Really a beautiful place! it's the only positive point. A horrible reception with a speech filled with vulgarity , hygiene was impressive in the negative sense. It is in no way a hostel is a mountain refuge! I was called "Terrorist" for no reason! it's my worst experience in Scotland , I was so happy when I hit the road again !!
The area is great, but this hostel has the stinkiest toilets you can think of and we were greeted with curses and veiled threats of being escorted out in the middle of the night or locked in for the whole weekend because we got there by car, not getting an alleged email stating there was no road access (even though there is, since Google map led us there). There was also an allusion of us (two non-white, one blonde) being terrorists. Seriously! Never been so happy to leave a hostel at 7am.
I was so looking forward to this place, but wild camping would have been preferable. I would say a hostel is only as good as the customers and then location. The gents has a room of 12 beds, crammed in, with not enough space for backpacks/bags. No inside toilet, that is out, via kitchen, vestibule, outside, round back of building, to outhouses. Shower was good, unless someone washed up at the same time. If this is the jewel in the crown for Scottish hostels, then they judge only on location. Mid...
Great location for munros. Lack of family rooms. Very peaceful spot. Stayed 2 nights. Jan is a great host.
I had to cancel this accommodations due to rail strike. I have not had refund yet.
Great wee place and met some lovely people. Now has electricity some 25/30 years ago there was not. Went to bed with a roaring fire and an oil lamp, same beautiful views. Hope I am still here 30 years from now to make a return visit. Cheers Peeps.
Fantastic youth hostel on the Bank of Loch Ossian, perfect stopover for hillwalking and cyclists. It's very rustic so be prepared for long drop toilets outside, basic facilities but warm and dry.
Tolle Lage, wunderschön. Immer schnell ausgebucht.
Great location, beautiful. always quickly booked. unfortunately in recent years many Schotterpistes have been plowed into the landscape. sure toll for cyclists, less for hikers. this has also affected the remoteness of the hostels. it is now much easier to reach. still beautiful and rustic. Ein ganz besonderer Platz.
Walk from the station is excellent to the youth hostel between trains walking is quite tight 1 hour 20 minutes is. A verry brisk pace. Ware good footware
A wonderful three night stay here during a rather wet and windy week this summer. The hostel has everything you need and is rather basic but is still good value for money. I do feel that basic facilities could have been provided such as tea/coffee, salt and cooking oil but alas they were not. I do also feel that the requirement to close the hostel during the day for cleaning is an outdated practice, especially for a hostel of this size which cannot possibly require five hours of cleaning each ...

Very friendly hostel in amazing setting.
This is very of grind, so you should be aware of that. If that is what your looking for it is the perfect place for you. Super cozy, amazing people and in the middle of nature. The place to slow down and get away from everything!
Fantastic stay in one of the most remote places in the Highlands, Jan, (the warden), was a delight, friendly welcome, helpful and always seemed to be smiling. She is a credit to the hostel nd the weary traveler's who stay there. I have been retired for a few years, but I and my old army friend still do walks and adventures and apart from the weather it could not have been better. Well done.
Absolutely brilliant spot. Loch Ossian Hostel has one of the best locations you’ll ever stay in, right on the loch with incredible views of the surrounding hills. It feels completely remote and peaceful, which makes it perfect for switching off and enjoying the Highlands. Waking up to the view over the water is something special. If you love nature and quiet places, the setting here is hard to beat. And getting there is part of the adventure. Jan was very helpful and made sure you had what you...

Amazing 👏 👏
Loved staying here! Affordable & very welcoming in a fantastic area Would happily visit again Thanks for your hospitality!
Beautiful place to stay! The lady was very kind and helpful. The kitchen is a bit small when the place is fully booked so try have an early dinner. There is heaps of walking and fishing to do around the place and I managed to pull some nice pike from the loch, the beds are comfy and the hostel is clean. I would highly recommend this beautiful place
Hostel in beautiful location , people very friendly and helpful , duvets and linen supplies were spotless , as were the showers. Only inconvenience was toilet outside.
Great location
Super étape ! Le coin est magnifique ! Une petite parenthèse enchantée :)
The coin is beautiful! a little enchanted parenthesis :)
Amazing place. Many beautiful hikes you can do from here. Very remote, but that's the reason to come here really. Staff was very friendly. Would love to come back some day.
很喜歡這裡,很安靜,管理的奶奶人很好!像是高級山屋,床鋪舒適還可以洗熱水澡。有廚房可以帶食材來料理。是個放鬆度假的好地方!
I always enjoy staying here when climbing Munros.

What a beautiful friendly warm oasis in the 'magnificent desolation' of Rannoch Moor.
Great location for munros. Lack of family rooms. Very peaceful spot. Stayed 2 nights. Jan is a great host.
An absolute jewel in the crown of SYHA The 'facilities' are of course location -specific. A microwave would have been useful, and uses less electricity than the conventional stove. But this place is what it is, and wonderful
loved it one of the most unique stays I've ever had. A cozy wooden cabin like you would imagine. Would love to come back one day
Jan ,the manager , went out of her way when we first arrived. I was freezing cold having cycled through the rain and bitter cold. She instantly switched on a hot shower, brought me a warm dressing gown and hot cup of tea. Unforgettable care😊
