Yea I stayed in October and first few nights I was getting bit which resulted in minor lymphitis owner was telling me it must be a spider but then I was up late one night and found two bedbugs crawling on my pillow and sheets. Beware! The place has bed bugs, and the owner is manipulative — acting friendly and pretending to be surprised about the infestation. Don’t be deceived by his attitude. I ended up with bed bugs in my mattress during my stay. Avoid booking here unless you want your trip ruined by bed bugs. I had over twenty bites on my skin and the owner tried to gaslight me Please read other comment on booking.com this isn't the first occurrence!

It was the worst hostel experience of my life, and, trust me, I've stayed in a lot of hostels in the past few years. I was there for one night and that was enough for me having to go to the hospital, due the amount of bites from BEDBUGS I got. It was so bad! DO NOT STAY HERE! THE HOSTEL HAS BED BUGS - it had them weeks before I arrived & still had them when I was there (the owner doesn't care!). The owner and staff didn't even care when I told them I got bed bugs. WORST HOSTEL EVER! The kitchen is disgusting and tiny, the bathrooms are falling apart & completely mouldy. One of the bathrooms didn't even have a proper wall or toilet. Not sociable, no common area. I don't know why anyone stays here and I left after 1 night here. Nobody was at reception...

I stayed at the hostel for two nights in June. There were bedbugs in my bed. When I arrived back in Spain, I had to go to the dermatologist because my entire thigh and arms were covered in bites. The girl in the bed in front of mine had the same issue. I sent photos of what had happened to me at the hostel; they apologized and promised to refund my stay as long as I didn’t leave a bad review. I sent them my PayPal, but I never received the money. I wrote a couple of emails and no answer

There were bed bugs at this hostel, there was mold in the bathroom/on the shower curtain, and the shower head was broken. The volunteers were friendly but the hostel doesn’t have much of an atmosphere in my opinion. The location is close to the old town

Great location and central to most. Gyoko and team are absolutely fantastic. Very knowledgeable and made the stay worth while. I never had an experience like that with hospitality.

A lovely spot with great people and a good spot to decompress from travelling lots

We had an amazing time at sunset lake hostel. The location was really good and the host was so welcoming and nice.

Amazing Hostel Gyoko and the team were the best hostest I have ever found in a Hostel, the location is centrical you can walk anywhere, there was a problem with my room the first night but it was transparently spoken and solved immediately if I needed to "complain for something" the bed in the private room makes quite some noise when you move but everything else perfect I still give it a 10/10!!

The Best location in old city. The owner is an awesome who treated us with coffee, kind advises, welcoming and solving every issue that you have immediately. The kitchen is really nice, bath is cosy. One of the best hostels I’ve been to. Booked 2 nights and ended up staying 2 weeks. Great facilities, perfect location, relaxed and comfortable vibe, plus awesome owner and staff!

Cannot Speak higher of this hostel, owner is the most friendly and helpful man i’ve ever met, let me use the facilities all day waiting for a bus. Beds are comfortable and bathrooms are always clean. free coffee and great lobby honestly this was a great stays

Gyoko is an incredible host - super laid back and friendly and full of suggestions of what to do during your stay in Ohrid. Guests were also friendly and the kitchen facilities looked okay although we didn’t use. Location wise the hostel is perfect - opposite a supermarket and just a ten minute walk into the centre of old town. The rooms were a little tired, and the bathrooms quite run down, but our stay was cheap and the owner was happy for us to leave our bags once we’d checked out which...

I loved my stay in the hostel as the owner is so attentive to everybody in there. He really goes out of his way to tell you local recommendations around Ohrid and has bikes you can use to cycle round the lake. The location is great and is inbetween the little harbour and the old town so everything is in walking distance. There is also a supermarket opposite which is handy as well as a local restaurant that is cheaper than the ones on the waterfront. Loved it!

Loved the property! Very nice owner who was incredibly helpful with recommendations of things to do. It was also my birthday when I stayed and he was incredibly kind giving me a free pastry.

The location is great - close to lots of eateries and 10 minute walk from the water. The rooms are clean. However, where this place really shines is the staff. The guy who runs it is one of the friendliest, most generous people I've ever met. He helped us out with advice and even drove us to our next accommodation and invited us back to the hostel for coffee the next morning. He's helpful just for the love of the game.
