The Rumi

The hostel isn't bad for the price but ABSOLUTELY avoid Room Z bed 1. Received 4 total bites from bedbugs during my stay and they couldn't switch me to a different room since all beds were booked out. Staff was helpful enough but not much they could do.

Be careful because this location has bed bugs!

-Edit 2- Apparently, I didn't get a refund. I only found out after the Rumi contacted me again, asking me to remove my review for a refund. I found it weird for them to offer me that since I thought they already refunded me, but according to my bank statement, I was still charged. Now they are using it as a bargaining chip for this review. I posted a chat history in the pictures regarding the exchange. -Edit 1- I had a bad experience here with bed bugs and the Rumi reached out to me to remove my review. The contents of my previous review are after this next paragraph. The bed bug situation was terrible, and I will not make light of it, but the staff members that help me during this ordeal were kind and I at least want to acknowledge that. The person who checked me in did a thorough job and I felt safe enough to come up to them for my problems. I also lost my convention badge during my stay, too, but a staff member was kind enough to keep it for me. Perhaps this is a given, but it is appreciated, nonetheless. The Rumi has already issued me a refund. -Original Review- "I stayed at The Rumi Hostel from July 4th to July 7th and had a awful experience due to a bed bug infestation. My bunk was not properly cleaned, leading to severe bites all over my body. Despite reporting the issue, the hostel was fully booked and I was moved to a staff bunk, which didn't resolve the problem. I had to seek urgent care for the bites on my body and was given prescription grade cream for the welts. This experience also cost me additional money for bed bug control measures at home. In summary, my stay at The Rumi was extremely distressing. I would not recommend this hostel only for the bed bugs I included pictures of some of the bites. The first picture was on the 7th. The following pictures were on the 11th."

DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU ARE AMERICAN. Especially if you are black. Their target audience is traveling europeans. You probably won’t get treated well. That Girl at the front desk SUCKS they over charged me. I didn’t stay my full reservation. And they have BED BUGS not the vibes

My bed was unclean and there was a bed bug infestation my bunk. The staff did move me to another room, but I still left the Hostel with bites on my entire body. The bites were so severe, I had to seek urgent care after returning home. I also had to throw away the things that were in contact with the bed bugs. I tried to contact the staff after the trip, but all I received was a canned apology and the empty promise of compensation. Overall, it was a stressful experience.

The rude skinny girl with dark hair behind the desk should be FIRED!!! She is AWFUL with customer service. The hostel has BED BUGS!!!! Lots of them, Oh and say Hello to the pet RAT just inside the gate, You'll feel better. The people there are nice especially Vanessa she is a SWEETHEART. Otherwise spend extra money and go elsewhere. Bathrooms are awful. They dont want you to flush toilet paper?? WTF?? Stay away Please!!

Extreme bed bug problem in every bed. I found a huge one on my bed and sent a photo to the staff. They changed my room and gave me $6 off one single night (at my request, not theirs). Got bit again in the room they switched me to. Received about 20 bites. Overall friendly hostel environment, felt safe, staff were friendly french people, facilities were clean-ish. The area is bad, but the hostel is barricaded behind a locked courtyard. Cute if you’re super desperate. Would never stay again, however.

I didn't like staffs changing everyday with a new faces, and some problem in communication with manager. Also bed cleaning was not there and worst thing bed bugs biting... terrible

Smack dab in the middle of Korea town Fit my needs perfectly. Clean with a large emphasis reminders to keep it clean. Bunk beds comfortable, sheets clean. NO BED BUGS. In dorm bathroom good. Toilet seat could of used a little TLC but that was the only thing wrong. Piano player there during stay. Nice bonus. The entrance/courtyard nice. Could you some TLC like the fountain working, smoother entrance, planters having plants. However, they were painting the seating in the court yard so I could be just missing the up keep. Would I stay again? Absolutely.

this place could use some more thought into making this place a better stay. However if you are just looking for the bear minimum and a place to sleep. Security is very lax to the point where anyone can push the front door and walk in. Its also my belief that the bed had bed bugs as every single night i would come out with these very ichy bumps even after i put mosquito spray on. Every night as well they wouldn't host any events and it felt that it was encouraged to meet new people,

Clean and free of any nasty creatures...no roaches, bedbugs, mice, or anything like that you here of of in some hostels for the same price. A great deal and plenty of showers with hot water always, too. For a house that is something like 110 years old, it's in great condition, because there's no mold or anything you find in these younger motels you stay in sometimes. The owner has renovated it nicely and made sure it's run and unkept well, an not just a money machine while he sit backs and lets the cash come in and the roaches crawl. Also a nice kitchen with a gas stove, though I should say in that sentence there is no oven so that doesn't mislead. That's a negative, but it's really not that big a deal because you get use to it and there's a toaster for your toast in the morning. Oh, and there is a piano to play in the common room, which is pretty fun. Which speaking of noise, it's nice that they have rules about that at night, because you don't want to be disturbed by people being really loud at night. Everyone gets loud sometimes, but it's nice they keep it quiet at 2AM in the morning, for example.
