Moorland Hotel

+ Absolutely nothing it was dreadful

- The rooms was dirty they smelled really noisy. The shower didn’t have any hot water. One of the curtains was broken.

+ Stunning location.

- Dirty run down. Looks like no one has spent any money in years. The building is dirty needs a good clean. No staff. Waited 20 mins to be checked in. Rang bell 5 times. Eventually a kitchen Porter checked me in, same when I left. Communal areas filthy, carpet needs a good clean. Broken light in bathroom. Loo didn't flush. The whole place smells of damp and mould. The reception area has huge water stain on ceiling.

- Hotel ist uralt Zimmer war hellhörig. Frühstück war in Ordnung.

- Bed was uncomfortable, sliding door to balcony would not close easily, dirty and no lock. Bathroom sealant mouldy. shower riser broken. took ages for hot water to reach the 2nd floor. I have been coming to the hotel for over 12 years but the quality has decreased and price does not reflect this £80 with no breakfast.

- Where to start... staff were rude and un prepared. Hotel is falling apart there was a leak in main entrance hall out dated.. the room was beyond basic wallpaper hanging over the wall bathroom covered in mold and toilet was filthy. Bed was something from the 1800 and just a unpleasant stay. We asked about the restaurant and failed to be given any information

+ The guy on reception was excellent friendly. and helpful steak was good. The only thing chips said was homemade they were frozen.

- The guy in the morning looked like a chef and asked if i had ordered breakfast. I arrived after 9 pm. and wasn't aware I had to order before 9 p.m., so he didn't offer to give me any breakfast, so I just left. I wasn't in the mood to argue.

- Our twin bedroom ( No 3 ). This room was very cold, (very little heating), should have been redecorated years ago, and should not be let out in the state it is in, plastic louvre blinds in very poor state, had too use suitcases to keep them closed, stopper in hand basin did not operate, so water just kept running out, ( no good for a shave), very poor. Came down for our evening meal, the dinning room was cold, and the same at breakfast. We booked in, and paid for three nights, we arrived at 15.30. 5/12/25. and departed 10.30 am on 6/12/25. Did not bother about discussing a refund for the two nights we would not be there, we just wanted to go. This is the first time, in many years, that we have been let down by Booking.com.

- Room decoration and facilities were tired. Carpet had stains, wall paper peeling and damp marks, bathroom fittings rusty and mouldy around bath, bed frame falling apart.

+ Friendly helpful staff, nice location, good breakfast,. Although somewhat dated in places, everywhere was clean.

+ A beautiful location, close to the moors and to Plymouth. Very friendly, welcoming staff, a comfortable room and a super tasty breakfast. What more could you want?

+ The staff were very friendly and helpful. Everything was nice and clean, and plenty full teas, coffees and biscuits, shampoo, body wash etc. Nice clean towels and bed linen and mattress. Loved the view of the countryside out of the arched window in the balcony. Was very peaceful!

- The decor was very tired - but this didn't affect our stay, and was a nice cheap and cheerful night away. The doors to the balcony were very difficult to open and close - not sure if this is just the way they are - perhaps should have told staff to be honest.

- Stayed for 3 nights. Room not cleaned ( including cups) or towels and refreshments replaced

+ The views are phenomenal. The building is very old but we like character in a hotel. The staff are so friendly. Food amazing.

- The rain! But that isn't the hotels fault. It has rained for 45 continual days this Winter

+ Very comfortable and beautiful location

- Because of Christmas parties I returned to the hotel to find the car park full with no alternative parking nearby so had to wait for the party goers to go home very late in the evening before I could return to my room.

+ Good location on the edge of the Moor, with views all the way to the sea on a clear day.

+ We love the location and friendly staff. Good food and clean room

- He property need and upgrade. Simple things could make a big difference. Fixing broken shutters in the bedroom and replacing missing curtain could make a big difference at little cost

- It was very tired & in need of updating Outside needed a good tidy up Booked a double room & when arriving in the room it was 2 single beds put together Mattresses very uncomfortable & need changing Stains on the carpet Wallpaper peeling off Dust everywhere especially behind the bed Mould in the shower Shower door broken No toilet roll holder The list goes on

+ Had a lovely stay, room was spotless and had a great steak in the restaurant. Owner was extremely helpful and friendly.
