There was only one toilet available for more than 8 people. The male bedroom was like a half wall. So whenever people would walk to the female bedroom we could hear everything. My bedsheet wasn’t properly clean. The duvet had been already used by someone else, smelled like someone else. Crazy. I was lucky I had another duvet in car. The wash room is great. The kitchen is also very well maintained. Just the bedroom which is the most important part was terrible. Also the bunk beds were too squea...
Had a good stay
Sweet building and nice garden area with free roaming chickens. The bunk beds, rooms and the kitchen were okay.
Fine place not too far from the CBD. Nice staff who helped me with parking bc they have security cameras out front. Quite some long term residents which can be a bit weird when you're just backpacking yourself. Fine place with the facilities that you need and a nice area outside where you can sit and enjoy food/read or whatever.
The location is okay but is not ideal for getting to from the bus station. The property itself is a bit dated which is okay although I think in peak season having one toilet and one shower for both dorms might be inconvenient. Also a few things were not all that clean (for example the cutlery drawer) and the house was cold at night. We were given a heater but comments were made both times I actually used it. Although, outdoor area is lovely and Calvin was really welcoming and friendly!
A bit of a walk from bus drop off. Tiny room for backpackers with one window that doesn’t open; very hot and stuffy. Only 1 bathroom for all to use. Kitchen filled with flies. Nice yard for outdoor seating. Friendly staff.
Lovely building but the dorm rooms are very tiny and only a small partition to the other dorm ( there are only two dorms male and female). There is only one toilet and one shower. While I was there, there was a long-term young man staying there who was quite odd and intrusive and was sometimes asking for food. It felt quite cramped in the dorm rooms.
the only negative i have to say about this place is that the staff doesnt understandunderstand hospitality. i understand at 10am to vacate the area, but my bus wasnt until 5pm and ibhad already gone on a walk and went into the city to kill time. i came back to make some food and cleaned up after myself and this woman made me feel so horrible for having made a wrap. am i supposed to sit outside for 6 hours and leave my food out as well? i felt like a second class citizen.
I had the WORST Hostel Experience in a long time of travelling in this hostel! The bed was worn out, there was no room for the luggage and the air in the room was very bad because the window is tiny. Kitchen and bathroom were okay, all in all okay for 1/2 nights BUT on my last day just after check out one woman came and told me very aggressively I have to leave the hostel after check out and why I am still there. I did not disturb anyone (I was the only one in the kitchen) and just wanted to wa...

The perfect location to slow down! It’s so quiet and peaceful, and lovely staff
Had a good stay
One of the best hostels I’ve stayed in whilst travelling in NZ north island. Very friendly staff (I assume owners) and great facilities for cooking/cleaning and a wonderful garden to relax in. Really easy street parking, with some decent sized stores in walking distance as well.
Good stay and nice staff
Room was really small, but the living room and outdoor area were great!
peaceful stay
Was a good stay, the dorm was a bit weird tbh, it was also the access to another room, and separated by a wall that only reached just above the upper bunk. Other than that, nice lounge area and friendly staff
Loved it. Very friendly and comfortable. The dorm room was a little cramped, but fine. Has a great backyard hangout.
We stayed in a twin room, this meant we were on the B&B side of the property. This was a lovely and very traditional B&B, we had very comfy beds and there were a good number of showers and a lovely shaded veranda where we could relax in the afternoon. Not got too much to add, it was quiet and served its purpose very well!
dorm room was pretty small, but the garden was super sweet and everything was clean
Sweet building and nice garden area with free roaming chickens. The bunk beds, rooms and the kitchen were okay.
Everything was great except there was only one shower so we ended up waiting for ages for people to finish. Other than that it was genuinely one of the loveliest places we’ve stayed. Even then, when I did finally get in the shower, it was lovely and warm and had nice pressure

Not the best but worth it for value in the area. Not my favorite stay but cheap. You get what you pay for.
Really lovely owners and a very cared for and looked after Hostel. A bit far outside the city centre but everything else was amazing.
Good Hostel
Lovely quiet little hostel at the back of a B&B. Easy to socialise, or keep to yourself if you wish. The staff were friendly and helpful. Clean kitchen and bathrooms.
Good times Would definitely recommend
Really really enjoyed my stay here. Upgraded from a hostel to a private B&B room when i arrived and so glad i did. Such a relaxing stay- did yoga on the front porch, drank lots of tea and even took a soothing bath in their claw foot tub. Location is right on the river with a lovely walking trail that will take you across the river and to the main sites in town.
