Infested with bedbugs, do not book! Not sure how I missed the reviews but me and my friend both came away with bed bug bites and I saw, what I now realise was them, while there. Also the owners stayed up talking super loudly in the common area until late which kept people in the dorm awake despite having signs up to be quiet. And the ac is dripping into buckets all night which kept my friend awake. Also they should make it clear that there is no kitchen or yoga, and hardly a bar during this time

The BEDS are full of BED BUGS!!! Me and my sister checked in here last week. When we arrived here, the bed was not made yet. We arrived around 12 nn, and the bed was not made until 4pm. For the first day we don't have any problems, but the next day my sister is full of bites. We thought it was the mosquitos. Then it only got worse, and for the second day, I got full of bites too. Then we decided to check in at a different hotel. The place looks nice. It's cheap, but it's not worth it.

I would not recommend this hostel. Both my brother and I got bedbug bites, and other guests had the same issue. When I reported it, the staff didn’t take proper precautions like pest control or fumigation. The staff were friendly, but the infestation made the stay unpleasant.

Dieses Hostel ist eine absolute Zumutung. Achtung: BETTWANZEN / BEDBUGS Ja leider immernoch. Die Rezeption sagt zwar es seien keine, doch leider sind sie immer noch da. Bitte vermeidet dieses Hostel. Ich musste mir eine andere Unterkunft suchen. Einen Refund haben sie mir verweigert. Geht zu einem nächstgelegenen Hostel oder Hotel, vermeidet euch den Stress und ganz wichtig: Bitte glaubt nicht der Rezeption. Das Bettwanzen Problem ist seit Wochen bekannt und wird nicht ernst genommen.

Awful hostel, extremely overpriced for what you get, stayed first night in a double bed in the dorm arrived to a very flat mattress and a sheet covered in holes, then had to rent a towel for 50 pesos which is non refundable. Dorms are connected so you can be sharing with over 20 people, luckily the dorm was less than 50% full probably due to the recent bed bugs issue. Air conditioning doesn’t cool the place and leaks all night. Shared bathroom with no soap or shampoo provided. Some had soap at the sinks which was very watered down so wasn’t much good. The hostel is down a long road which is covered in holes and gravel and didn’t feel safe at night. Food and drink very overpriced compared to everywhere else as well as scooter rental which is 800 compared to 500 in the town. Very disappointed for the price paid.

Très mauvaise expérience et dommage que la note 0 n’existe pas. Dès notre arrivée, nous avons compris que quelque chose clochait : notre lit n’était pas prêt à 15h, ce qui est déjà inacceptable. En entrant dans le dortoir, nous avons découvert un espace sale, mal entretenu, avec des ouvriers à l’intérieur sous prétexte de travaux électriques. En réalité, les lits étaient en désordre, les matelas traînaient au sol et une seule couchette était faite : la nôtre. Situation plus que douteuse. Nous avons demandé à changer de dortoir pour deux lits simples, pensant éviter le problème. Mais la nouvelle chambre était tout aussi négligée… et surtout, nous avons repéré des signes très clairs de punaises de lit. À ce moment-là, plus question de rester une minute de plus. On a vite compris que l’histoire des travaux cachait en fait un vrai problème d’infestation. C’est inacceptable qu’un établissement reçoive des clients dans de telles conditions, sans transparence ni hygiène. Je déconseille fortement cet endroit.

À fuir absolument !!!! Punaises de lit !! Nous sommes arrivés à 15h et déjà, on nous annonce que notre lit n’est pas prêt — étrange pour une heure aussi tardive. En entrant dans le dortoir, c’est le choc : le sol est sale, des ouvriers sont à l’intérieur soi-disant pour des réparations électriques, mais en réalité, aucun lit n’est fait, des matelas sont posés n’importe comment… Seul notre lit était prêt, ce qui nous a immédiatement mis la puce à l’oreille. Nous avons demandé à changer de chambre, pensant tomber sur mieux. Résultat : même saleté, même ambiance vétuste… et le pire : des traces très claires de punaises de lit dans le deuxième dortoir. Autant dire que nous avons quitté les lieux immédiatement et nous n’avons pas dormi là-bas. L’excuse des réparations électriques était manifestement un mensonge pour masquer un vrai problème d’infestation. Cette auberge est sale, mal entretenue, malhonnête, et surtout dangereuse pour la santé. Une honte. À éviter absolument.

Don’t stay here. Bad location walking alone in the dark quiet street at night in the middle of nowhere not the best idea especially solo. Bed bugs!!!! Not a good vibe/ energy of the hostel at all! Not social. Had to leave early didn’t get anything back.

