J'ai dormi deux nuits début août avec mon frère au Mada Hostel. On a laissé des affaires personnelles dans un sac sur lequel j'avais marqué mon nom. Le propriétaire de l'hostel l'a pris en m'affirmant le mettre de côté pendant mon absence. En revenant un mois plus tard, on me dit qu'une fille qui travaille là aurait ouvert mon sac. La moitié de mes affaires est éparpillée dans plein de placards différents, on passe une demi-heure avec des volontaires à les trouver. L'autre moitié ...

Full of mold. Looks close to the city, but the gates on one side of the street close at night, so you have to walk a long loop back at night.

My first horrible experience!! There's two houses of this hostel: The second one (100m away from main building) was not finished (structural construction works), the room was way too small for two people, the mattress as hard as wood (!) and mold on the furniture and walls. There was rubble everywhere and many people were still loitering in the accessible areas at night. The rooms were clearly overcrowded with migrants, it looked like a shady side business. Hostel is now under HW-investigation.

Beds are rock solid. We got a private room. The mattress was really hard and the pillows really small and thin. The overall facilities are very basic and people (guessing it’s staff?) sleep on the couches in the common area. Very good location though. Not worth what we paid ($50 Australian dollars for one night in a private). Wouldn’t stay again.

We were in the outbuilding of the 2nd house and the room was very damp, all our things became wet while we were there. Staff and location good, kitchen useable, bathrooms nice.

Smelled like mold in our room (wizard). The room had no ventilation and all, so sleeping was really hard as it got warm and no oxygen. Room was facing the street and outdoor area where people came and sat to talk (scream) with their friends after a night out. The mattress was as hard as the floor, really painful to sleep at. Too many people staying in one house with only two showers, it got really messy and dirty. Live the neighbourhood though

Weird hostel really. The hostel is split into 2 different houses on the same street, we checked in at one house and then was led to the other house to our room. The second house is a bit of a building site, work going on at the back and supplies left at the front. On our final night, a skip was delivered at 1am! Kitchen is dirty, and was missing basics! Fridge was disgusting, it stunk as soon as the door was opened. Also, absolutely no vibe, no atmosphere. Just people on laptops.

It’s a really nice place to chill but still close to a lot of bars. I loved the area and the people were nice, not to social though

Amazing location for exploring the city and a super safe street that was locked and guarded at night. No social atmosphere but the kitchen was well stocked and clean. We stayed in a private room which was attached to the outdoor patio and the main social space so could be quite loud. The window also is next to the outdoor tables so little privacy. Good if you need a place to crash for the night.

Good if you like it to be lively in the evenings, in a very busy area for nightlife but I enjoyed it here. Rooms are basic but not expensive

Love it! Great position: barrio safe, full of nice bars and shops, in a quite street. Staff very kind, they invited guests to a tipical Brasilian party and were very welcoming. In the hostel good common areas to chil or to work. Big kitchen. Go there! (:

I thought the space was good but I went in summer, no AC and it was very hot in shared room. The fan was on but didn’t reach me. Too hot to sleep but they gave me a fan but I left bad because it didn’t help everyone. Otherwise great space!

Great location

Good secure location, Filipe spoke English and was super friendly and helpful. It's a small place but has a large kitchen, incredibly clean bathrooms with spacious showers and comfy beds. The beds in the dorm just need curtains and the WiFi wasn't working although we could go to their other site to use it.

Great experience. Staff was kind and met some good friends. Will be back next time I’m in São Paulo!

An affordable option but lacking in social atmosphere for such a vibrant area. I stayed in the second house 100m up the street which has construction materials in the front outdoor area and there was a car parked in this communal area for the duration of the weekend. Staff are kind and welcoming but the hostel itself has a real low energy feeling and no one wants to spend time in the communal spaces. It might be better if you stay in the main building but I can’t speak to that.

Cozy little hostal with terrace, good kitchen, my dorm even had a little balcony. Location is perfect - just next to bars in Vila Madalena, hence can be a little loud at night but I did not mind that !

Bed bugs. Not very social hostel
