The location was really good and everything was super walkable. There was just a weird smell everywhere. The bathrooms didn’t seem very clean. The rooms were filthy (I’m paranoid I got bed bugs). Not a social hostel

Europa Melbourne is a central backpacker stay with private bunks, curtains on many beds, a rooftop, and a steady flow of activity in the building. The location is the main draw: it is close to the CBD, transport, food, and attractions, and late reception helps when arrival runs long. The tradeoff is rough. Cleanliness is uneven across rooms, bathrooms, and the kitchen, with mould, smells, wet floors, and crowded shared spaces recurring. Noise is part of the setup too: thin walls, door slams, alley sound, and late-night chatter can make sleep hard. Some rooms are small, a few sit below ground or lack windows, and the utensil, towel, and keycard deposit system can feel fussy. It can work as a cheap base if location matters more than comfort.
