Tailor Made Tekapo Accommodation

+ Walked into the room and looked at the facilities and left immediately.

- No staff onsite could be located. Images did not represent an accurate image of the accommodation at all. Be warned, rooms are in 1 entire old wooden cabin on land the size of a suburban block. Our room had a dodgy lock with the only things in the room 3 single beds and yellowing pillows. Absolutely no sound insulation from other guests. Bathrooms were unhygienic with mould and wet carpet. We are frequent travellers of over 35 countries and this was the first time we ever felt the need to loose the cost of accommodation and rebook elsewhere for the night to keep our children in a safer location.

- It looked like a room in a prison. Misleading advertising with the photos, nothing to do with the room I booked with the room I was offered. The room and accommodation was very old and dirty, we had cobwebs on the walls, the heater looked like it was going to explode at any moment, the bathrooms were dirty and clearly in need of renovation. There was not even a bedside table in the room.

- I recently stayed at your property, and I was quite disappointed with the experience. The rate charged was nearly $200 for just one night, without even including breakfast. For that price, I expected much better accommodations, but what I found was essentially a backpacker’s hostel rather than a guest house. There was no staff available to assist, and I had to pick up the key from the reception myself. The rooms were uncomfortable, with the toilets and bathrooms being separated, which was inconvenient. Both the cleanliness and the condition of the facilities were lacking—the toilets, bathrooms, and even the kitchen were messy and not well-maintained. Overall, I did not feel that the stay was worth the price, especially considering the lack of comfort, cleanliness, and service.

- In prezentarea camerei aveam o casa, am primit un container care arata jalnic iar peste zi se incingea de la soare. WI-FI -ul era foarte slab! Masuta din fotografii nu exita, draperiile erau rupte, capul patului nu era fixat, nu exita nici un loc unde sa-tibagati hainele, nici un suport cu umerase, in baie nu exista nici o etajera unde sa-ti pui lucrurile. Nu se justifica pretul acestei cazari in raport cu ce conditii ne-a oferit!

+ The location - easy access to the centre of town. We had thought it would be a good place for a family to stay because of the animals and the outdoor area.

- We booked three rooms - travelling as a family- yet we were put into separate buildings. The management response was that we should have rung and requested rooms that were all together. I had messaged to ask for a cot and foolishly assumed that because we had made the one booking for three rooms it would be obvious that we were a group travelling together! The shared bathrooms were very basic and there was mould on the shower walls. Our toddler was so excited to play with the trucks outside but they all needed repair. The bbq was so filthy that we had to abandon the bbq meal and go for dinner in a restaurant. The whole place is very tired and in desperate need of new paint and a good scrub.

+ The location was great and the communal space felt like a cosy batch/ shared house with a lovely fire, lots of mismatched furniture and a cute array of board games. This is a really suitable style of accomodation for young back packers or those who are happy to have minimal comforts. The manager was incredible helpful and responsive. I had to call her to report issues with noise from other guests which she dealt with promptly, however despite her efforts, the noise did not subside until mid night.

- I do believe the term 'Guest House' is perhaps not suitable for describing the accomodation, however 'Hostel' is. I booked via Booking.com and the impression was certainly offering more guest house vibes. When I arrived, my room was in a building with shared bathrooms of a quality that I would expect to find in a student flat in Wellington or Dunedin, and the walls in the building were so thin so I could hear everything from the neighbouring rooms. Unfortunately the room next to mine was a 'dorm room' so had a lot of beds. As such, it was very noisy. The guests were not 'partying', however I could hear their entire conversations until midnight. I asked them to keep it down or use the communal living area if they were not ready for sleep as did the manager of the accomodation, however the noise did not subside until after mid night which was certainly tiresome as I had a full day of driving ahead.

- The rooms were extremely small. Could not guess this from photos. The rooms did not have fans. In the afternoon it got really really hit and we had to be outside of the room to remain cool. Too many flies around there which suggest the hygiene issue out there. I requested for 6 people and was allocated rooms that were far away.

+ Smooth self-checkin process with clear instructions left by staff. King bed with private bathroom a lot cheaper than other options in Lake Tekapo. Only a few minutes walk to the village centre.

+ Very close to the centre of town and was for a last minute booking the best overall available option. Shared facilities were fine and actually were always very clean. They also had a selection of sports equipment which you can use which was fun to do with the kids. We had 6 beds in our room and they were all comfy and the room was warm and had a nice view of the chickens.

- No staff to check you in. But really nothing to get too worked up about as they did leave a key out for us on the counter. Parking was a little limited in the actual property but to be fair there was ample on street parking so it wasnt really too much bother.
