Never again a homeless man took my bed

We didnt have a flushing toilet or a sink that wouldn't drain, the man st reception didnt seem to care at all and only option was give us a room that was a bigger room we booked but didnt explain of others would join us ( we booked a private room) it was also freezing cold with mold all over the windows (room 214) i wouldn't recommend to anyone. Spend a little more and receive an acceptable level of service

Absolutely horrendous riddled with cockroaches and staff were rude and abhorrent I wouldn’t go there again.

For my bicycle trip from Paris to London, I have made a reservation for 1 night for which I have paid an account. 2 days before, as I was already in my trip, Hostelword has called me to inform that due to security problem, my reservation was cancelled, without any help to find another place to stay. Today it is impossible to contact YHA Brighton or Hostelword for refund of account. The money is not so much, but the service is really not respectful. It s deceiving.

Regarding my reservation in this hostel for the night of July 15 2023, a fire broke out, forcing the evacuation. No more information about the non-effective night, no response as promised. A night to sleep on the floor, it's expensive as a price to sleep in that way!

room was freezing cold as i entered. only 2x small electric heater that would never heat up the room. i told the staff i won't be able to stay here. did not get my money back

After booking at 9.00 am , I have realise that due to a Bus strike, I couldn't reach Brighton from Heathrow Airport.....so 40 minutes later I called the hostel explaining what what was happening.... the booking has been done on the same day of my stay....so despite I tried to cancel almost straight away...I have been told, by a very un-flexible staff...that I had to pay even if I wasn't able to stay there that night.....so crappy place for me!!

I was not pleased with my stay here. i felt uncomfortable in my room because it was me alone with 7 older homeless men. there were homeless men sleeping in the lobby. it was just uncomfortable as a solo young female traveler. was not expecting that at all. I was supposed to stay another couple nights and felt so uncomfortable i had to change places to stay. the shower was also backed up and over flowed and the bathroom itself was dirty from the men living in there

The female 8 bed dorm was great. Lovely girls as we were all there for the same concert. Staff was nice at check in. Good bathroom. Overall a nice hotel.

Fantastic experience. Stayed in 8 bed female dorm which was spacious and surprisingly comfortable. Large unsuitable bathroom and plenty of space to store bags. Pretty much every part of the building you needed a room key to get through so felt safe. Felt even safer realising Pretty much the majority of people were there for the same gig as me. Great location , literally minutes from the beach/shops/bars.

I felt secure and very comfortable while staying there which made my trip even more memorable! :)

Decent hostel but I was very disappointed to hear that there are no lockers for people staying in 4 bed dorms. Other than that the rooms are decent.

Die Zimmer waren sauber. Leider war im Frauenschlafsaal ein Fenster kaputt, wodurch es sehr kalt und laut war. Der Altersdurchschnitt in dem Hostel war sehr hoch.

everything was ok only 8 dorm room a little bit to crowdy next time i will take again 4 dorm room like former time in june this year regards

As travelling as a young solo female I would not recommend staying in this a&o, i have stayed in a&os across europe and they continuously let me down. With unfriendly lying staff, homeless people occupying common rooms, and people “living” in dorm rooms. The place smelled so bad it kept me awake, long/-staying occupants were unhygienic, and limited shower pressure and temperature. With limited hostels in Brighton I don’t know if I would recommend this option.

L’hôtel est très bien situé, facile à trouver. La chambre privative est assez grande, avec une salle de bain spacieuse. Agréable séjour, avec seulement deux bémols: les matelas se fondent dans les lits à barreaux ce qui peut le rendre moins confortable et l’isolation est quasiment inexistante, on entends absolument tout de l’extérieur comme si nous étions avec eux.

I really enjoyed my staying here.

Yeah it was nice. Older building, gotta make Yr own bed which is fine, but i was in brighton for work (as a musician) so I didn't get in till late and trying to be super quiet and make my bed in the dark and not wake anyone was an extra annoyance, especially when its not exactly a cheap hostel. Although what is cheap in England? Haha.

it was my fist time here and I had a very good experience, really nice people staying in the same room with me in the hostel and very nice staff too, location is perfect and it is also a beautiful building, I will definitely come back

Great location, comfy beds, helpful staff, nice kitchen, privacy curtains for the beds would be a great addition!

Decent hostel for a nights stay. Nothing too fancy. No laundry service available, and floors very sticky in the downstars bathroom areas. Ensuit bathrooms very nice and great location. other than that nothing special.

It was noisy, endlessly noisy. I think I got 3 hours sleep. At 3am I was deciding if I put up with the noise or tried to find something else to stay. The staff were lovely, it's just a shame that is where the nice things I can say end.

Less than a minute walk to the beach, rooms were very clean and I felt very secure. The staff were so kind and very helpful!! Would recommend for your next trip to Brighton

Overall a great property very clean in most areas and the staff was overall friendly and helpful.
