concernant les équipements, l'eau chaude fonctionne une fois sur deux : préparez-vous à prendre des douches froides. Face à tous ces problèmes, nous avons demandé un geste commercial. Le personnel nous a assuré que les dernières nuits nous seraient remboursées puisque nous avons quitté l'établissement plus tôt. À ce jour, nous n'avons rien reçu. Je tiens toutefois à souligner que les réceptionnistes ont été aimables et ont fait de leur mieux pour nous aider face à cette situation. Mon avis négatif ne les concerne pas. En revanche, je trouve que la direction n'a pas été correcte dans sa gestion du problème ni dans le suivi des engagements qui nous avaient été annoncés. De plus, l'établissement ne semble pas respecter les procédures habituelles en cas de présence de punaises de lit, notamment en matière d'information et de prise en charge des clients concernés. En résumé : fuyez cet endroit.

Bed bugs crawling around, hope I don’t bring some with me home. Everyone was loud, not respecting silence, turning lights on at night. Some people seem to stay there for casual living.

I walked into this place and the mauri was just gone. Straight away, the smell hits you—stale sweat, old kai, and that dampness that gets right into your bones. It’s not just a budget stay; it’s a total lack of manaakitanga. The room was a shocker. I pulled back the sheets and found hair that definitely wasn’t mine and stains that looked decades old. Then the "locals" came out—cockroaches scuttling across the floor like they owned the place, and bedbugs that treated me like a buffet all night. I woke up covered in bites, feeling absolutely hōhā and filthy. The shared kitchen was a biohazard. Mould in the fridges, benches covered in grease, and bins overflowing with rubbish. It felt like walking into a tip. When I tried to talk to the staff, they didn't give a toss. No respect, no care, just stone-cold rudeness. Seriously, whānau, steer clear of this hole. It’s a total disgrace to Auckland. Save your money and your health—don't let the cheap price fool you, because the state of this place is absolutely tutae. Never again.

I don't normally leave reviews but just a warning to anyone coming here just DONT unless you want to be covered head to toe in bedbugs and live in filthy conditions .A hostel in India for 1 doller a night is much better. The owner should be ashamed i would like to see him/her survive one night in that hell hole !!!

It wasn't good because on my second night the bed bug bit me and I had difficult days with a lot of burning and itching; it burned my arm. I had to buy cream and pills to relieve the itching, it was terrible.

Can the owners take some responsibility? If you get reviews almost every week complaining about bed bugs, YOU ARE THE PROBLEM. Yes other hostels and hotels experience bed bugs, but they eradicate them. It is not a recurring issue. You claim to be working with the council on the issue, if you were actually doing something about it you wouldn't still be getting complaints all the time. Regardless how cheap you are, there is still the expectation to have clean rooms, and above all be bed bug free. By not fixing the issue you are risking travellers spreading them to other accomodation as they can hide and travel in luggage. The location of this hostel is excellent, if some effort was put into this place you could charge a lot more per night. Your Google review score is 2.2, you are the problem, now get a grip and stop subjecting your customers to bed bugs

Die Lage des Hostels ist wirklich top und für den günstigen Preis darf man definitiv keinen hohen Standard erwarten – das passt soweit auch. Aber eine Frage bleibt: Muss es für den Preis gleich gesundheitsgefährdend sein? Was ich wirklich frech finde, ist die Mail vor der Anreise, in der das Thema Bettwanzen angesprochen wird und die Verantwortung indirekt auf die Gäste geschoben wird. Wenn man sich die Bewertungen anschaut und gefühlt jede zweite davon von Bettwanzen berichtet, kann es wohl kaum sein, dass all diese Gäste das Problem selbst mitgebracht haben. Dann müsste es ja in jedem Hotel ständig Bettwanzen geben. Ein ehrlicher und professioneller Umgang mit dem Thema wäre hier deutlich angemessener.

Got bitten by many bed bugs, everything was very dirty, the locks in the shower and toilet got stuck and were hard to unlock, there was no recycling provided.

