Always a gamble with the pillows here. I got a pretty flat one. Didn't wanna bring my own in case of bedbugs. My roommate was having a loud conversation pretty late, so I don't know if there are any rules about that, but if there are I would've liked them to be enforced. Beds are always rock solid. Showers are clean, but I wish they offered cheap flip-flops/sandals for sale at the front desk for those of us who would prefer to use those in communal showers.

Wanted to love my first hostel experience. Loved the staff..ecclectic and outgoing. Great free breakfast offering..cooked my own eggs each morning. Hallway and stair areas smelled like dirty clothes. My room did not have that odor, gratefully Room next to mine had to be fumigated for bed bugs...ugh. the hallway area smelled for several hours after that was done! Last of three nights at 150 a.m. I was woken by someone in the room touching me. I was startled, and she rushed out of the room. She appeared to have been rummaging through my friends belongings. She came back into the room five minutes later and I turned on my phone light to see what was going on and she walked out again after dropping my friend's towel on the ground. I woke my friend who determined nothing was missing, but there was now a camera case amongst my freind's things that didn't belong. I went down to front desk who reviewed the security tape and was assured this woman belonged in the room. Awoken a third time by her entry and she was standing right by my bed when i turned th light on so I asked can I help you and she said I am just going to go to bed now, which she did. I realized I had had a 20 minute conversation with her in the common area two days ago. Took me forever to go back to sleep due to all this disruptive activity. I understand this is a hostel and it is a shared room space. This was just too bizarre. She never attempted to apologize, even saw her in the morning. Kind of put a damper on the end of my trip! Loved Joe the guide for the free walking trip..went twice!

The worst hostel I've been in, even compared to countries like Peru, Brazil, Chile or other places that Americans call unsafe and dirty. The rooms are overcrowded and they smell horrendous, because they have no ventilation. They are extremely HOT. Fans don't work properly. The sheets/blankets are old and dirty and BED BUGS??? Seriously??? The location is fairly good, but the neighborhood is full of druggies. Anyway, I would rather stay in a tent.

Way legit! I was a bit skeptical about staying in a Hostel, this being my 1st Hostel. I flew into Seattle for the Texans vs Hawks game on Sunday with friends, and stayed in Alki beach (west Seattle) in an AirBNB. Everyone left Monday morning, and i was adamant before coming to Seattle on staying an extra day, and staying in a hostel! It was so very worth it. I arrived 5 hours before check-in, (checking my ID). They allowed me to BOTH my luggage at no fee, while i went walking around and did some shopping (Locked up with a gate). I was able to come back and chill around until i was able to be 'checked in'. Service: They staff/employees were all very friendly and funny. They have a good system down, and plenty of what it seems to be employees. They were very chill, and liked joining you in the lounge room @ every 'break' they could get. **Rooms were clean, sheets were clean and folded perfectly. Personal bottom bunk (and all bunks) had a working fan and light switch. Also extra plug-ins for personal use. Bathrooms were all clean (yes i checked all, hehe). No bed bugs (where i was at). I had a great view on the corner of Pike Street, looking at Hard Rock Cafe and the actual Market Place sign. It was very cool. I left at 4am for the Airport, and along with this great review i'm leaving, i left me stash with the front desk. They rock! Total worth the cheaper the hotel stay! The adventure was awesome. I will be back some day! Thanks again Green Tortoise Hostel! Much Love, "Not Haley' but Kaci :)

- would have given 5 stars were it not for BED BUGS :( I seem to be the second person indicating this in a review - I also mailed the property, hope it gets handled (did not get a reply so far - a week passed) - good breakfast (oats, cereal, toast, peanut butter and jam, fruit, eggs, ...) - friendly staff - excellent location !!!! - safe area and lots of bars/eateries/breakfast places nearby - quiet at night - wifi didn't work (though my room was only a few meters from reception) but there is another free network available

Me and my mom went for a gurls trip and selected this spot. PROS: Amazing location, super inexpensive, meeting people from around the world, and complimentary breakfast. CONS: Bed bugs, I ended up getting 8 bites all together. Bad customer service, unfortunately wasn't the friendliest. The guy looked liked he just smoked a bowl. Couldn't take him seriously when he said "no smoking/drinking" when it smelled like pot right when I stepped in.

Highly disappointed in my stay. Was there on a college school trip and it was a great location for that reason, but we had multiple cases of rooms getting broken into by staff members and random people. Staff members were caught going through people's personal belongings and barging into rooms at midnight. They also don't ID when making keys for rooms. Some rando dude broke into one by telling the front desk that it was "his room". Also, there were a couple cases of bed bugs, three to be exact (including my room). The staff was pretty rude throughout the whole ordeal and pretty much treated us like we were a waste of time. When we went to go grab the rest of our stuff out of the room later that day we found out that they had already booked a bed for someone after just fumigating that afternoon, which they should be treating the room more than once to make the bugs and there eggs are completely killed off. So I would definitely check your bed before staying in it. Odds of me ever staying there again are zero.

Not only did I leave with bed bugs, I left with a new understanding of how incompetent and unhelpful a staff can be. When confronting a manager with all of this, I was told that that is just how hostel living is (to make things clear, I've stayed in many hostels and know for a fact that this statement is inaccurate). So if waking up to bites all along your legs and dealing with an immature staff is what you want in a stay, then The Green Tortoise in Seattle is the place for you!

Between the bed bugs that run rampantly and rude staff who seemed to be high 24/7, my experience was very disappointing. I know weed is legal in Washington but as place of business, one would hope staff members and managers would be in a sober and clear mindset in order to properly do their job. It's typically frowned upon at hospitality businesses to let staff work while they are intoxicated. Staff members barge into rooms without knocking and generally do not care about you or your safety. Great location but unfortunately the management has gone downhill.

Would have been great if I didn't leave with bed bugs. Still counting, but I'm up to 40 bites

One of the worst hostels I've been to in the U.S. First off there was a roach infestation in the kitchen almost every time I was in there I saw one and their fridge is full of mold. This is the same kitchen they cook the hostel meals in.... gross! I over heard a couple guests talking about how they got bed bug bites there. The showers always had hair in the drains and the floors felt slimy.... bring shower sandals! Also everyone who worked at the front desk was rude and judgmental. Anytime I walked past the front desk they were up there gossiping about guests. Ive never seen a hostel operated like this... its strange that they have been in business so long. This place almost ruined my Seattle experience good thing there was another hostel in the city to go to!

I went in late June with my friend, and we had a pretty good experience. The staff were nice, the rooms and bathrooms were clean. The rooms and bunks are kinda small but very cozy; it was nice that each bunk had its own curtain and tiny lamp, and I liked the luggage storage under the bunks. The DIY breakfast was great, and the location is right across from Pike Place Market, which was very convenient. I'll definitely stay here again the next time I come to Seattle. I didn't know about some people being affected by bed bugs until long after my stay, (I checked the Google reviews recently) but those reviews were from a couple years ago, and it hasn't affected my choice whether to stay again or not, and it shouldn't scare others too much because that kind of thing can happen almost anywhere!

Análise do ambiente
