- Cheguei da Nicarágua após muito trânsito o ônibus atrasou entao cheguei a San José para apanhar o ônibus para Puerto Viejo e os último ônibus das 16h tinha saído tive que pernoitar lá e já tinha as noites reservadas e depois de explicar tive que pagar uma noite na qual não estive lá se quer, depois quando cheiei ao outro dia queria pagar com cartão tentei duas vezes não funcionou disseram para ir levantar eu disse que o problema rra da máquina desconfiados disseram para ir levantar lá fui levantar cheguei lá disseram que realmente era a máquina pois outros entretanto tentaram e não deu também, depois muito barulho pela noite, quatro noites nem a roupa da cama mudaram. Muito mau

- J’ai séjourné dans la chambre individuelle n°16 pour 7 nuits. Très déçue de mon séjour. Chambre humide, odeur d’égout, moustiquaire poussiéreux et présence de des déjections de geckos au sol. Aucun ménage pendant 4 jours et personnel peu accueillant. J’ai finalement décidé de quitter le logement avant la fin de mon séjour pour aller dans une auberge plus propre et moins chère. C’est dommage, car l’endroit avait du potentiel, mais les conditions d’hygiène et l’entretien sont clairement à revoir.
- we booked a private room for our rest. the room is adjacent to the kitchen, which serves as a meeting place and where continuous noise and music comes from. There is also a sofa next to our room... On the other side we continuously hear a family shouting and making music. We are surrounded by noise from all sides and there is no 0.0 peace! It's not worth the money and we feel cheated!

- Kein Wasser, weder auf Toilette, Waschbecken oder Dusche. Die Info kam erst nach dem Bezahlvorgang bei Schlüsselübergabe. Personal unfreundlich. Kanalisationsgeruch im Zimmer. Schlechteste Unterkunft, in der wir je waren.
The privates are tiny, don't have much ventilation and the walls are very thin so you don't have any privacy. They didn't give us a key to our room, we had to lock it with our small padlock. The fan on top of the bed is too strong to let you sleep, even it the lowest setting. And without it the room gets very warm due to the lack of ventilation. The mosquito net in the bed smelled really bad so we tried to not use it but the mosquitoes were all over us. We slept really bad that night.

- Het was niet schoongemaakt, afvalemmertje bij het toilet zat vol, spiegel en wastafel vies; we hadden een nachtelijke bezoeker die een gat in een rugtas heeft gebeten; ventilator met oorverdovend lawaai; buurman die zijn sleutel was vergeten en daardoor moest de deur eruit getimmerd worden ‘s avonds laat en gehorig. Mijn dochter en ik hebben ons verlies genomen en zijn vertrokken.
I woke up the morning after sleeping here, COVERED in bites that appear to be bedbug bites. I emailed and they insisted that they deep clean and wash the mattresses everyday, but that’s not what I saw when the cleaner was cleaning. Was not a warm welcome to Puerto Viejo, and kind of traumatizing.

The hostel is not like the pictures nor how it is desribed. The “private” rooms Are litteral boxes of bamboo with Big see through mesh gaps to the next room and they Are located in the showerroom. It smells terrible and there is no windows and Only a small rusty fan of the Wall. The “shared” toilet is shared with the whole hostel and is located in the kitchen. The Doors have a gap of 20 cm at the top and bottom which means that we from the reception (next to the kitchen) could here peopl...

- Anuncio fala que aceita cartão para pagamento, quando chega lá pro check-in te cobram 3,9%
There are curtains in the beds, or that gives you more privacy to sleep. it is close to the bus stop Mepe, company that makes the line São José x Puerto Viejo Hot bath, spacious refrigerator Advertisement says that it accepts card payment, when you arrive there for check-in they charge you 3.9%

+ I loved my stay here at Roots Family! This was my first time solo traveling & they made me feel so warm and welcomed. I stayed for 2 weeks & the hostel definitely felt like home away from home!
- The only thing I would say that I didn't like is something the hostel has no control over... The neighbors partied most nights, pretty late into the evening. I suggest bringing headphones or earplugs.

- Muy deteriorado.
+ La cama de la habitación compartida es muy cómoda, con ventilador individual y placarcito. El hostel es muy lindo y acojedor. La onda es chill, con sus pro y contras, si querés estar tranquilo está bien, si querés sociabilizar no es el lugar.
- Es todo abierto por lo que se escucha mucho el ruido de afuera por la noches. A veces es demasiado chill, nadie habla con nadie, hasta el personal va con auriculares puestos.

It was agreat hostel. Private room was super conmfy. Laura during check in was very helpful. Rest of the staff also very good. I loved the cats around. Location is very near to the center, beaches, and bus station. Excellent.
actual hot showers!! havent had a hot shower in 2 months so this was great. beds were comfy, you get a mosquito net which is needed which is handy. you grt a big storage cupboard in each bed (bit of a nightmare getting to it with the mosquito net up tho), great location a few minutes walk from everything. beaches are a further walk away. not hugely social, but a nice vibe. some sweet cats roaming around the place. would stay again!
