Downtown Hostels Ella

The staff were lovely but the vibe was off! Not good if you’re solo I would say! Also the hostel doesn’t do much together sadly! Not very social in the evening

The hostel is in a great location in Ella, very central and convenient. I met some really nice people there, which I enjoyed a lot. However, I felt like the staff wasn’t very interested in socializing with guests or making sure everyone had the best stay possible — they mostly seemed to be hanging around and not very engaged. The hostel itself was nice and friendly staff, however I had an English man come into the female dorm and rip back my curtain butt naked at about 3am so it sort of ruin my time at the hostel.

Disappointed by the hostel - no lock on bedroom door so didn’t feel very safe, not very clean and exterior door wouldn’t shut so bugs could get in (no mosquito net). Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, air conditioning central location and good breakfast.

Good stay, but rooms have mould on the roofs. The sink being in the room is simply annoying, especially when people come in at 3am care about dental hygiene :/ not a lot going on here during the evenings but in a great location to go into town and have fun anyway!

The hostel is very well located and on surface seems decent. It is very social and the staff are happy to help with plenty on offer. The issue was with the bedroom. The terrace door wouldn’t shut and had a gap at the bottom so the noise from nightclubs carried and resulted in poor sleep. The room is also extremely damp and the bed is damp to touch. My bed was located right next to massive mold growth from water buildup in the bathroom.

OK hostel. Great location right in the centre of the town. Not very social though. The family dinner was good and busy but the night after the whole place was dead even though the dorms were fairly full. The WiFi didn't work in the dorm; I reported this to the staff whose response was to simply tell me it did work and leave it at that! Relatively expensive for what it was. I'd only consider staying again due to the good location

Next to City, possible to go on foot from the train station. Nice terrace but nothing going on in the hostel; nothing is happening within the people staying there…

Great hostel, lost points on security because the doors don’t lock and on atmosphere but it was off season when I visited, overall good hostel with great location in Ella

Perfect located in the Center of Ella. Reception is so helpful with organising trips for you but also just flyers of bus schedules and stuff. Note that there are busses running from Ella to the south coast and other places! Room was clean and spacious

Good hostel, perfectly located. Rooms and bathrooms were clean. Breakfast was nice. Maybe not enough areas to sit and socialise in as it’s only really the tables where you eat at.

The hostel itself is nice and clean. The dorms have curtains which is nice. There's a kitchen if you want to cook but they don't have a restaurant themselves, but there are plenty closeby. The staff was nice and helpful but the organised trips are overpriced. In general, in Ella people will try to get as much money out of you as possible so I'd advise to just bargain on the streets if you want to go somewhere.

Good hostel

Ich hatte zwei super Nächte dort und würde jedem empfehlen im Zentrum zu übernachten. Es ist alles fußläufig erreichbar, das Personal hilft bei allem weiter und organisiert auch günstige Transporte an die Küste. Frühstück war Hammer lecker!

Fijn en simpel hostel, locatie is fantastisch, midden in de stad, en ruime kamers

Had a great stay! Super social and the free breakfast is good. In the most perfect location. Beds have curtains. Would reccomend!

One of the more expensive hostels we stayed in in Sri Lanka but it was in a great location and was very clean. The breakfast was really good everyday and they cooked it fresh for you. Good water, tea and coffee facilities too.

Location great in the heart of Ella, beds comfy, clean bathroom with warm water, lovely breakfast included, staff friendly!

Great hostel, perfect location in the middle of Ella. Can walk to nine arches bridge and little Adam’s peak from there, also right next to everything in town

It was a nice hostel for a few days, not more and not less. The Hostel organized a trip to Yala National Park and after that it was possible to get dropped of at a specific location at the Southcoast for a really good price!
