I regret to say that my experience at Casa Maya was highly disappointing. While the staff was courteous, the quality did not match the exorbitant price. The bed felt like a slab of concrete, and the toilet was far from inviting. To add insult to injury, a power shortage left us in the dark, with the generator only powering a single building, leaving us questioning the value of our $65+ expenditure. Overall, Casa Maya left a lot to be desired, and I would caution anyone considering a stay there.
Gute Lage zum playa remanso. Vibe und Konzept aber irgendwie komisch. Sehr viele Regeln und keine Möglichkeit Gepäck vor dem checkin oder nach dem checkout zu lagern, was sehr umständlich ist (Abgabe bei surf Shop am Strand war möglich). der dorm war während meines Aufenthalts in Veränderung aber lieblos gestaltet, es gab auch keine Locker. Mehr volunteers als echte Gäste.
Very many rules and no possibility to store luggage before checkin or after checkout, which is very understandable (Tax at surf shop am Strand was possible). the dorm was in change but lieblos gestaltet during my stay, there were also no Locker. more volunteers as real Guests.
This place is perfect if you’re just wanting to surf as it’s a stones throw away from the beach! However I do think it’s unusual for a hostel to take $100 from your card which you only get back after they do a room check. They also have an extensive list of rules such as not walking up the stairs too hard which they text you as reminders through out your stay. There was also no atmosphere but if you’re just there to surf that doesn’t really matter. Staff were really nice!

It was very warm with the fan.
This experience was exactly what I payed for/expected. James and Faith were VERY accommodating to what I needed for my stay and as well as additional help with transportation information. They were both very friendly and gave us as much information as they could regarding our stay. The proximity to the beach made everything worth it, the bars and restaurants down there were AMAZING. I usually stay at Playa El Coco but I will definitely be coming back to playa Remanso.
The location is absolutely perfect if you are there to surf or enjoy the ocean. It’s a bit remote from SJDS (which felt very nice and tranquil ). There are though, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, a good deal of rules, terms and conditions that goes along with your stay here… Nevertheless, I do take Casa Maya as my lawful hostel to surf and to swim from this day forward.
Casa Maya is a very nice place if you want to chill out of the city but not too far, and be the first in the waves in the morning ! Overall very clean. The kitchen (open from 6.30am to 9pm) is a must have as there are no grocerie shop nor many restaurant options around (a bigger fridge would be perfect). The dorm has pretty efficient fans. Special thanks to Faith who welcome the guest perfectly. She's such a nice person and will take care of your questions and needs.

+ Sehr schönes Boutique Hotel, wunderschönes Zimmer, tolle Sicht auf Pflanzen und Pool. Das gesamte Hotel ist sehr gepflegt und die Farben und die Ausstattung haben eine sehr beruhigende und entspannende Wirkung. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und aufmerksam und dabei überhaupt nicht aufdringlich. Das Frühstück war jeden Morgen ein Highlight. Die Lage ist top! Nur ½ Minute zum Strand :) Bieten auch Wäsche-Service an.

+ A brand new, beautiful hotel. Only a few rooms, centrally located pool. The hotel is located just a short walk from Remanso Beach. Very friendly and helpful staff. If I were to visit the area again, I would definitely stay here.

+ This property in the San Juan del Sur area (nice quiet beach 5 minutes drive from town) is a little oasis, just steps from the beach. It has a pool in the center of it, so you just walk out of your room and get this lovely feeling. Rooms are lovely, spacious, clean, fresh, elegant and soooo quiet! There is a cute palapa with an open bar and kitchen so staff is always available (btw, staff was so friendly, attentive and professional!) Food was delicious! Caprese sandwich, highly recommended! If you are looking for a place where you disconnect, rest, enjoy quiet walks on the beach, eat well and reset, this place is for you. We already booked our stay for next winter!

- No había separación entre la ducha y el resto del baño. Todo el agua de la ducha se pringa al resto del baño.

+ Exceptional — 10/10 Casa Nära is truly a gem in Playa Remanso. The hotel feels brand new, beautifully designed, and just steps away from the beach. Our room was spacious, cozy, and filled with thoughtful details that showcase traditional Nicaraguan craftsmanship. We slept incredibly well thanks to the comfortable beds and the peaceful atmosphere. The location is perfect, close enough to San Juan del Sur to enjoy restaurants and activities, but still quiet and relaxing. Mornings at the beach were magical, and the sunsets were stunning, with bars and restaurants with great atmosphere. The pool and terrace area were ideal for relaxing while the kids played safely. The staff were outstanding. Everyone was warm, helpful, and made us feel right at home. From delicious breakfasts to assistance with transportation and food orders, they truly made our stay special. We left feeling refreshed and grateful. Highly recommended for families, groups, surfers, or anyone looking for comfort, tranquility, and a beautiful place to disconnect.
