A disgusting, filthy place. The staff don't seem to want to work, and the beds don't have mattresses. I stayed one day and left because it was impossible to sleep. I recommend you look for another place if you want to rest and enjoy your trip.

It’s a bed - kind of - The mattresses were so thin it just felt like sleeping on the metal slats, the room was filthy (the bathrooms worse) and only one socket for everyone in the room. No locks on the doors or lockers. Also hardly saw any staff & no one around when we were checking out.

Avoid if possible. The women working there was rude. Her dog was gross and was slobbering everywhere. The side of my bed fell off as I got into it. AC was nice but I could feel the metal pole through my mattress. Made it hard to sleep. No where to lock up valuables.

I would like to rename this place Mad moody…considering the staff nor facilities were in good form. I’m not sure if they are using the mad monkey logo to attract business or they actually are part of the chain of hostels. I have stayed at mad monkeys before and this just was not the same.Bathroom stank of piss and was extremely dirty. One plug socket between ten people is not ideal. My mattress had chunks missing. You didn’t collaborate with the hostel. The website said we could check in late, but when we came, the receptionist was impolite and didn’t grant us access to our rooms. On top of that, we haven’t gotten our deposit back even though we have written a message to the website. You have lost a customer.

Monkey Samui was by far the worst hostel I’ve stayed in, and I’ve been in a lot of questionable ones. Booked it because it was cheap and near the ferries to get to the Full Moon Party. Honestly felt more like a prison. I wholeheartedly recommend finding somewhere else.

Simple and nice accommodation! Slightly away from the busyness of Chaweng Beach. Has character and the staff are nice. Animal smell in the hostel and no comfortable seating area for guests to enjoy but rooms are cute and comfy.

they were cheap and worth what you pay for, the beds were 3 different mattresses on top of each other so not a good bed. the kitchen was really disgusting, don't cook there

Personal war sehr nett. Und für den Preis war alles zufrieden stellend. Die Social area war relativ klein aber die Lage war gut und wir haben uns sicher gefühlt.

El hostal esta bien ubicado! De ahí puedes caminar a los templos y playas guapas en ese lado de la isla, esta cerca al muelle que va y viene de koh phangan. Sin embargo los lockers estaban malogrados y siempre es necesario tenerlos operativos cuando se duerme en cuarto compartido ! Hay un solo enchufe para todo el dormitorio! Pero volvería 😉

Nice hostel, could be cleaner

Really recommend, you get great value for your money. However, if you’re looking for something fancy this place is not what you’re searching for. Also, huge bonus that the owners dog called Hippo is so cute and friendly!

We had a great time there. Once you get used to the hard bed and ants walking in the shower it’s actually not that bad. The beds were clean that was the most important for me. It is very affordable so I did not expect too much comfort from it. It’s a great place when you are on a budget. I must say that if they would clean the shower area better it would be much better, the bedrooms were clean though!

Absolutely decent especially for the price, but don't expect too much

Great budget option with really kind owner. If you prefer “nicer” hostels with curtains/lamps/etc then double your budget and go somewhere else. But if you’re looking for something cheap within walking distance of the beach and temples I really recommend this one. The owner can also help with booking transport off the island, got picked up at the hostel, taken to the port, then picked up on the mainland and taken to the train station, almost no waiting time in between and all booked...

Some people who leave reviews that are overly negative have probably been spoilt too much in life! All you need is a bed, a shower and aircon, especially when the weather is so good here. I spent three weeks at Monkey hostel and I have no complaints. If I ever come back to Koh Samui I would definitely stay here again. Great value for money and an easy vibe.

for the price you pay its fine. just dont expect something crazy. it looks abit shittie and is not alway that clean. but location was pretty nice. near to a 7/11 and some good restaurants. 20 min walk to the beach

Staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. Basic facilities but is extremely cheap so get what you pay for.

Sehr gut, wenn man etwas ruhiges sucht. Umgerechnet 4€/Nacht für ein Bett mit ac in einem ruhige und entspannten Schlafsaal. Easy von dort zur fullmoon zu gehen, habe dort danach noch 3 Nächte verlängert und mit einem ausgeliehenen Bike alles gemacht. Erwartungen etwas runter schrauben und Preis genießen
