People in the hostel start to sleep in the dormitories and come and go 20 times a night the horrible beds
I booked the place, came with my friend, no refundable two people 3 nights. The smell in the air was so bad, it had nauseating effect and had to leave the place. it was really bad. Could be spent a single night, and it was non refundable so lost almost 220 Singapore dollars.
If you're a woman traveling alone, just run away! I was supposed to stay for 3 nights, but I couldn't even manage one. There were only creepy old men in my dorm watching my every move, and I've rarely felt so scared in my life. The common areas are dirty, people smoke in the toilet, and the hallways smell like urine. If you're a man, for 1 or 2 nights it's okay because the location is really great and the staff is nice.
Horrible hostel. The guy at the reception freaked out because I rang the bell of the hostel, almost yelling at me. It’s dirty. One guy working for the hostel started to remove the linen before I even checked out Just don’t go guys
This was hell on earth. Wouldn’t recommend. I have spend the worst nights of my life here. German prison is more comfortable and less old creepy man than this hostel.
This was the worst hostel we ever stayed at. The hostel had very weird vibes. It is not a backpacker hostel and wouldnt recommend it to tourists visiting singapore. I didn‘t feel comfortable as most people in our dorm were older middle aged men and there was one man elderly man in particular who was ill and was in bed all day and night coughing. The room itself was cramped, dirty and dark. Only good thing about the hostel is the central location.
The room is a like a sweetshop. People that work at night sleep all day. It is not a backpacker hostel it is a hostel for workers. No wrong with that but definitely surprising.
Check in 2pm - 6pm? I wasn’t allowed to check in until 3pm even though my room or 10 had only one person in. They then let a group of 6 check in at 1am who stayed up unpacking until 2am. Just another hostel that lies about check in times. Good location but that’s it. No facilities. Staff weren’t particularly helpful. Wasn’t dirty but definitely wasn’t clean either. Too expensive for what you pay. Avoid.
I would not recommend any traveller to book this hostel. The people there are very weird, even they try to speak to you, they are not the type of travellers and seemed more like homeless people with plastic bags as suitcases. There were plenty of them, that’s why it stood out. In the night many men over 40 share a massive room with you and snore loud (all of them) and even don’t bother to control their farts in the dorm. It was just discusting for me to stay there- not recommended at all!!
The price they are charging providing no way near services like Ac was not working all night very congested place and not worth the money to go and live their.

There is no one in the establishment from 8pm to 9pm.Several customers booked, arrived later than 8pm and were left on the street without accommodation.
Royal Lodge front desk people is friendly and efficient. In your bed, you got privacy with curtains, even with nine other people. Kitchen is small ( microwave, fridge, hot water dispenser) to warm up food and keep leftovers. No social interaction as the hostel doesn't promote activities, and a few guys in house doesn't fit the traveller's profile. On the plus side, everything works (especially the indispensable A/C) and the location is excellent: a few steps from Chinatown's MRT station.
Aboslutely loved this spot. Great location, super friendly staff. Very functional, lots of bathrooms so you are never waiting on anyone. They keep it clean and most people respect quiet hours, etc. Super secure entry with lockers available, too. We would most certainly come back. Even for New Year's Eve, it was not overly congested and was easy to walk back to this hostel. Thank you so much!

Location it's good but everything looks old and not very comfortable.
Of course it was cheap for Singaporean hostels, but still it wasn't really clean, almost only people who live there and the safety and rooms during the day where horrible.
Felt super safe here, my bunk was nice and private, location is AMAZING in the heart of Chinatown right by the metro. Staff were very nice and there’s a kitchen and some common spaces to hang out in. My only criticism is there was one toilet on each floor which is not enough! Overrall a great place to stay

hostel is ok foe the price but the seating area outside the room means peoplpeople on the phone and liareliarening to videos will keep you up late at night. mouse shit on the pillow and bed when i arrived and only one shower per floor to carer for everyone. no curtains on the top bunk so no privacy and air con is turned off all day. good location with close to chinatown food market and mrt. good enough if you're on a budget but definitely nothing to right home about.
very nice
Amazing location in Chinatown. When they say close to the MRT they mean it. Hostel itself is okay, not social at all but a good place to sleep. The room didn't have a window to the outside so it was always dark in the room. Staff is great.
a few reviews say they were uncomfortable from older men staying here, luckily, i did not have this experience - the others in the hostel were backpackers as well, so i felt safe and comfortable. i also loved the location!!
Out of three showers, one didn't work, and the others were just disgusting. The people (other guests) seemed like they didn't care... The shower's constantly smelled like pee, and one day it even smelled like someone threw up in the shower. The beds were squeaky and the mattresses saggy. The fact that there was no female dorm meant that I had constant loud snoring from all sides and woke up once with a creepy guy standing next to me... No location is worth the stress of those two nights.
Very safe and very very friendly staff, with little care. the dorms are small and we are many but everything is done to make you feel at home. everything is very clean. i recommend it
No, but the temperature with the air conditioning was too low and it was not possible to change it
The location is unsurpassed, on the main street of Chinatown and central to everything. the room was very comfortable and the quiet hours were respected, but this is not a social hostel if that is what you are looking for, personally being able to go out on the street and have the social atmosphere did not worry me. they clean it every day but the toilets being wet rooms are a bit sloppy. all the staff were very friendly and helpful
enjoyed my time! really nice staff who are helpful and friendly. I got really lucky with meeting friends as its less so a social hostel. perfect location. only negative would be that the showers smell a little of urine and need a better clean from it.
Comfortable stay. Central location in Chinatown’s touristy area, with direct MRT connections to the airport and world class transportation. Walkable to Clarke Quay, Boat Quay, Merlion and other spots.
Prima hostel, ontzettend fijne locatie. Personeel was vriendelijk.
Nice hostel, very nice location. facilities are not great, but normal if you are used to traveling in Asia. staff was friendly.
