   Dishonest staff, unauthorized card charges, and review suppression. I booked 2 nights through Booking.com for €177. Upon arrival, staff claimed the price was €181 — a different amount than what was confirmed in my booking. They then insisted I pay in cash only, refusing card payment. Without my permission, they charged €160 to my card. I did not authorize this transaction. I had to contact Booking.com directly to intervene and resolve the situation before I could even check in. During the process, staff also asked to handle my credit card themselves and insert it into the payment device — which I refused. This behavior is unacceptable and felt like an attempt to fraudulently access my card. This was hands down the worst hostel experience of my life. The staff are dishonest, manipulative, and untrustworthy. They will lie to your face, try to scam you out of extra money, and attempt to handle your bank card without your consent. It is a disgrace to call this place a hostel. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. And to top it all off — after I checked out, they CANCELED my booking in the system, clearly to prevent me from leaving this review. If that doesn't tell you everything you need to know about how this place operates, I don't know what will. They are scammers who don't want the truth to get out. Do yourself a favor and stay anywhere else in Amsterdam — literally anywhere would be better than this dishonest, unprofessional dump. I would never recommend this place to anyone, not even my worst enemy.

   1. A male clerk greeted us wearing nothing but underwear and otherwise being naked 2. A shared bathroom WITHOUT locks 3.    Very disappointing experience. We found bed bugs in multiple rooms (including visible eggs). Even after being moved several times, the problem was not resolved. Sleeping was nearly impossible, and we had to leave early. For the second night, we did not receive the private room we had booked and paid for, but were placed in a shared dormitory instead in another Hostel. After the stay, we contacted the hostel multiple times but received no response. This is a serious hygiene and health issue and should not happen. I cannot recommend staying here. Unfortunately, I was also unable to leave a review on Hostelworld because the booking was marked as cancelled.

   Tuve la peor experiencia de todo mi viaje en este hostal. Me alojé del 2 al 4 de enero y regresé el 8 de enero. Al hacer el check-out el día 4, olvidé devolver la llave de la habitación, por lo que no me fue reembolsado el depósito de 10 euros, lo cual entiendo. Sin embargo, al regresar el día 8, el hombre mayor que atendía en recepción me exigió la llave. Le expliqué que no la tenía en ese momento y que ya había perdido el depósito correspondiente. Ante esto, reaccionó de manera extremadamente agresiva: comenzó a gritarme, tomó mis maletas que estaban en la recepción y las arrojó hacia afuera de la recepción, próximo a la puerta de salida. La situación fue muy intimidante; en un momento sentí que podía llegar a agredirme físicamente. Por seguridad, intenté grabar lo ocurrido, pero solo logré registrar 8 segundos antes de que él me quitara el teléfono de forma brusca. Fue una experiencia muy angustiante, al punto que otros viajeros que estaban presentes salieron a ofrecerme contención frente a lo que estaba ocurriendo. Debido a esta situación, me vi obligada a abandonar el lugar de inmediato. Adicionalmente, tuve otra situación incómoda con el mismo recepcionista el día de mi llegada. Mientras me encontraba en la habitación, él ingresó sin previo aviso y se dirigió directamente a mí, solicitándome la llave para verificar si efectivamente esa era la cama que tenía asignada. Yo estaba en la litera inferior que me correspondía, pero aun así tuve que buscar mi llave y mostrársela. Si bien luego se retiró sin más, me pareció una situación invasiva y poco respetuosa, especialmente en un espacio donde se espera privacidad y tranquilidad. Considero completamente inaceptable este nivel de agresividad y la falta de seguridad en el lugar. No recomendaría este hostal bajo ninguna circunstancia, especialmente para personas que viajan solas.

   beds too small, 3 beds pilled on each others, kitchen is just a microwave, overall dirty and smelly. if you don't believe me, check the comments on Google maps. have bedbugs bites on my legs, everything is in cash, sketchy feeling. 3 rooms/floors, 12 beds/rooms, 1 (too) small shower/toilets by floors (1 for 36 if the hostel is full). arrived one day later, they cancelled my whole reservation, i had to find something else the day i arrived, do not answer phone or mail, want me to pay everything

   Cheap but NOT worth it! I’ve never felt this unsafe as a solo female traveler. It was just me and one other guy in the mixed 15 room. The guy was starting at me, breathing heavily, and I heard a zipper undone. When I asked the front desk about he just said “we have standards here” and there was nothing he could do. I left and got a hotel for the night. So cold and just a terrible hostel experience.

