This is the worst place I have ever stayed in my life. It doesn’t feel like a hostel but more like a shelter for homeless people. It is much better to pay 20 or 30 euros more per night than to go through this. I have stayed in many hostels and never felt so uncomfortable. They gave me a bed literally on the floor, because in order to make the most profit they divide the bunk bed into three. Later, they moved me to the middle bunk, where you couldn’t even sit up and I kept hittinmy head.
There’s no privacy and the common area is basically the reception room. Cramped and crowded. Showers don’t lock and are dirty. Wouldn’t recommend
sorry but for such a high rating i really expected a nice experience. staff was nice but honestly this felt like a scam. NASTY AND DIRTY. this is definitely a party hostel to be aware.
L'emplacement était super ! La salle de bain n'était pas pratique. L'endroit pour prendre sa douche est très petit et moyennement propre. Le plancher de la chambre était super sal. En général, la propreté laissait à désirer. Le personnel était très gentil. C'est un hostel petit avec seulement un petit espace commun et très petite cuisine. J'ai payé très cher pour ce que c'était. L'emplacement était parfait cependant.
The location was great ! the bathroom was not practical. the place to take your shower is very small and moderately clean. the floor of the room was super salty. in general, the cleanliness was unpleasant. the staff was very kind. it is a small hostel with only a small common area and a very small kitchen. i paid very much for what it was. the location was perfect though.
Dirty rooms
Kitchen was good and staff helpful but definitely party hostel. Security wasn't the best with the door left open at times.
Good location next to the silver gate entrance and not far from the bus station and ferry port. I liked that there were card and board games to play. Staff were lovely. However sadly the female dorm room was quite damp and musty. The ensuite toilet has a really bad smell coming from it into the room. The cleanliness level was quite poor as well. Needs more hooks by the showers to hang clothes.
Die Lage ist sehr gut!! Leider ist dafür die Sauberkeit der Unterkunft super schlecht. Nach dem Putzen haben wir im Schlafsaal aufgrund der Unsauberkeit nochmals durchfegen müssen. An vielen Stellen hängen passiv-aggressive Schilder zB „to close the door“. Auch hat der Hostelbesitzer tagsüber in einem Schlafsaal-Bett Mittagsschlaf gehalten. Also insgesamt eher eine schlechte Erfahrung!
The location is very good!! unfortunately the cleanliness of the accommodation is super bad. after cleaning we had to sweep the dorm room again due to insecurity. in many places hang passive-aggressive Schilder zB to close the door. also the hostel owner kept a dayover in a dorm-bed Lunchsschlaf. also overall rather a bad experience!
Bathrooms were petty dirty, the toilet locks were partially not functioning. As the bathroom had no outside window the bathrooms were constantly smelling mouldy. The common room is one large desk in the entrance area. The staff was friendly but it definitely didn't make up for the other downsides. We didn't think it was good value for money as we stayed in another hostel in split for the same price with muuuuch better facilities and cleanliness.
Volunteers and Aaron made this hostel experience. Unfortunately, the room itself wasn’t the cleanest and had a bad smell and the triple bunk beds were a little brutal from the bottom bunk. But, the hostel has a social vibe and free coffee and beer. My recommendation would depend on how worried you are about cleanliness of rooms vs. a good time. Aaron is a wealth of knowledge, he’s a bit of an acquired taste, but once you get to know him, he’s great. Wish it were cheaper.

it was perfect to visit the old town, just in front of the hostel, and the staff was really nice, but it's true it could be cleaner in some areas
I slept so well here … the girl who greeted me was super helpful. The staff in the morning a little less helpful, they were new. Overall great Hostle and good location. Ticked all the boxes for a good hostel.
Les lieux sont petits sans beaucoup de possibiités, mais l'emplaçement est idéale et le rapport qualité prix est bon!

Dirty rooms
Mid hostel all round. When I arrived after an incredibly long journey there was no one at the desk so I had to go and find someone to help me, and I was met with a rude manner. The communal area is dark and there was no atmosphere. I enjoyed the pub crawl with the sister hostel but it cost €20 to join.
The Hostel is at a very good location, just 2 minutes from coastel area. The owner is also good and nice. The main problem is their cleanliness. I haven't seen someone cleaning the floor a single time. The floor was completely dirty. Although the toilets and Beds were clean. Overall a good location.
Localização excelente, próximo ao porto e ao ônibus, de frente para cidade velha, ao lado de supermercados! O lugar é pequeno, sem muita estrutura. A funcionária é bem bacana. As pessoas que estavam hospedadas eram legais. Pra passar 2 ou 3 noites, mais do que isso ja é necessário mais estrutura, organização e limpeza.
Excellent location, close to the port and bus station, in front of the old town, next to supermarkets! The place is small, without much structure. The staff is very nice. The people who were staying were nice. To spend 2 or 3 nights, but that's what is needed but structure, organization and cleanliness.

Location is perfect and it is right by the stop for the buses to Graz and the airport and literally only 5 minutes walking from the old city. Curious amount of Koreans.
Empire was awesome!! The staff were amazing, so so good at their jobs and they had heaps of really good recommendations. It was so social and I met some of the best people there!! Highly highly recommend to anyone!
Beste Lage direkt an der Altstadt. Die Sauberkeit ist dafür eher mangelhaft.

Empire is great. Had a good time there. Facilities were clean and great staff. Location is good too. Maybe upgrade the bunkbeds. They make a lot of sound. There is a long-term resident (an older man) in my room who disrupted people during their sleep by constantly making noise getting on/off his bed.
+ Noch besser als die sensationelle Lage des Hotel innerhalb der Mauern des Diokletianpalast, ist superfreundliche Team vom Murum Hotel. Die Zimmer stylish und komfortabel.

It was one of the best hostels I’ve stayed in- staff were so so lucky, very social, really a good time.
I stayed at Empire Hostel from March 18 to 21 2026, and I highly recommend it. The hostel is conveniently located in the heart of the city, with easy access to major tourist attractions. If you’re traveling to Split and have a layover, Empire Hostel is a great place to stay. The staff are exceptionally friendly, and all of them speak English, making communication easy and comfortable.

Rarely you come across gem of a hostel when it comes to being perfect in every department. Kudos to Gytha and Aaron to keeping up with it. Definitely coming back here and highly recommended.

Wonderful! I had such a great time here, the staff were so fun, helpful, and friendly! Location couldn't be better, and I felt very comfortable the entire time. The kitchen is quite small, but has everything needed. The showers drained really slowly, but I find that to be a problem quite frequently in European hostels. My one critique would be the furniture in the common area wasn't comfortable, but that didn't stop people from gathering anyway. Would definitely recommend!
The staff and volunteers were very friendly. The location is prime, near the shops, markets and bus stop.
