Beachside Backpackers

Staff friendly. The big problem the space, the manager is a genius, build the hostel in a family house, put six bed in every single room and with good talkers ( sellers ) become the best hostel in Port Macquarie… good atmosphere. Very bad habitability.

We arrived on an early bus & even with telling the hostel this, we had to sleep outside on a dirty, wet sofa in the rain from 4am - 9am. From start to finish, the atmosphere was judgemental and unprofessional. I quote a staff member saying “I hate one timers” & the other saying “I don’t care, I leave soon”. A good location with friendly staff. Good showers. Private room did not have AC - the staff provided extra fans but it was still very hot. Kitchen was very basic but had most things you needed. Interesting atmosphere - not always clear who were guests and who were staff.

Definitely an odd place to stay. Lots of people staying there who live in Port but are on the streets. Alright for a night or 2 but wouldn’t do more than that.

Good late check in information provided. Room was nice but a little dusty and dirty under the bed. It was nice to have the tv to use in the private room. The toilets were okay and clean ish. The water in the shower went cold and the pressure was lost when someone used the toilet. Everyone seemed nice but we kept to ourselves really. We didn’t store anything in the kitchen as the fridge and cupboards looked too full. Overall good location and nice hostel for a few nights.

Ich habe mich überhaupt nicht wohlgefühlt. Das Zimmer hat sehr gerochen (als würden da 5 ungepflegte Hunde wohnen), war schmutzig und unordentlich. Die anderen Backpacker waren speziell. Teilweise haben sie gar nicht geredet. Kam mir ein bisschen so vor, als würden in diesem Hostel alle kiffen/rauchen.

The house is actually pretty and nice, however it’s just a big frat house. Impossible to get any sleep before midnight, even with earplugs… it would just need for everyone to be a bit careful for the place to be really nice!

Great hostel! Very small so super cozy atmosphere. Living onsite staff always makes a hostel better in my opinion. Close to everything. Good facilities, and place is kept clean. Plenty of parking on the street as well. Only reason it's 9.4 and not 10 was the rates, but I think all of Australia is way too expensive. Other than that 10/10 recommended

Hostel could do with a bit of a refresh but good enough for a few nights. Nice sized kitchen. Lots of social space. The rooms are like saunas with no air con so the only way to sleep is with the dorm doors wide open. Small rucksack size lockers are provided. No individual lights by your bed. Lots of guests seem to stay long term. Good location, close to the beach and supermarket.

Emma organised a great Star Wars day games night and Hope gave me some free hash browns and other food so 10/10 from me. Also close to Coles and the beach.

Great hostel - great location, very clean with friendly, helpful staff who had great customer service I look forward to coming back!

Okay so the reviews are right, this is literally a home away from home. It's not very big, and all the rooms come off this communal area which is like a living room/kitchen and is the hub of the house. Everyone is friendly, the staff especially, and they make an effort to actively include you and invite you to things. It's a very chilled vibe and very good for solo travellers. Absolutely loved this hostel. My fave of the east coast so far. Staff are SO nice. Big shoutout to Jonas and Jade for helping me stay awake until my 00:40 bus. Massive thanks to Emma as well for my crochet piece. The whole hostel feels like more of a home than a hostel. Wish I had stayed longer tbh.

Best hostel I’ve stayed at so far. The staff and everyone there was so freindly and I was immediately welcomed and asked to join in on group activities. Always has really lovely people circling in and out, Will does an amazing job at creating a really fun environment for everyone there while still keeping the space organized and safe. I will never forget this hostel and won’t hesitate to stay again if I’m in the area.

Would recommend this hostel to anyone! Vibes are immaculate - a range of ages but everyone is welcomed and included in activities. Staff are wicked, a lot of people seem to extend which is a good sign. Location is ideal for beaches, shops and the town centre also. 10/10!

Such a great hostel! Most people who stayed at the hostel were at least 25 years which I was really happy about. The vibe was super friendly and it felt like a little family. A lot of those who stayed there kept extending their stay because it was so nice. Would definitely recommend! Only downside: no aircon in the rooms.

This hostel was seriously so nice. Everyone there was welcoming from the second we arrived and it just had a lovely atmosphere. The team were very generous and friendly and because its not a big hostel, we got to know people quickly. Couldn't reccomend enough!

We only stayed in this hostel one night but wished we stayed longer, staff so friendly and helpful, hostel felt so homely with lovely big communal space and a lit up outside area. Toilets clean and clean kitchen. Less than 10 minutes walk from beach!! We would 100% come back!!!

If you’re coming to Port Macquarie, stay here! The staff are brilliant, the vibes are amazing and you will feel so welcome. It’s my favourite hostel and I’ll never forget it!

I spent three night at beachside, it was amazing. I am doing Cairns to Sydney and this one was by far the most family, cozy, home vibes. I tried to be antisocial. Impossible, in the best way. The staff were incredibly friendly as well as the guests. They also organise social activities which makes it really easy to get to know everyone. This is the one I strongly recommend as well as Port Macquarie, beautiful little town. Thank you so much beachside! I will be back!

What an amazing time at this hostel! Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Emma, Demi, Maddi and everyone that works there are simply the best and go above and beyond to include everyone and make sure all guests are having a great time! Can’t wait to be back 🫶
