Olé Backpackers Hostel

After years of searching I've found it, the hostel from hell! The photos of the rooms are far from the reality, as of room number 4, the 4 bed one, it was filthy, smelly, most things looked broken or were broken(my bedside lamp switch), the "windows" which at places turned out to be panes of polyacrylic were not even fitted to the window frames, leaving an open gap, as the room faces the street and it is right above the bar patio, it provides zero sound insulation and expect to get no sleep till midnight when the bar closes. At my arrival, the AC did not work, I was told by a grumpy receptionist it was broken, after inquiring on the second day, another receptionist conjured up a remote control out of a magic box hiding other RCs from other rooms and got it work. On top of that I got two bug bites the first night and three more the second one, so it is obvious that the generally low standard of cleanliness resulted in bed bugs! As I checked the other reviews, most of the negative things are long term,persisting ones, it is a pity the management doesn't take them into serious consideration. The bottom line: other rooms might be fine, but the four bed bedroom number 4 is messy, filthy, extremely noisy due to the bar below, and of course, the bed bug issue.

In hostel were bedbugs.I reported it to the reception and was moved to another bed in the same room, where the problem was even worse. The next day I wanted to move to another room where there would be no insects, but the Manager -Thomas kicked me out of the hostel because I talked to another hotel guest about bedbugs and showed the bites on my body.

the worst hostel we have ever stayed in after 3 months backpacking. the showers have transparent glass doors and no curtains so there’s no privacy at all. the staff were really rude and unhelpful when I woke up with bed bug bites and they told me they didn’t have them and offered no apology. the lockers in the room were tiny and half of the locks didn’t work so there was nowhere to leave your stuff. the ‘luggage storage’ is the hallway to the hostel. only redeeming feature is location :(((

Las paredes estaban sucias, partes del suelo de la habitación rotas. Habia chinches en una parte de la pared donde estaba mi cama. La cama hundida, los baños viejisimos y sucios.
