I have no idea how this place passes the booking.com property standard. This place is dark, dingy, muggy and extremely humid inside. I was supposed to stay 3 nights in Essaouaira in this hostels but unfortunately due to the gross experience in this place, i checked out and left the city the next day. My bed felt so humid and muggy as soon as I laid down to sleep and then i had the biggest itching of my life all night .. no surprise, this place has BED BUGS! The next morning, i didnt want to create a scene so i quietly told the reception lady but she semmed indifferent to it! This place ruined my trip in the city unfortunately. The hostel is in a very dark extremely smelly alley in a very dark tunnel .. i had the jump scare of my life with men standing in corners in the dark trying to talk to you in arabic. I didnt stay out late just because i was scared to go back to the hostel through the dark stinky tunnel

De thee om 18:00 is hier de sociale motor: een dagelijks tafel-en-rooftop ritueel dat het makkelijk maakt om mensen te ontmoeten, dinerplannen te starten of gewoon te kijken hoe Essaouira de avond in glijdt. Ontbijt leunt ook gemeenschappelijk, met lage gedeelde tafels en veel ochtendgeklets, dus dit is een sterke match voor solo reizigers die willen dat het hostel wat sociale fysica voor ze doet. The Chill Art heeft een kleurrijke riadfeel in de medina, met kunst, gitaren, banken, katten, een muziekhoek en een rooftop die het beste deel van het gebouw kan zijn. De common areas zijn gemaakt om te hangen in plaats van je te verstoppen, en de staffcultuur is een groot deel van de aantrekkingskracht, vooral namen als Aniss, Mehdi en Hamza. De locatie is centraal voor Essaouira, dicht bij de medina-actie, restaurants, cafes, de haven en de zee. Dorms kunnen simpel maar schoon zijn, lockers kunnen beschikbaar zijn, en ontbijt is vaak een echte plus, al niet altijd uitgebreid. Privekamers en rooftop-appartementen zijn wisselvalliger: sommige klinken heerlijk, terwijl andere vochtig, koud, muf of onderhoudsbehoeftig kunnen zijn.

- De toegangsroute loopt door een donker, stinkend steegje of tunneltje, en kan na zonsondergang ongemakkelijk voelen.
- Vocht, schimmelgeur, rioolgeuren en badkamerlucht kunnen een issue zijn, vooral in bepaalde privekamers of rooftop-appartementruimtes.
- Geluid kan door het riadachtige gebouw reizen, waarbij muziek, common-area geluid of rooftopfeesten slapen soms moeilijk maken.
