I had a terrible experience here in regards to safety… I got in super late to the hostel after traveling from the states and after only being asleep for an hour and a half, I woke up with a man I didn’t know in my bed. I started screaming and hitting him and he ran out, no one in the room did anything. BUT…. The staff was so so sweet. They made me breakfast for free and the owner was very apologetic and filed a police report. Either way, this is completely unacceptable and need more securi...
Not ideal as a solo traveler, nothing going on and no atmosphere
The beds were the most uncomfortable beds I’ve stayed in so far! Not very sociable, it was okay. Staff were very nice
People need to know what a hostel means and take it seriously but most respect to others, this is the second time I’ve been in this kind of situation. 2 boys and a girl about 20s used to talk loudly each other inside de dorms.even when they knew we’re sleeping. I talk to front desk but I don’t think they told them something. Meanwhile another girl talks by phone every night to I assumed to her country. Hellooooo? Staff are you there? Do something about it.

I got a single room with shared bathroom. The noisy air conditioning and windows don't cohere well, but noise from Khaosan Road comes in. The location is good and the staff friendly. For a couple of days it's good. The cleaning is good, but the years don't go by in vain and it gets old
Staff were really nice and the location was pretty good. The hostel was pretty dirty! The bathroom was one of the worst I’ve had in a hostel with there being damp and mould everywhere which was causing a smell everyone in my room could not stand. It’s not a terrible hostel and the staff are helpful but not clean or really like the pictures
Kann man für 1-2 Nächte machen. Hostel ist in bester Lage auf der Khao San Road, aber in einer kleinen Nebenstraße sodass es nachts schön ruhig ist. Bett war sehr hart und nicht so bequem aber nach einem langen Flug ist es ok.. Unterkunft war generell sehr sauber, nachts ist aber in der chillout area vom Café eine Ratte rumgelaufen was sehr ekelig war. Man hat leider nur einen kleinen Locker. Insgesamt war es ok, kann man für 1 Nacht machen.
Hostel is in a very good location on Khao San Road, but in a small side street so it is nice quiet at night. bed was very hard and not so comfortable but after a long flight it is ok.. accommodation was generally very clean, but at night it is in the chillout area vom Café eine Ratte rummeln was very ugly war. one has unfortunately only one small locker. overall it was ok, you can make for 1 night.
While I liked the design and style of Tales Khaosan I did wish it was cleaner and that the private room had more space (hard to change though). Paul and the staff were great though and super helpful in providing us tips on Bangkok
I always find it weird, when a private room costs the same as a hotel room - or even more, when you are sharing bathroom etc. as you wouldn't in a hotel room. A lot of noice and a VERY moist room due to a default aircondition - the staff didn't bothered to do anything about it.
I think I had better expectations about this place. Location is good, it's a quiet place and central, close to travel bus company I needed. The staff is so kind and helpful, but the place has issues that everyone can see. Restrooms are very poor and in bad matter,can't have hot water. Rooms were well designed but now are old and careless, my bed linen was dirty. I got some people watch movies and more all the night. And no breakfast available before 10,30am?! Well I think it can be better.

Great hostel! Checked us in super early (around 9 am) which was a blessing after the night bus. Loved the coffee here, too! The facilities are really clean. Found the bed a little hard but still fine. Got a nice area with cool air to chill!
We had such a lovely stay at this hostel. We had the double room which was so clean and still had space for storage etc whilst being quite small. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and we felt very safe during our entire stay as two female travellers. Not a particularly social hostel but we didn’t mind that as we wanted calm when first arriving in Bangkok. Definitely recommend staying here!

What a wonderful surprise this gem of a hostel is! Our son made our reservations so not sure what to expect. It was marvelous and would stay again
Close to Khao San Rd. But quiet at night. Dorms a little congested but to be expected. Nice cafe downstairs serving good coffee, although rarely anyone in it. Staff are charming, competent and speak good English.

Tales is such a cute hostel, really nice location but quiet in the evenings. we only stayed one night so we don’t really know how social it is. staff is amazing!!! and the breakfast is really good as well. the only thing is, that the mattresses are a bit hard.
It's a nice place nextdoor to Khaosan, yet it's reasonably quiet. The facilities are basic. Nothing to complain about the set up. There is no kitchen as such but the staff are happy to help you out if you want to reheat your take aways or chop fruits up. The main down side is it's small and not much social atmosphere. I wouldn't recommend it to first time solo travellers.

It was a great hostel, except for the fact that the staff were not very helpful with recommending places to visit. One of them simply replied 'party' to all our questions about what to do in Bangkok and it seems they are not too familiar with local sites themselves. Else, hostel is fantastic, clean, well-kept, very nice and modern design with a nice living room below too. Bit hard to find so keep your eyes peeled for the Israeli restaurant on the same alley (hostel is beside it).
Ploy is my favorite person, and Jhonny keeps the energy alive, and Kira always finds a way to make me laugh. Ploy took me all over the city! She's such a good person.

This is a great hostel one street over from Khao San Road. Access to the hostel is secure with an access card. Beds are comfortable with curtains providing privacy. I strongly recommend this hostel for anyone wishing to stay around Khao San Road.