   Nothing I booked this place for two nights. Upon arrival, I was informed that a €10 cash-only key deposit was required. As I had no card available to withdraw cash, I was refused accommodation. I asked whether I could leave an alternative guarantee, such as an ID card or driving license, but this was explicitly refused, with no flexibility shown. Despite never checking in and being denied the stay, the full amount was charged to my card without any prior notice. This money represented my last available funds, and as a result I was unable to find alternative accommodation. I contacted reception immediately but was given misleading information, and the call was abruptly ended. After carefully reviewing my Booking.com reservation, I can confirm that there is no mention anywhere of a mandatory €10 cash key deposit. Being refused accommodation due to an undisclosed condition and still being charged is unacceptable and unprofessional. The lack of transparency and basic human consideration was extremely disappointing.

    BE CAREFUL: I had a confirmed reservation paid by credit card, and received no response to my confirmation emails. When I arrived, the reservation was suddenly “canceled” without any notice. The man at the reception —an older man with a beard— told us the price was now double because it was “close to Halloween.” He also insisted on cash only and wanted an additional deposit for each key card. This behavior felt very suspicious. It is extremely uncommon for a hotel to refuse card payment and attempt to double the agreed price on arrival. I chose not to stay and checked into another hostel nearby, where the published price was respected and credit card payment was accepted without any problem.

    DO NOT STAY HERE. Unfriendly, unhelpful staff who only take cash which is inconvenient in a city which is mostly cashless. Someone was in my bed due to the hostel being unorganised, and when asked for help from the staff was just told to “take a free bed.” Rooms far too hot, beds tiny, atmosphere dark and dingy. Bathrooms small, not clean, and only 2 showers for 20+ people. Extremely uncomfortable stay. Only positive is the location near Vondelpark, but plenty of better hostels nearby.

I refused the cash deposit, he takes me to the room pretends to unlock the door and lets me in. The door to the room didn’t lock at all. It was taped over. So if I had of given €10 it was for nothing. I’ve been scammed with this before when they make up some excuse not to give the cash back to you. I found someone in my bed, and went and asked and they just said to choose another in which I was then woken up later to someone else saying I was in their bed . The toilets are dirty and the place looks unkept. Don’t stay here unless you are desperate.

    Our flight was cancelled and we called them on time and contacted Booking to cancel as well but still this place charged us FOUR times what we paid for one night with the excuse as "No Show" even though we called them and let them know the situation and they said "It was ok and no charges will be made". The pretty much scammed us. I would never go to this place again. We tried calling them multiple times and they refuse to talk to us or to Booking to resolve this.

    Do not recommend. I have stayed in many hostels and this was a low. The door to the dorm did not lock so anyone could walk in which is pretty laughable for the 10 euro deposit on the useless key. They only accept cash for the room payment they take a LOT of personal information at check in, including your passport number and home address. Their “secure lock up” for valuables behind the counter was simply the corner… there was only one small bathroom for the dorm of over 20 people. Good location.

Lorsqu'on m'a redonné l'argent comptant, il manquait 20 euros. J'ai perdu beaucoup d'argent en allant à cet hostel. Le lieu est toujours débarré, les sacs supposément sécurisés sont laissés à l'entrée à la portée de tous. Endroit déplorable et malpropre. MC'est un scam ! Évitez à tout prix

And minutes later another bank sms arrived that showing the property trying to take big amount from my credit card again.....so im literally spoiled my travels and sad and feels that cheated.....finally i contacted the booking.com team then everything they help me to settled.my humble request to everyone pls ask the proper receipt copy for your payment.or else they put you in no show Very bad experience

    Un hostel normal, todo bien, correcto y esperáble en relación precio calidad, en Amsterdam TODO es carísimo, me parecío caro, pero estaba dentro de. se comieron mi comida, pero descaradamente, había cámaras en el lugar pero no grababan nadie se hizo cargo. Hubo un chico drogado desde que llegue hasta que me fui, de hecho me fui un dia antes porque ya no lo soportaba! y nadie se hizo cargo, nose si correspondía que alguien respondiera por el, pero no salía de la habitación, no se bañaba era, un horror.

    I had a terrible experience staying at this hostel, and I would not recommend it to anyone. On the night of August 27th, a man who did not have a reservation entered our room and attempted to stay the night. I had no choice but to open the door because he was already forcing his way in. Feeling unsafe, I immediately reported the situation to the reception staff. To my shock, when they came to check, they confirmed the man wasn't even supposed to be there! The situation escalated further when a fight broke out between the man and the staff, leading to us having to call the police. This entire ordeal left my friends and me feeling terrified and unsafe. We felt there was no choice but to leave the hostel early, as staying after such a dangerous incident was out of the question. Despite this horrifying experience, the hostel refused to refund the two nights we didn’t stay. To make matters worse, Booking.com did nothing to address the situation either. Both the hostel and Booking’s complete lack of accountability and customer care were absolutely appalling. I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone. It’s unacceptable for a place claiming to provide safe accommodations to let something like this happen and then refuse to make things right. Avoid this hostel at all costs if you value your safety and peace of mind. This should express your dissatisfaction clearly and hold both the hostel and Booking accountable for their inaction.

