Castaway Island Hostel

Breakfast supposably starts at 7 am but that seems to actually be when the staff are just getting in. I asked for breakfast at 7 am and it still was not ready at 7:30 am when I had to leave. If the blender wasn’t working why did they not tell me so I could get something else? The doors to the dorms do not lock. I asked for a key and the staff were not able to locate it. Why do they not have multiple copies of the key? Not safe for a solo female traveler. They play loud music until midnight.

The place in general was nice, the staff were polite, friendly. And welcoming, the place it’s self was hard to find middle of no where. Was here for the silent 🤫 day. And that was frustrating but annoying I get it’s there thing but I could have been advised before coming . And it was hard like couldn’t even have a candle on it any thing I gets it there thing but at least let us put a candle on won’t hurt. The cleanness was okay. Bathroom could have had a clean down. Never really saw ...

Everything was nice. Just the bathroom and toilets weren’t clean at all. The staff is very kind and helpfull.

The hostel is located in a very quiet and idyllic area, perfect for anyone looking to relax and enjoy nature. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, which I really appreciated. Unfortunately, many of the rooms were infested with bedbugs, which made my stay quite uncomfortable. I got the impression that the hostel is aware of the problem but isn’t really taking effective action to solve it. Because of this, I decided to leave.

not very social (quiet), lots of mosquitos

The hostel is very quite and distant from the main town, there are still nice restaurants, cafes and beaches around. It is not that easy to socialise there as previous reviews mentioned. The beds were cleaned, the mattresses too soft though and it was annoying that the smell from the sewage was so strong in the bathrooms ( which are inside the dorms). And there isn't sweet water in the shower. Mushroom beach is 7 minutes walk from the hostel.

Not a bad hostel but definitely overrated by the reviews. Not too big, no party and calm atmosphere, but: the outside "bar" is just a public kitchen without a stove or a fridge for guests (the hostel-fridge gets locked over night), the pool is bathtub-warm, curtains on bunk beds are slightly seethrough (especially when you have lights on in the bed) and don't close all the way, no hooks or shelfs in the beds and only one in the showers. Multiple showers per dorm is good though.

It’s a clean and a great location for a hostel. The only thing I don’t like is the internet. They have the slowest internet when I was there though the staff are really accommodating.

Staff are super lovely here! There were only 3 other people staying in the hostel when I was here but the staff still made it alright. Super close to the beach as well. The room and bathroom had a damp smell though, not sure why.

Castaway was awesome and exactly as advertised. The facilities were amazing and super clean. The staff were very welcoming and created a great atmosphere for their guests.

Loved this hostel! Good chill vibes, social, the staff is the friendliest ever. 4bed dorm is spacious, beds are big. Could use some renovations on the walls and bathroomdoors and showerhead, but other than that perfect. Pool and garden area is lush and location is nice, close to shops and restaurants but not in the busy part or the island. The tours they organise are such good fun and breakfast you can order is great. Would def recommend and stay again!

Amazing family run hostel, with the cutest pets. The staff go above and beyond and spend time with the guests making them feel at home. The dorms are super comfy and spacious, with the staff making the beds every morning for you. Lovely outside pool spaces with shaded areas also. Great social activities including karaoke, pool tournament and pool party. Good location a short walk from shops,restaurants and numerous beaches. Breakfast is well priced and tasty.

Wow, this is maybe the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in. The grounds are beautiful, there is 2 pools, free tea, coffee, water, comfortable beds, clean bathrooms and good AC. There is so much space to hang out. I have no complaints, such good value for money :)

Amazing hostel! The private bungalows were so nice. There are two really nice pools on the property! What really makes this place amazing is the staff who are so welcoming and helpful-shout out to Andre and deko! Would recommend the snorkel tour with them!

Such a great stay here! The staff were so incredibly friendly and helpful! Treated myself to a private room and it was such good value! Loved having the option of two pools and lots of communal spaces :)

Loved my stay here. Great and clean hostel and well located. The best was the staff, always really kind and ready to help. Thanks to them we had a really special Nyepi and silent day experience. Bonus they have extremely cute pets. Thank you :)

Absolutely loved this hostel! The staff were so warm and welcoming, could’ve stayed here way longer 🥹💗 the bungalows were so nice and a great place to rest after a long day! If you’re looking for somewhere super chill but social this is the place for you!

By far the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in! It’s rainy season right now, so a little on the quiet side, but it was so relaxing I extended my stay by three days 😊. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, they made my stay amazing! Location just a little outside of the main part of the island, but very close to loads of nice spots on that part, and you can easily get around with a scooter. Very clean and good vibes all around. I’ll definitely be back!

This is the best hostel i’ve ever been in. To start, the furniture is new, everything works and the staff keeps the room clean everyday multiple times a day, they make your bed and clean literally everything. The hostel is close to the main stuff and some good restaurants, it’s also minutes away (walk) from a few beaches. The hostel is unreal, it has a pool, pool table and dart plus more games which is really nice, it had a really nice vibe. Unfortunately our dorm had bed bugs so they moved everyone to another one however, this one had bed bugs too :( if they have dealt with them properly then it is a really nice place to stay. The road isn’t great to get to it but it’s doable

One of the best hostels I've stayed in! Gorgeously clean, brand new facilities, safe and secure cabins, loads of tools to keep you entertained! The breakfast menu is cheap, good (and quick!) and the staff are all absolutely wonderful.

Staff were amazing and very helpful. They set up movie night for a few times and insisted on doing it themselves even after we offered to help. They also rescued a puppy that was absolutely adorable and such a joy. Heads up if you have bleached hair the pool will make it green!

I loved this place and everyone was sooo friendly!! Its was clean and a really cozy place! They had two pools and the staff was amazing! I can highly recommend this hostel