This place needs to be condemned. Bedbugs, mold, holes in walls, broken toilets, filthy kitchen, useless showers etc.

I was really well taken care of at this backpackers. I know many people mention bed bugs, and to be honest, I did experience that as well. However, I still remember how comfortable my stay was because of the great location, the affordable price, and the kindness of the staff. If I go back to New Zealand, I will definitely come back here!!!!! Thank you so much for everything🤗

Wir waren drei Nächte da, es wurde nie in den Zimmern gesaugt oder ähnliches. Es ist alles sehr heruntergekommen und alt. Die Bettbezüge haben Flecken und es gibt Bettwanzen in mehreren Zimmern. Das Wasser beim Duschen wird manchmal garnicht warm und mam muss mit kaltem Wasser duschen. In der Küche gibt es zwar Utensilien aber es ist generell unhygienisch.

First time a stayed there, I got some bizarre button everywhere on my body. I just landed in NZ so I thought, maybe I don't handle there mosquito bites. I came back two month later, stayed in the same hostel, and got again this fuck*ng crazy bites. So... It's just infested by bed bugs actually...

I’ve stayed in lots of hostels. This is the worst one I have ever stayed in. The ONLY good thing about this place is the price. A lady got bed bug bites and left her room. The kitchen was the worst I have ever seen, covered in mold, someone told me they saw a rat. They use black bed sheets as I’m assuming it’s to hide stains because they are too cheap to buy new ones. I had many creepy experiences with old men. I highly do not recommend this place, there’s better ons for around the same price.

Das Personal war super nett und hilfsbereit. Die Lage ist top und die ersten Nächte waren auch wirklich super. Nur leider habe ich in den letzet 2 Nächten 30 Bettwanzen Bisse bekommen welche unerträglich waren.

You could not pay me to stay here again, after finding a bedbug crawling on me the day i checked out i checked the reviews and there are many other findings of bedbugs here, these are almost impossible to get rid of and were even present in the private room i rented

Bedbugs - do no recommend! Unfortunately can not recommend this place. The only good thing about it was WiFi and location but the room, bathrooms and kitchen were neglected. The room was dirty and we found bedbugs. We requested a vacuum and a change of bedsheets that however didn’t help. The kitchen is a mess, always dirty and all the kitchen utensils other broke or overused. Rotten bags of food unchecked by staff therefore lots of cockroaches around and the bathrooms also quite bad, soap dispenser broke and leaking and can’t even use it.

There are bedbugs, the hot water takes over 10 minutes to arrive and only stays hot for 2 minutes. The refrigerators are extremely dirty. The cleaning has been done, it just needs renovating; it's bordering on unsanitary.

El hotel estaba muy sucio, las habitaciones compartidas olían muy mal. Había personas con picaduras de chinches. La ubicación estaba miy bien porque esta en el centro pero no vale la pena

This is the worst place where you can stay in Auckland, I paid 2 nights and regretted it instantly hallways smell awful, no hot water in the showers, the room is hot as hell with a little fan for ventilation, dirty mattress and sheets, and infested of bed bugs, we spent four hours trying to remove everything from our stuff, we found in our backpacks, electronic devices, and in our clothes of course. I’m writing this one day after my checkout and I am still trying to clean everything out as bed bugs keep appearing. Don’t stay in this place or you will regret it.

Stayed for 5days and 4nights at the hotel, the bed is not clean, it has bed bugs, and now I’m suffering from all the bites. Sometimes the main gate also is not working so you have to wait if someone is going out.

Les punaises de lit sûrement présente même si le personnel fait comme si de rien était. Ils traitent certains lits mais elles se déplacent. Ma coloc de chambre était piqué partout. La réceptionniste m'a menti quand je lui ai demandé si il y avait des punaises de lit dans ma chambre elle a dit non, pas dans la vôtre ;)

we stayed one week, during so we had a hard time having good sleep because of so much constructions around. The people working here were really kind people and easy to live around here. The disappointing experience is to find bedbugs, have a lot of bites and no real measures to try to make it better except a spray bottle if you ask so. It was complicated to have 4$ to dry our things before getting out. Lot of weird odors, cheap but don't have high expectations.

