Princes Street Hostel

+ Restaurant food was ok They did give a refund because of the issue with the lift and because we had notified them in advance the lift was a requirement. This really does not cover the pain suffered by my wife.

- Lift not working and apparently this is a regular issue according to staff so the stairs just to get to reception was huge (see Photos). As my wife has severe back issues and has a disability blue badge, this really affected and impacted the two night stay. On the day we were leaving a woman with a small child, pushchair and luggage, plus another woman with health issues were at a loss as to how it was going to work without a lift. They should not take bookings for people with issues can be sure the lift is working.l Room dark and there are no shelves in the wardrobe. No instructions in the room for ...Fire procedures ...Phone usage ...Air conditioning control.

- Was on 5th floor. Like an attic. No elevator to rooms. Just terrible.

- i booked a room with a street view open the curtain and all i could see was the back of the big sign HOTEL

- They double booked our room and sent us if to the sister hotel which is more like a premier Inn with no discount

- My stay was ultimately cancelled and moved to a worse hotel

+ We could not paek outside topickup or drop offour luggage.The staff said it was because or roadworks but it was mot. There is a bus stop outsideand yhere are so many restrictons o Princesstreet it is impossible to bring a private car any where near the hotel

- See abive. Also there was too much furniture in theroo so we could not move around the room.

- Put in a room where the corridor was being painted. Then room changed to a room where the hotels air conditioning units were, they hummed most of the night and we didn’t get much sleep. Also our room was not serviced and therefore we did not get clean towels.

+ The lounge and restaurant were lovely. The hotel room facilities included a fridge with complimentary water and chocolate. The bathroom had a good shower and complimentary toiletries. It was light and had good mirrors

- On arrival we were informed that the lift was out of order but they were expecting it to be fixed that day. As I have heart failure a lift is needed as I lose breath easily. Our room was on 3rd floor up 3 double flights of stairs which I found very difficult. The lift was not fixed by the following day and on complaint I was told that they could phone around other hotels to see if they had vacancies. As this would have meant more upheaval we declined. We were initially offered complimentary drinks but after some insistence they agreed to refund 1 night stay. We stayed in our room at night not wanting to navigate the stairs. It was not helped that our telephone in room did not work so had to phone reception from mobile which meant using an outside line and delay in answering The room was small and very dark. Difficult to see to make a drink.

- I am nit one who complains so did not say anything about the 2 times i had pancakes fir breakfast.one pancaje waa burnt could nof eat ut and instead if pancajes second time gor 2 pieces of bread instead.thats the only thing i didnt like about the meals .

+ Nice comfortable room with interesting décor, reasonable size and clean. Hotel has a nice bar and good restaurant being in an excellent location for exploring Edinburg

- External noise from nearby aircon

+ Excellent hotel . Rooms very big and spacious . Very clean. Fantastic location. Great breakfast.

+ L'hotel est magnifique, on peux facilement se perdre à arpenter les murs remplis de tableaux. La chambre était trop cosy avec un lit très confortable et une belle salle de bain ! Le service est impécable et l'équipe a pu répondre à toutes nos demandes.

+ Excellent location, great staff, clean, well decorated, great view of the city. Quiet even though it’s on a very busy street. As they don’t have many connecting rooms - the staff ensured our family was together - with rooms just across the hall from each other (many thanks!).

- Small things: no drawers/shelves in the room - only hanging (which always drives me crazy in a hotel) and the bed was not my favorite. Otherwise all was great.
