   This hostel isn’t for everyone — it might be okay for a single night if you’ve just landed in Adelaide, but for anything longer, it’s not ideal. The people staying here were friendly and the staff were great — really welcoming and helpful. However, the hostel itself needs serious improvement. When I checked in, I asked about lockers and was told the rooms don’t even have locks. That means anyone could technically walk in off the street and access your room. Because of this, I ended up carrying my laptop and passport with me whenever I went out, and left only my clothes behind on the bed. When I returned after being out for about eight hours, I was relieved to find nothing had been touched — but the door to my room was wide open and there was a strong smell of weed inside. On closer inspection, the door was actually off its hinges! The air conditioning didn’t work at all, and with temperatures around 30°C, it was incredibly uncomfortable at night. The mattress was thin and uncomfortable, and the top bunk had no safety rail, which felt unsafe. The floorboards were so creaky that every step in the hallway woke me up. The bathrooms were clean but basic. The showers were hot and powerful, but one of the bathroom lights didn’t work, meaning you had to use your phone torch at night. The WiFi was strong and the location was convenient — about a 20–25 minute walk to the railway station, and buses stop right outside. However, the hidden entrance and sketchy vibe from some people walking by at night didn’t give the best first impression. I had originally booked three nights but ended up checking out after one, moving to another hostel. On a positive note, there was a BBQ on the balcony which was a great touch — everyone was social, friendly, and respectful. The kitchen, lounge, and common areas were good and encouraged socialising. Overall, it’s a friendly and sociable hostel with lovely staff, but the room conditions, lack of security, and poor maintenance really let it down. With a few repairs and better safety measures, it could be a great spot for backpackers.

   Honestly one of the worst hostels I’ve stayed at. Super old, kinda sketchy vibe, and the room was freezing. I told the guy and he said “it gets warmer when more people sleep in there” (it didn’t). Had to sleep in a hoodie and steal a blanket from another bed and still kept waking up from the cold. Hard pass.

   Nothing. We had to leave. The place is a pigsty. See pictures. Smashed food and used tissues on the floor. Room smelled like cum and weed. The property ignored all the calls and refused to reimburse us. AVOID AT ALL COST! SEE PICTURES Worst place any of us had have ever seen after backpacking for 8+ years. Absolute pigsty, smashed food, used tissues and disgusting stuff on the room floor. All of that made by our single roommate. The room smelled of SEMEN and weed. We asked the desk to be moved to a different room. They said it was not possible and that other rooms were in the same condition. THEY DID ACKNOWLEDGE THE PLACE WAS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. They claimed "that's the standard here" but none of the other hostels we went to were anywhere close to that. We COULD NOT STAY at that place and immediately left to book other hostels last minute instead, which was super expensive in peak season. The desk said we had to ask booking.com to get a refund. We did call booking.com who said they needed the property to approve. It has been more than one more month and the property has been dodging our calls and messages for all that time (see picture for proof). NO REFUND! $450 AUD stolen from us. I have stayed in places with cockroaches crawling on the ground and would much rather go back to these that to go back to Adelaide Travellers Inn Backpackers Hostel.

   DO NOT STAY HERE! My shower was covered in mould due to no ventilation. There’s no fan in the shower, the closet is right next the bathroom- due to no ventilation all of my clothes that were hanging up grew mould. My food was stolen 7 TIMES! Gary (the owner) doesn’t care at all. No matter how many complaints you make he will do nothing. The kitchen is disgusting and the whole place smells like wet dirty clothes.

   DO NOT STAY HERE. Double charged us for our room and were told we would get a refund which we never got. Tried contacting the property multiple times and were stonewalled. The place was filthy- there were cockroaches in the kitchen and the room smelled of dirty wet towels.

   They stole 150 dollars from me. Charged me twice for my booking, promised to give me a refund but it never came through. Now they're ignoring my calls and emails. Also place is DISGUSTING. Like the dirtiest place I've ever stayed and the rooms are mouldy.

It is almost a month and we don't received any money (27/4/24) the receptionist was a small lady, has a tattoo and wear glasses. I tried to call and email but no response at all and when the first time when I asked about the booking they reply me very fast Be careful guys! Don"t let them steal your money it is better to pay more money and you have a comfy room!!

    The feel of the place was positive and fun. I personally enjoyed the higgledy piggeldy-ness if the building and took me right back to my days working in a backpackers in UK The fact that no one has vacuumed the air vent in the bathroom in forever That the cracks to the drain in the sink were so mouldy it made us gag when we brushed our teeth The lock not working to the door. They attempted to fix but it didn't end up working.
