Little Drifter Cairns

1/5 stars… It was extremely hot everywhere. The AC in our room didn’t work, and even the bathrooms were unbearably hot, which is not acceptable during the Australian summer. Cleanliness was also a big issue. There was dust and hair under the beds, the bathrooms were often closed for cleaning but still dirty, and the showers had what looked like mold. Hostel has nice features but overall a very unclean and unfriendly atmosphere. Lots of longtimers and staff who live in the hostel so not very social. The fire alarm went off 3 times whilst I was there and the power went off. My room's door was broken the entire time I was there despite reception knowing so either you got locked out or the door didn't shut at all. And on the last night the girl in the bed above mine shouted at me to switch my light off at 9pm. Cook ups aren't worth the money.

Luggage storage not secure - got notification to say it opened while i was on group tour. Hostel charged me for 4 nights when I only stayed 2, check your bank if you stay here. Facilities super nice so was a huge shame!

This hostel is not worthy of the high ratings that everyone else gives it. It is in a good location but the rooms have very little space, the bathrooms are constantly closed, and it’s not very social. The ac is only in the dorms rooms so it’s not comfortable to be in the small amount of common areas that they have. They don’t have real keys and the digital keys do not work and I saw many people struggling with them

We’ve stayed at drifters in AUS + NZ and this was the worst of a good bunch. Nice enough hostel but our room smelled awful the entire time (weird meat?) and the bathrooms were never clean, even after the cleaners had been in.

Big hostel, no vibes. It's totally fine. Clean and organised but they send out passive aggressive mass texts if people hang towels up to dry, you need an app to access the doors, dorms are cramped, I think it's the most expensive hostel in cairns and not really worth it.

Compared to other little drifters, this location was lacking. The kitchen was unclean, so there were bugs infesting in food bins along with mold. The reception area isn’t welcoming and it’s not very secure as one night there was a group of local teenagers who got past the locked door and were running around and yelling in the hallways. Had all of my food nicked from the fridges. Would not recommend

The actual property is nice. Jade brought a man continuously into our all female dorm so I wasn’t ok with that. Seems like staff knew who she was, not sure if she worked there or was causing problems in other ways. They didn’t do much about it beside just give her warnings which didn’t change her behavior, be aware of that if you are a solo female traveler. It was really good. The beds are very comfy. The showers are superb, and toilets were clean. There is a nice balcony area to relax and eat food. The kitchen is a little small and the online keycard to unlock your room is a little tedious but overall I'd recommend staying here for sure!

The rooms are crammed and you can’t really put your luggage anywhere.

Overall a nice hostel, the bathrooms and beds were really nice (with curtains which seems to be a rarity in Aus!). I would say though that there was an unpleasant, strong smell of damp in both rooms I stayed in and the kitchen was filthy, which of course lies on guests but I feel the team could be more proactive about keeping it hygienic . I wouldn’t say it was particularly social but the team was super friendly and made you feel welcome.

Mooi hostel! Gordijntje bij je bed is super fijn en nette badkamers! Alleen niet super sociaal. De keuken was ook altijd helemaal vol met mensen wat koken lastig maakte.

Overall had a great stay. Staff (especially Alex) were very helpful and nice. Many bathroom and shower facilities, but they would close the whole bathroom at the least convenient times for cleaning. I will say though, the bathrooms are very clean. The kitchen not so much. Absolutely disgusting. They give you a bin to put your stuff in and they were so gross. Also hard to find space for your food. The AC is always on, which I appreciate bc Cairns is hot!

The kitchen was so dirty the whole time i was there but the rooms are decent enough and the bathrooms are really good. There isnt much of a social aspect due to the hostel being so big and lots of set groups

Little Drifter was sooo nice, it’s such a good location in town close to everything. It’s very secure for guests with several digital locks linked to the keycard in your phone, it doesn’t always load instantly tho. Almost felt like a hotel with the size and layout and the bathroom was massive and always clean. Room was very comfortable with an actual duvet, i had a great time in Cairns and would stay here again for sure!

Absolutely amazing hostel. We had some problems with our room but the staff was super helpful and handled problems well!

Not the best drifter I have stayed at since the bunks in the dorm were a bit flimsy, the lockers were quite small, and there wasn’t any cold water tap in the kitchen. The staff were however very kind and helpful.

Really good hostel to stay at nice and clean and feel staff. All range of people staying here. Location is in a great spot, 5 min walk to esplanade. Really accommodating for me and my partner.

Pretty good, very clean and not too loud at night

Arrived and was put into a mixed dorm even though I had payed for female only. However staff were very helpful and moved me immediately. The kitchen was busy at meal times but enough space to cook and store food. Overall nice hostel

Hostel is very hot but aircon in dorms. A lot of long termers and very limited space in the kitchen/ common areas.

Needs more fridge and storage space! Bed didn’t have any shelf to put phone whilst it charged overnight which was annoying. Nice bathrooms and lounge area. Would like more hostel events as wasn’t very sociable / easy to meet people. Didn’t like the key being on the phone to be honest. Friendly staff and good free Pilates class (would like more of these events).

Such a lovely hostel in a great location! The bathrooms were the nicest shared hostel bathrooms I’ve seen! Bedroom was nice and beds had curtains which was great! There is not loads of storage space available in the kitchen and it could get very busy in the evenings but other than that, it was a fantastic hostel! I’d absolutely stay here again!

Very hot!! Our room had a/c but also have mould dripping down the wall. Overall nice vibes, however the kitchen was very stuffy and busy all the time.

It looks nice and rooms are clean. But all communal areas were way too small for the amount of people staying. The kitchen was chaos and the fridges were crammed so full you could never find your things also ants everywhere. No secure place to store luggage. And the shower/bathrooms get so hot a girl nearly fainted in there.

Little Drifter is located in a safe convenient location near a Woolworth’s where you can buy the best produce and snacks. Tour company next door hooked up my mom and I with 2 amazing tours. The Drifter has a spacious kitchen and tv room lounge area downstairs. The showers was great with soap. You bring your towel. Das Hostel war eines der saubersten, in denen ich jemals war. Nachts war es ruhig, die Räume waren gut ausgestattet mit Vorhängen und mit großen abschließbaren Fächern. Auch die Badezimmer und Küche waren sehr sauber. Top Lage, sehr zentral. Ich habe mich zu jeder Zeit dort wohlgefühlt und würde es definitiv noch mal buchen
