Casa de Olas - Eco Rustic Hostel

We had $300 stolen from our dorm room. The hostel only had 2 keys for a 6 person dorm so we weren’t allowed to lock the room and had to have the key on the door. We were checking out at 5am so took our money out the lockers and it was stolen. The property weren’t any help with checking cameras etc and said it was all our fault

Main areas we’re nice, but rooms we’re dirty. Especially the bathroom.Its a bit far away from the city centre, but they offer free shuttles.

Nice view from the hostel but quite difficult to access. Moto is recommended for not being dependent on the shuttles. Regarding it to be a bed and breakfast hostel, the classic breakfast contains just a dry Gallo pinto, one (!!) egg and a slice of toast. Bring your own food if you don't want to be hungry. It was the worst nica breakfast I had so far. 4 people dorm has a lot of space but the power plug situation is pretty bad.

Beautiful place, the view is amazing, and the pool is very nice ! it's chill but still a great place to meet people and eat together. The free shuttles are amazing, but you have to plan your day around them because the taxis are expensive! The private rooms are very beautiful but not very private, the roof is open and all the rooms are connected, so be prepared with the tiktok reels at night and bathroom noises 🫢 so it's expensive for a not very private room..

Location is cool if you want to stay oustide of the city. View is amazing. The private room we got was not it, did not even have a real door. To get to and from town you can take the free shuttle or need to take a taxi. Drive takes about 10 min. We left early as the location was too remote for us and we found a better deal in the city with cleaner rooms, better price and everything in walking distance.

Pros: Great views, pool & hammocks; social vibe; kitchen; tasty breakfast (thank you Arelie!). Cons: Uncomfortable beds; no protection from mosquitoes despite effectively sleeping outside (roof panels missing); key situation is a mess (3-4 keys for both 6-bed dorms); good but limited shuttle system to town was once cancelled without warning; confusing policies create unnecessary tension; disappointed nothing organised for NYE; staff openly discuss lack of TLC

Staff were helpful, free breakfasts were nice, and shuttles to beaches were good. However it wasn’t super clean (particularly when trying to use kitchen) and it is quite far out of town

beautiful hostel but we had a very strange experience. We arrived at 1pm as that's what time we had our transport arrive & the guy at reception said we couldn't be in the property until 3pm. There wasn't a shuttle into town until 3, no moto rental around & it's located over an hour walk from town. We didn't care for checking in to our room but we weren't allowed to sit on a hammock until check in. eventually they allowed us to sit in a half built building 'smokers' area until 3pm. very strange.

Super friendly Welcome Manager. Super professional organized. Amazing View and cozy hammocks. Unfortunately 45min by feet to the city center , free shuttles starting late in the morning and last early in the evening. So you need often a taxi which is quite expensive in SJDS. No Lunch or Dinner Options and no restaurant close by.

Perfect hostel for a reset. The shuttle service is reliable, and the staff are incredibly helpful. While there’s no AC, the fans work great. It’s out of town, but the kitchen is top-tier and the pool views are unmatched. Highly recommend!

You'll enjoy this place of you want calm! The pool is very big and clean, the hammocks are confortable, the included breakfast is good, the kitchen is simple but has everything. One of the staff is wayyyy nicer than the other but I still had fun annoying him with my questions! I had a private room and it was spacious. Would have loved some a/c but the fan did the job at night. Quiet surrounding. Only downside is that it's far from the city and there's only 3 (roundtrip) free shuttles a day.

What a wonderful place to stay! I loved it here and would definitely come back, the staff are kind and welcoming, and the hostel is lovely. The pool has a gorgeous view over the town and the ocean and you can watch the sunsets from the hammocks. I appreciated the calm vibe, if you’re looking for a party hostel however, this might not be your best option. It’s a little outside of town up on a hill, but they offer free shuttles multiple times a day and also organize surf lessons!

Habe mich im Hostel sehr wohl gefühlt! Es gibt 3 mal am Tag einen kostenlosen Shuttle nach SJDS und man kann das Dorf auch in 30 Minuten zu Fuß erreichen. Für mich ist die ruhige Lage und der Ausblick auf das Meer ein weiterer Pluspunkt :)

Our favourite accommodations in Nicaragua. Incredibly well organized and family fun business. The owner Daniel was such a pleasure and very friendly and helpful. The private rooms were HUGE and beds very comfortable. Daily free shuttles into town multiple times a day and also paid beach shuttles for surfing. Very well equipped community kitchen and loved the pool table and all the hostel games. Our favourite was snuggling with Mitch the hostel cat in the hammocks! Couldn’t recommend more!

Wundervolles Hostel. Es liegt etwas abgelegen, aber wenn man Ruhe will von der Partystadt San Juan ist es der perfekte Ort. Es gibt Gratis-Shuttle in die Stadt

really good hostel if you want something chill and relaxed, free breakfast included which is good value and shuttles to town and the beaches everyday

Einziger Minuspunkt ist die Lage, aber das Hostel stellt 3 mal am Tag ein Shuttle in den Ort deswegen ist das kein Problem. Sehr schöne Aussicht und sehr saubere und gut ausgestattete Küche

Sehr nices Hostel. Ruhiger Ort und Atmosphäre. Tolle Aussicht. Sehr freundliches Personal. Auch das Shuttleangebot ist super. Gerne wieder.

Loved this Hostel so much! Location is a bit out of town, but fear not because they have shuttles for free 3 times a day to town and arrange shuttles to the nearby beaches. The most beautiful place I have stayed! Staff and volunteers were all very nice, especially Noor! Thank you for a great stay

Really loved our stay here. Private room is so nice and great value for money. Daily shuttles are great and easy to book, as others mention there’s only 3 per day but we just planned our day around this and didn’t mind. Location is beautiful with such a perfect sunset view every night. Very chilled vibe, maybe a bit quiet for solo travellers but we were there right after NYE so a busy period! Overall one of my favourite stays in the last 4 months of travelling.

Great stay! I’d highly recommend going here if you want to get away from the noise of town but still be close enough to enjoy any amenities nearby! Danny and Noor were super helpful front desk staff too

super schönes Hostel

Cleary the best hostel in San Juan del Sur so far. And also, one of the best I've ever been in my traveler life. The staff is super friendly and welcoming (👋 Nour & Marcos), they birng a very good vibe. Th swimming pool is perfect with the view on the beach and the sunset. They provide free shuttle to go and back from town. They also provide cheap shuttles to the beaches. Big rooms with enough plugs and storage for everyone. They also look for volunteers! 😉