    Staff walked into my bedroom 3 times in the middle of the night. They are not there to help the guests. The place is old and dirty. Poor security. The staff is trying to stack their ratings to look better than they are.

    AVOID HOSTEL ANNEMARIE I booked this budget hostel for a night, but the experience was terrible. They initially refused card payments, sent us to an ATM, and then claimed the card machine was broken—until I threatened to contact the app, when it suddenly worked. We got our room late and were later forced to change rooms at 10:30 pm without explanation. The staff was rude and unprofessional. Save yourself the stress and stay elsewhere.

    It was grimy and other guests were loud throughout the night. We found out that they do random room checks each night when a staff member knocked on our door and, without waiting for an answer, came in to make sure no one else was in the extra bed. Bathroom was fairly gross and you can only pay in cash.

    IF YOU’RE A WOMAN DO NOT STAY HERE 0/10 We had a terrible experience at this hostel we were two young girls staying and were put in a room with just us in a 12 person dorm room. We had felt so uneasy and unsafe that we called the front desk 2 times and they never apologized and made us feel like we were safe. There was people outside our door banging and walking around for about 6 hours. We barricaded the door as well because we felt that unsafe. I never leave reviews but this was so bad.DONT GO

    Locatie was top, dichtbij het centrum. Location was nice, really close to the city center. Buena ubicación, muy cerca del centro de la ciudad. Ze vragen geld in cash (om geen belastingen te betalen vermoed ik), de prijs was anders dan hier op Booking.com Bovendien hebben ze op mijn kaart een extra toeslag gevraagd (heel raar). Een enige en zeer kleine douche en WC voor de hele kamer, dus 21 personen. Douche was altijd vuil. Bedden waren klein en vuil zoals de kamer. Slechte organisatie, ze vroegen ons elke dag onze namen en de fake factuur die we hadden gekregen. Bedden hadden bedwantsen. Ik voelde mij alsof ik in een gevangenis was. A single and very small shower and toilet for the entire room, so 21 people. Shower was always dirty. Beds were small and dirty like the room. Bad organization, they asked us our names every day and the fake invoice we got. Beds had bed bugs. I felt like in prison. Piden dinero en efectivo (para evitar pagar impuestos, supongo), el precio era diferente al de Booking.com. Además me cobraron un extra en mi tarjeta (muy raro). Una ducha y un WC individuales y muy pequeños para toda la habitación, es decir, 21 personas. La ducha siempre estaba sucia. Las camas eran pequeñas y sucias como la habitación. Mala organización, nos preguntaban todos los días nuestros nombres y la factura falsa que nos dieron. Las camas tenían chinches. Me sentía en una cárcel.

    Guests can storage their luggage for free if they leave a good review, this morning around 7 guests did this. (manipulation of reviews is not reccomendable) Also 2 guests saw someone took my umbrella because it was raining outside when I went to the toilet (aprrox. 2 min). Also a black tshirt and 10€ cash was missing just in the room, so watch your stuff. I´ve also paid €9 extra for extension, they said the other cheaper room was fully booked while it was not. Had to postpone meeting with very important client, approx. damage costs around 800+ 6 + 9 + 10 = €825,-

    The price was really cheap, but I ended up having to pay for another hotel, so in the end, it felt like a rip-off. Good location. The service was unacceptable. I don't know if they discriminated against me because of my accent or if the service is always this bad. The guy at the reception told me that my stay wasn't showing up even though I had already paid. I told him I was very tired and needed to drink some water, and asked if I could access the kitchen, but he denied me. I decided to wait in the living room, but my power bank was running out of battery. I asked if he knew of a place to plug it in, and he said no. Then I tried to buy a bottle of water at the reception, but he was very upset and made disapproving faces, as if something I had said had offended him. He told me he couldn't sell me water because his terminal wasn't working. I told him I needed to leave my suitcase and backpack in my room so I could go to the ATM, but he said no, even though he had my confirmation email and reservation number. It was totally arbitrary. After all the bad looks he gave me, and tired of being nice all the time, I complained about the situation. He told me there was nothing he could do, continued to deny me entry, and didn't help me with the electricity connection or the water I tried to buy. In the end, I had to leave the premises, but not before pointing out all his intransigence. I had to go to the hotel across the street where I paid 80 euros for one night, in addition to already having paid for the hostel and having a reservation number. It was the worst booking experience I've ever had. I even tried to record a video of how he was responding to me, but he attempted to take my phone away. I hope this was an isolated incident and doesn't affect other users. It's unfortunate that, despite not having a good English accent, I was treated this way. I hope the hostel management takes action and improves staff training to prevent other guests from having a similar experience.

