This place doesn't even deserve a 1 star. The rooms are nowhere close to what have been shown in the pictures, they're dingy, smelly, so dimly lit that we had to literally guess where we were keeping things. The bedsheets were dusty and smelled rotten, it seems they aren't ever changed post stays. On top of that they have an active bedbug problem. Lastly, the host. He doesn't bother to knock when entering the dorm. He will try to coax you into making an immediate affirmative decision about choosing his private shikara service, even if it's 12 am and you have just reached after a 7 hour long journey and have explicitly mentioned more than once that you do not want to even think about backwaters or boating until next morning. Overall, a very, very, very bad experience.

Worst and most horrible homestay experience of my life! This was our first time choosing a homestay, and we highly regret our decision. The owner is a doctor by profession, but his only motive is to loot tourists while sitting at home. If you want to earn money, at least provide basic facilities! Terrible Room Conditions: The entire room was filthy and infested with bed bugs. We couldn't sleep for a single minute the whole night. To make things worse, the charging points were not working, and even the fan was off/broken. Huge Scam Alert: We wanted to book a houseboat in Alleppey. The owner called his friend and quoted us an outrageous ₹12,000 for just a 2-hour ride without any food, for 4 people. Later, I managed to get the boatman's direct number and called him. I was shocked when the boatman said the actual price was only ₹1,200 for 4 people! The owner was trying to scam us of more than ₹10,000 in commission. Completely unprofessional, greedy owner, and pathetic service. Please do not book this place and save your hard-earned money!

Highly disappointed with this homestay! The room was too small, and the bedsheet provided was rough. When we asked for a replacement, the new one had a blood stain (photo attached). The blankets were poor quality, rooms were dusty, and the bathroom had slow drainage. The room lacked basic amenities like a wardrobe, and the table provided was rusted 😬. But what really ruined our stay was the infestation of bed bugs - we couldn't sleep at all! 😔 I know it's a homestay, not a star hotel, but it should give a homely feel. When guests visit our home, we make them feel comfortable with clean bedsheets and blankets for a good sleep. Thomas Homestay failed at that. Forget about amenities, but a good night's sleep is a basic expectation, right? We've stayed in luxury and budget rooms, but never experienced anything like this. Worst homestay ever! The pictures and name 'Bamboo House' are misleading - it's just a bamboo wallpaper. The owner, Thomas, speaks nicely but scams people. He pushed for a Shikara ride, booked it without our consent, and refused to cancel. Said it's a 2-hour minimum, but locals told us 1 hour is fine. Don't fall for his scam! 🙅♂️ Only plus: it's walkable to Alleppey beach. But don't book this homestay. Stay elsewhere and take an auto to the beach (₹50-60). Trust the negative comments, they're true. The owner's response to criticism is 'I feel something's wrong with you'. No personal grudge, Thomas - just stating facts. Improve the place if you can. Bed bugs = horrible experience. Told him, he said he'll pesticide after checkout 😒. Ruined our stay and money. Avoid this homestay
