Treck Hostel

Staying at this hostel was something to remember, in one of the worst ways possible. 2 stars for the friendly (at first) staff and the cost, minus 3 stars for the conditions. I arrived here on July 4, and by the following afternoon I was moderately covered in bed bug bites. There’s virtually no air circulation in the rooms, the bathrooms are disgusting. The listing advertised ‘daily housekeeping’ and I never saw a difference between the “cleanliness” of the morning and the afternoon. Standing in the shower you can look up and see a variety of dead bugs, spiders, and their nests covering every surface of the ceiling. Breakfast is five euros each morning if you wish, and don’t even waste your money on it. There’s no real food, just a random combination of bread, chocolate, and cheese. I was only here for 3 days, and by the time I left I had over 30 bed bug bites all over my body. When I brought this up to the staff, I was consistently gas lit and accused of bringing in the bugs from my own home. I argued over email consistently for another 3 days and only after I threatened to dispute the charge with my bank for false advertising (clean, sanitary, daily housekeeping) they offered a 50% refund. And then proceeded to not even refund me the full 50%, saying that booking.com keeps a portion of it. Keep your expectations low when booking here. The price is great but if you have any complaints then good luck finding a resolution.

There were bed bugs in the room. I woke up the next day with dozens of red and swollen spots on my body. The hostel is too remote and it takes 25 minutes to walk to the city center.

In eerste instantie leek het erg leuk en gezellig. Echter bij thuiskomst bleek dat onze caravan was getroffen door bedwantsen! Met als gevolg dat alle gasten uit deze caravan volledig onder de bultjes en uitslag zaten. Een zéér onprettige ervaring met alle gevolgen van dien. Hierna contact opgenomen met het hostel om dit aan te geven waarom we als eerste aanbieding een korting kregen op een volgend verblijf. Hier zaten we uiteraard niet op te wachten. Uiteindelijk hebben we €99,- terug gekregen terwijl we €171,50 hebben betaald per caravan. Reactie op mails duurt vaak erg lang..