    Le truc cool c est que c est dans le quartier des musée et donc excentré sans abusé de la vieille ville. Cela montre un autre décor fort sympathique L'auberge demande de régler en cash et sans reçu un prix que normalement on a déjà payé par Booking ce qui fait qu'on paye le double si l'on ne veut pas dormir dehors, en clair c est du scaming (escroquerie).

We homeless at that moment. Not to mention how dirty, unsanitary and crowded the place is. There are no lockers, no towels or anything. Half an hour later we found us a hotel room for a little more money, twice as serious, similar location. If we had stayed here, we would have tricked each other badly. D o n o t g o!

Like come on we can’t be in other country without IDs that’s stupid and irresponsible. There’s nothing about this on the booking listing???

    Unbelievable. I booked in advance because it said I could cancel/amend up to a week before the booking. I emailed 3 times to try to amend my reservation and called twice, but no one responded. When i finally arrived, I showed them the emails and was told by the guy on the desk that I would have to contact the manager to amend my booking. I asked if he could contact them now and was told that the only way he could contact the manager was by email. I left but they took my £120 deposit. Despicable

    This hostel is a scam. The reception staff attempted to charge me more for the booking without my noticing. It was terrible service with a rude man at the front desk who seemed like a conning crook. The area is very isolated from the central parts of Amsterdam. The hostel felt dangerous and the windows were broken in parts. The rooms have unsafely inadequate ventilation. The rooms have a horrible smell. Do not stay here. It’s waste of money.

    DONT STAY HERE! This is not for tourists, it’s a homeless hostel. The staff were okay, but everything else was awful. This was the dirtiest place I have ever stayed. As soon as I walked in it smelt of toilets and body odour. There are no lockers for your belongings. There is no place to store your bags, apart from by the front desk,which was frequently left unattended. Even if you get Free Cancellation they take your money. They only accept cash even if the bill is over 200£ which is suspicious

    “Kitchen” only has a fridge, super dirty microwave and a kettle. 2 bowls. Wet cat foot in the middle of the floor ?? 2 forks. No plates. wifi doesn’t reach upper floors, no room for your stuff in the rooms, like no under the bed cages for your bag or anything. Our door legit didn’t lock. They do have triple bunk beds which are properly secured to the walls which are fun to me ! It’s worth the money during the week (unless you want to cook) but weekend prices are crazy, not worth.

    Es el peor hostel donde me hospedé en mi vida. Sacando la parte de la escalera pequeña, los colchones finos y el olor a humedad, eso fue lo de menos. En mitad de la noche apareció el recepcionista a utilizar mi baño, alegando que el de él estaba sucio. Obviamente me asusté porque entró un hombre sin valija a la habitación a las 5 de la mañana. Le dije lo que pensaba y me contestó que era una habitación compartida, claro, compartida para huéspedes! Volvió a usar el baño al poco tiempo y no contento con eso ,encima se acercó a mi cama, prendió la luz y comenzó a gritarme! Yo no había hecho nada! Nunca me pasó algo así en mi vida y estuve en un montón de hostels. Pedí el número del dueño y no me lo quisieron dar, me dieron muchas ganas de llamar a la policía porque no debe ni tener los papeles en regla. DESASTRE. no vayan si no quieren pasarla mal.

The only good part about this hostel is the location 32 euros for a dirty hostel where 3 times in 2 days another person stole my bed. Had to hunt for new bedlinnen myself and make a bed somewhere. The room had 12 beds and wasnt cleaned once in 3 days. Dirt and leftovers everywhere.

    Scam alert. Credit card details are required for booking but on arrival they insist on cash but don't cancel the claim on your credit card. The man on Reception was aggressive and abusive. How this place is allowed to operate is a mystery.

The vibe was horrible too, everything felt off and I worried about my bag most of the time. The man who works there at night though was very nice

    Tout est salle dans ce hostel à déconseillé absolument et d'ailleurs je ne sais pas qu'es qu'il font sur booking. En plus de ça ils ont débité ma carte de 93 euro et ils ont mentionnée que nous nous sommes pas présenté ce jours là alors que nous sommes parti et ils ont exigé un payement espèce sur place. Faites attention ⚠️ c'est une vrai arnaque. Anglais Everything is in this hostel and absolutely not recommended and besides I don't know what they do on booking. On top of that they charged my card 93 euros and they mentioned that we didn't show up that day when we left and they demanded cash payment on site. Be careful ⚠️ it's a real scam