I have to say with a lot of respect that I didn’t like the hostel at all. I mean for the price is not too bad but there is a lot of things they could improve. I stayed in room 208 (6-beedroom and it wasn’t nice. First of all, people staying there, maybe long term (I dunno), had a mess inside the room so it’s not just hostel’s responsability. Besides that, I couldn’t be in the room during the day because is too hot, also It felt like heavy, dense air. There is a just a small window that doesn’t help with the ventilation of the room. Even at night was a little bit harder to fall sleep. The other room I stayed in was ok, but I got biten by bed bugs or fleas. At the toilets, there was no towel nor paper towel, and the hand dryer doesn’t work. The kitchen is very small, and there is not enough space at the fridges (just 2). Also, It wasn’t any place to chill or seat apart from the reception area that has just some benches cushion in it. Reception closes at 11 PM so after that you can either seat on the only chair outside of the reception or in a bench cushion outside of the laundry at the basement.

Ce logement est dégueulasse du sol au plafond. Il y a des cafards dans la cuisine, des punaises de lit dans les chambres, pas d'eau chaude le soir et l'ascenseur ne marche pas. C'est le pire séjour que j'ai pû avoir dans ma vie. Supprimez ce logement de booking s'il vous plaît. Le responsable est carrément au courant de tous ces problèmes et n'en a rien à faire. Le prix est attractif mais vous apportera plus de problèmes qu'autres choses. FUYEZ !!

*I only stayed 1 night!* For me, doesn't deserve the low reviews. Yes it's a little dirty but nothing crazy. For a cheap hostel, it's good. No, I didn't see any bedbugs in my bed and the sheets looked clean. Overall it's totally fine, like obviously not a nice hotel but who cares. Front desk staff were very friendly as well and tried to give me the lowest price possible. It is pretty loud though but that's because everyone is just having a good time and generally just being happy.

I stayed here for 2 nights (15–17 June 2025), and I regret it. I'm a backpacker from the Czech Republic and asked about bed bugs when I checked in. The staff assured me there were none, claiming it's only “a summer problem.” The next morning, I woke up covered in bites—and found a live bed bug in the bed. When I told the manager, he gave me $40 for laundry and brushed it off like it happens all the time. No apology, no action. Based on how casual he was, they already know this hostel has a serious infestation. After checking Google reviews (too late), I realized many others also reported bed bugs, but nothing seems to have changed. This place is still open and booking new people. If you stay here, you risk taking bed bugs into your luggage and spreading them to your next stop. I've reported this to Auckland Council and Hostelworld, and I’ll be contacting the media too. People deserve to know the truth. It's not worth it, bites are itchy every day and it takes up to 2 weeks apparently to heal.

Chinches en la cama (más de 20). Tuvimos que irnos a las 2 de la mañana y buscarnos otro hotel. Pese a que nadie habría dormido en esa cama, el Manager se niega a reembolsar el dinero. La limpieza es mínima, solo cambian las sábanas (creo) y aspiran la moqueta (con manchas de sangre que llevarán años).

Como se suele decir por ahi, le pongo un 1 porque no se puede poner 0. Cuando nos tumbamos en la cama la primera vez nos apareció un bicho marrón, le matamos y no quisimos darle mayor importancia. De madrugada me empezó a picar todo el cuerpo y al encender la luz había insectos de ese tipo por toda la cama, grandes, medianos y pequeños. No dudamos en hacer las maletas e irnos a otro hotel. Como no hay recepcion ni forma de contactar con ellos a esas horas tuvimos que volver al día siguiente. Por favor si estas a tiempo y les los comentarios no vayas a este sitio. Nosotros no lo hicimos y nos arrepentimos después. No se si me duele más haber pagado dos hoteles en una noche o el trauma que tengo de haber despertado entre chinches.

Bedbugs! Sometimes you've gotta do what you've gotta do, but if you have the money to stay literally anywhere else, do so!
