Ahoy! Hostel

I had an amazing stay at this hostel! From the moment I arrived I felt very welcome — the hosts are super warm, friendly, and always up for a nice chat. Katie was such a lovely host, it honestly felt like coming home. The location is perfect, right in the center, and the atmosphere makes it really easy to meet people. The pub crawl was one of the highlights of my stay — such a fun and social way to meet other travelers, and it really helped create a friendly community vibe. Even if you arrive solo, you’ll quickly feel part of the group. The dorms were really comfortable, with curtains around the beds that gave a lot of privacy. Everything was always clean, and I had no issues at all with hygiene or bed bugs. One small point for improvement: sometimes it wasn’t very clear when new roommates would arrive, so it could be a little surprising to suddenly find new people in the room. Of course, that’s not always easy to manage, but maybe giving guests a heads-up could make it smoother. Also, for solo travelers, female-only and male-only dorms would be a nice option. Overall, I absolutely loved my stay — warm atmosphere, great people, fun activities like the pub crawl, perfect location… I’d definitely recommend it to anyone!

It has been a couple years since I stayed here, but the problems with the bedbugs my friend and I picked up here remained. One of the worst experiences and has cost me thousands in damages to have ever been here.

It was reported there were bed bugs in the beds, but when I spoke to someone about it, he stated that they were mosquito bites. It is estimated that there are 15 bites all over the body. The majority of members of the team were pleasant, however one gentleman dismissed what we were saying when spoken to.

Everything was sticky to touch or dusty. Super noisy in the evenings. Tiny toilets. Weird showers. Left after 2 nights after reading the recent reviews mentioning bedbugs here and on Facebook. Didn't see them myself, but the place is dirty enough to give them a loving home.

INFESTED WITH BEDBUGS. Do not stay here - my friend and I have had hundreds of bites surface covering our bodies in the days after we slept here in horrible and uncomfortable allergic reactions. We did not go anywhere else so the bugs were definitely here. I remember seeing black dots on the bed but as I've not encountered bedbugs before I didn't realise until it was too late. Absolutely disgusting. UPDATE: when emailed about it the hostel denied all responsibility while my friend and I are having to take days off due to the pain.

The location is great, close to the old town and mais attractions, but I got some bed bug bites there!
