Sunrock

As another client said you are a Prisoner if you don't have a car you can only go to the beach, there is nothing at walking distance. They charge 5% on any payment with cards. In a location on the seaside you must have something to hang on costumes and towels...we have asked to have one... no answer..You know when you have the feeling that owners hate both people and their job? In this trip we moved every 2 days for 15 days and this is the only place that really didn't work...and the most expensive! We booked a private room and we were sent far from the actual Sunrock, in a random apartment left almost abandoned (never cleaned the outside in years) UP on the road. There were bedbugs in the dorms. Not a Greek experience.

Die Lage wunderschön und man hat einen wirklich tollen Strand fußläufig zwei Minuten entfernt, allerdings ist die Lage sehr untauglich, wenn man die restliche Insel erkunden möchte. Wir wurden in ein Zimmer eingecheckt, von dem wir durch den Hostelworld Chat wussten, dass es zwei Tage zuvor noch Bettwanzen hatte. Wir hatten ebenfalls Bettwanzen! Das Hostel hat keine offene Küche, man muss das Restaurant benutzen! Auch sonst haben wir uns nicht wirklich wohl gefühlt. Würden nicht wiederkommen!

The family who run this are lovely and it’s a really beautiful property but it was overshadowed by issues. Many guests found bed bugs, it wasn’t very clean, they don’t have enough keys for everyone so I was locked out of my room multiple times for up to an hour, staff didn’t even have a spare key so I had to wait on other guests returning. The location is pretty inconvenient (1.7km down a steep hill from nearest bus stop) so it was hard to get into town, unless you paid €25 for them to drop you

Like other recent reviews say…bed bugs Got absolutely feasted on over 3 nights here, staff apologised and sprayed our stuff but didn’t offer a refund or seem to care too much. Overall their attitude the entire stay in regards to bed/cleanliness/laundry was very rude. The atmosphere is good, met some cool people and the location is stunning but unfortunately bed bugs completely ruined the holiday.

Pros: Very hospitable staff & the views / proximity to the beach is incredible. They offer traditional home cooked food for lunches/dinners and free breakfast. Cons: Unfortunately there were bed bugs in the 8 bed dorm and I got eaten alive halfway through my stay. However, the staff were extremely apologetic and helped me move rooms straight away, washed my clothes and purchased bite cream for me. Bed bugs are ultimately carried by travellers, I hope this is sorted for future guests.

BEDBUGS!!!!!! Just as other guest stated bedbugs in the dorm room, stayed in the 8 bed dorm, got over 100 bites… Other big issue: the place is extremely DIRTY, toilets, showers, room looks like never cleaned, old dog fleece on the corridor, MOSQUITOES everywhere, this place is a HYGIENIC HAZARD, no soap in the hand wash next to the toilet, ask the receptionist to refill, she sad later (=never) You can imagine how filthy the place if there is no soap to wash hand after using the toilets. old reviews stating good breakfast - forget that, basic breakfast, boiled egg, bread and some jam…. STAFF: rude, zero motivation, they just ignoring you, when you say “Good Morning” and they just watching you completely ignoring you. They dont give you key, the room door always open and also no lockers in the room… Absolutely nightmare

BEDBUGS. The owner Madalena refused any type of refund. The group of us staying in our room repeatedly asked, and screamed at us at breakfast in front of other hostel goers saying we were “blackmailing her.” She swore at us and was extremely unprofessional. When exterminators came later in the morning, I showed them the bedbug I found, and others showed the exterminators the blood stains and bug fecal matter on our mattresses. The exterminators confirmed there were in fact bedbugs, and Madalena still refused refund. Do not go to this hostel.

Found bed bugs in my bed - owner told us we were making it up. Totally understand it’s not great for business however, a simple “sorry girls, we will fix this asap” would have changed the whole situation. Being called a liar wasn’t too fun. Bathrooms were also gross by the evening. Location is far from everything - you have to pay them to drop you up to the bus stop (massive walk up a hill) or you’ll need a car. I’ve stayed in so many hostels and this unfortunately was the worst by a mile.

There were bedbugs in our 8 person dorm on multiple beds. No refund given, and the owner Madalena screamed at us. Worst hostel I’ve ever stay at. Nice views but not worth it when there’s bedbugs.

Bedbugs found and the owner refused refund. Extremely bad service. No kitchen or lockers and far away from everything. The view and beach are nice but it is not worth it.

Please reconsider if you want to book here. I booked a week long stay in a private room, but had to leave and book at another hotel after two nights. The AC didn’t work, which was so brutal in a July heatwave, I woke up with large bug bites across my back, and overall the room and bathroom just weren’t clean. There was no atmosphere at this hostel, just a world-class view (that is not reason enough to book here- you’ve been warned).

We stayed several days for a family event. The location is fantastic, with wonderful views of the Ionian Sea, it is an idyllic place if it weren't for the service and the room, which are not good at all. The service is poor, there is little staff and they have little flexibility. For example, breakfast is from 8.30am to 10.30am. We went at 10:45 and they said it was no longer possible, although it was possible to pay. I think we should be a little more flexible. The room is disappointing. The price is not appropriate, taking into account that there was no gel or shampoo, which could be a detail, a glass in the sink for toothbrushes, more toilet paper, some complimentary soft drink in the refrigerator, etc. The worst of all was the bed: the mattress was very uncomfortable and old, the bed was broken and my partner and I had many bedbug bites all over our bodies, so it would be interesting if they disinfected well. In conclusion, it is a unique place in location but very expensive for what it really is. Everything very neglected and old.
