+ In the dorm room - personal fans above each bed, side tables and big ensuite dedicated bathrooms. Above average breakfast. Bearded man who checked me in and the female breakfast chef were both really sweet.
- There's literally never anyone at reception. I had to keep checking and waiting there for long periods each time I needed something. The shower in the female bathroom could be either only really hot or else cold. Not adjustable. They didn't give me a towel even though everyone else got one. I thought the others had rented/owned them and only in my last hour of being there did I realise that they'd all received them complimentary. The sheets to cover oneself feel like thin towels and are way too small and uncomfortable. Mine even had coffee/tea like stains on it and looked dirty. The cleaning agent used to clean rooms has an overpowering and nauseating smell of cinnamon (not the cinnabon/bakery sort) . But, most importantly, one of the male staff members made me feel so uncomfortable that I ended up checking out earlier than I was supposed to. Also, they got annoyed with me for asking questions in English, kept suggesting that I have to learn Spanish (multiple staff members) and one man literally told me that he doesn't feel like talking in English and just walked off while I was mid conversation/enquiring about something. He could speak English just fine so that was completely obnoxious. I wonder if they realize that latin people travelling also generally don't speak Thai in Thailand , Dutch in the Netherlands and Polish in Poland. And nobody expects them to! Even when people in English speaking countries discriminate against non-native English speakers it is usually condemned and categorized under xenophobia. Due to this I couldn't ask questions to clear up a lot of serious concerns that I had with my onward travel. I left this place and went to another hostel where the host was incredibly sweet and helpful, and went out of his way to find answers to some questions and concerns I had.
Nice place but too much money for what you get...zero atmosphere, no one in the bar restaurant or pool...the first day they just brought me a breakfast with nothing I would never eat for breakfast. the 2nd morning was pancakes; COLD but ok...I had to ask for butter (hard as a rock) and jam...beds were fine but no privacy curtains...2 nights, 4 beers, 1 water, 1 dinner and 6% additional to use a card Total: $68...yup TOO much!? Tough to recommend this...🫣🥴👎
The management during my five day stay were only visible and speaking for check in and payment. No information about visitor activities, although the managere told me to ask someone who gave me the wrong information. My solo room was popular with mosquitos - no view or ventilation, minimal window. Casa de Verde is 'coasting' complacently from prior reviews. People within earshot have xenophobic verbal diarrhoea which is farcical. The pool is minature. A plus are the friendly breakfast team.
+ The best part of the stay was the breakfast and the ladies who were every morning with a smile to receive the people. The Mexican person was very friendly with customers tho but sure this was El Salvador not Mexicou.
- There is restrictions about visitors. There is restrictions about you buying your own drinks in a shop outside their premises.
I will admit the facilities are really good, and it is very clean. But I am hesistant to recommend this hostel. There are so many rules that make the vibe not feel like a hostel. I was incredibly sick and as there are no visitors allowed, my partner was at another hostel and not allowed in to bring me medicine to my bed. I was so weak I wanted to leave the hostel but I ended up having to extend because i wasn't strong enough to carry my bacback out and my boyfriend wasnt even allowed in to help.
+ Nice location, friendly people and a little roof top terrace.
- We had a (twin)room without a window! Only window in the bathroom and entrance corridor, but those doors were closed during night because of light / noise. No no window in the actual room, therefore the price was too high for that room.
Sehr schöner Innenhof and Dachterrasse zum Verweilen +praktischer Kühlschrank with individual Ablagefächern per Zimmer +leckeres Frühstück +nettes Personal -it would be great if more Tours were actively offered (like the Vulkan-Tour) -we had however very many Mosquitos im Zimmer and since our Zimmer zur Strasse rausging, it was very loud.
great staff and stay. free breakfast that changes everyday so some days it wasn’t that good.

+ Grandioses Hostel mit köstlichem Frühstück, Schwimmbad und Dachterrasse. Liebe Leute!
Nice quiet stay in Santa Ana. Hostel wasn’t super busy so mostly all the people staying there chatted amongst each other. Pool was nice and included breakfast very handy. The dorm is very open (no privacy curtain) but with there being only a few of us this wasn’t a problem. Each bed has a fan above and air con is turned on in the evening
+ This is the best service we have experienced in 4 months travel, they are so helpful. You get your own labelled fridge space for each room, a drinks fridge to help yourself to, run on an honesty system. They have good value tours with pick up from the hostal. Great breakfast as well!
amazing hostel! very clean, warm water and friendly/helpful staff!
+ A fantastic hostel with great location and services. The owner Carlos is an amazing hardworking host! This is an example of a hostel that actually cares about its guests. And you can save tons of money booking tours directly through Casa Verde instead of paying for expensive tours online. Private transportation to Santa Ana volcano and back costs only 20 dollars, and they offer many other things too. Still water is free at the property. Staff is extremely friendly. A great view of the city from a terrace that serves food and drinks.
- Beds do not have any sheets/blankets to cover at night and there are no towels provided, but a lot of hostels in the country are like that.
+ Great accommodation in Santa Ana, staff are so great ! Carlos is very kind and helpful. Different breakfast every morning is very nice, good kitchen, fridges and a pool ! Clean sheets that smelled so nice.
- Rien

+ Carlos and the team are INCREDIBLE, so helpful and kind and always happy to help with whatever I needed, whether it was tours or drivers between the country. They made it so easy and seamless, all with a smile and treat you like family. I could not recommend this place more. The dorms were clean, well maintained and had hot water. The bar/ restaurant areas are amazing with great food and a terrace area and they have amazing tours available! 10000000000/10! Thanks so much!
- Nothing. Everything was amazing.
+ The staff are so helpful and friendly. It also has a great kitchen to cook so you don’t have to eat out everyday. Each room has their own fridge & storage.
- Not in the most central location but is a 10 min walk to the city square. Room could use some hooks/hangers.
+ Plus, plus, plus: Most everything in this hostel is excellent. A few aspect worth pointing out: The house including the pool, attentive staff, the breakfast varies from day to day, no mosquitos despite pool and courtyard, a mini bar next to the reception and an attached restaurant / wine bar.
- Minus: The bed was of mediocre quality. Plus/Minus: Maybe the host (I think his name was Carlos) pays a bit too much attention to the guests – always, everywhere – but others might say that‘s perfect and it can‘t ever be too much.
+ A fantastic hostel with breakfast included.
- The soundproofing could be better, as you can hear guests talking and loud music from outside. Keep the aircon on and hope the other guests have a little consideration in the morning.
Decent location and super useful that they put on transport to the volcano + lake. Breakfast is included and is really good.