Wir haben keine guten Erfahrungen gemacht. Doppelzimmer war in Ordnung und sauber. Weshalb wir bei der Ankunft zufrieden waren. (Im Nachhinein las ich aber auch über Bettwanzen) Das Doppelzimmer befindet sich direkt vor dem Aufenthaltsbereich, weshalb wir definitiv mit Lärm gerechnet haben . Jedoch wurde in der ersten Nacht eine extrem laute Party veranstaltet, wir gaben dem Ganzen lange und weitaus über der Nachtruhe Zeit und waren sehr geduldig. Irgendwann erkundigte ich mich via WhatsApp beim Ansprechpartner, ob und wann die Nachtruhe eintritt . Es wurde mir versichert es würde bald ruhiger werden und jemand kümmert sich. Es geschah nichts. Immer wieder schrieb ich und es wurde sich entschuldigt, aber es wurde nicht leiser. Sie können mir glauben , es war so laut dass man definitiv nicht schlafen konnte. Irgendwann rief ich den Ansprechpartner an und musste feststellen, dass die lauten Musik die über eine Musikbox ertönte aufhörte und ein/das Telefon klingelte immer wenn ich anrief . Das heißt der Verantwortliche war Teil der Party und offenbarte mir nach mehreren Nachrichten dass die Mitarbeiter und Freunde dort eine Feier veranstalten. Dadurch gab ich die Hoffnung auf eine ruhige Nacht auf und es wurde auch nicht leise. Somit verbrachte ich die halbe Nacht auf dem Badezimmer Boden (welches sich im hinteren Bereich befand und weiter weg vom Geschehen war und eine weitere Türe verschließen konnte). Die Dreistigkeit hat mich am meisten geärgert und wir sind am nächsten morgen sofort ausgecheckt, was ich am liebsten noch in der Nacht getan hätte. Über Booking haben wir unser Geld zurück bekommene . Laut Unterkunft wollten sie auch prüfen ob wir die erste Nacht erstattet bekommen. Da ich jedoch den Schriftverkehr zwischen Booking und der Unterkunft gesehen habe, weiß ich dass sie sich nicht bemüht haben uns alle Kosten zu erstatten. Im Urlaub will man sich einfach nicht ärgern müssen aber bei solchen Verantwortlichen fühlt man sich nicht gut aufgehoben.

DO NOT STAY THERE! I am appalled by the service and handling of issues at this establishment. Despite clear evidence of bed bugs and a recent fumigation, they refused to provide a refund. This is not only unacceptable but also shows a blatant disregard for customer satisfaction and well-being. What’s even more astonishing is their refusal to acknowledge responsibility or offer any form of compensation, even after multiple requests. This lack of accountability and customer care is truly appalling. The fact that they are aware of the ongoing issues, as evidenced by recent Google reviews, yet still deny refunds, speaks volumes about their approach to problem-solving. It seems they prioritize profits over people, which is unacceptable in any hospitality business. I strongly advise potential guests to be cautious and consider these factors before booking. The way they handle problems is not only unprofessional but also incredibly arrogant.

I had a short but amazing stay at this hostel! They recently closed for a few days to fumigate, and I can confirm there are no more bed bugs, everything is super clean now. The vibe here is unbeatable, and the people make it even better. I’ll definitely be coming back to Port Barton just for this hostel and the good energy all around. Highly recommend!

Bei uns waren auch noch immer Bettwanzen vorhanden! Als wir gesagt haben dass wir gerne wieder aus checken würden aufgrund der Bettwanzen gab es immerhin das Geld zurück, allerdings wurden die Betten direkt wieder an neue Gäste vergeben… meiner Meinung nach ist das absolut nicht okay und das Problem sollte behoben werden bevor neue Gäste reinkommen können.

The hostel has had bedbugs for weeks but they do not take the problem serious.. They still rent out the beds. I would not recommend going here.

Bed Bugs and Terrible Conditions – Avoid This Hostel! When we arrived at the hostel, we noticed something odd—the beds were unmade, and the mattresses were propped up on their sides (as shown in the photos below). After a long discussion between two staff members, they finally agreed to make up two beds for us. Once they had done this, they sprayed the beds with a multi-insect killer. This seemed strange, so we asked why. One of them casually replied, “To kill the mosquitos.” The next morning, we were woken up by another guest across from us, telling the receptionist that his bed was infested with bed bugs. Alarmed, we checked ours—and sure enough, there were multiple bed bugs crawling on our bed. We immediately reported this to the receptionist, who gave a half-hearted apology and offered us a free breakfast worth 250 pesos. After a long and frustrating argument with the staff, we learned that the beds that had been left upright were already known to have a bed bug problem—yet they let us sleep in them anyway! Completely unacceptable. Had they been honest about the infestation, we would have found somewhere else to stay. Beyond the bed bug nightmare, the conditions were not great either: • The air conditioning leaked all night into two buckets. • Dead cockroaches were scattered in the bathroom. • The hostel and its surroundings looked like an unfinished construction site. Do not book this hostel!

Do yourself a favor and don’t go to this hostel. They have had bedbugs for weeks but do not take the problem serious. They still rent out the beds. They also said they would close the hostel next week but the beds are still available on hostelworld…

BED BUGS!! DO NOT BOOK THIS HOSTEL! There was a known bedbug infestation and the staff still allowed us to stay in the beds. Staff said multiple people have complained about the bed bugs but they have done nothing to resolve the issue and are still selling the beds out.

Really nice place with super useful staff. Was close to everything and easy to meet people as a solo traveller. Unfortunately had bed bugs and I got pretty badly bitten up
